When the two of them emerged, Xiao Su waited for them outside. Just as he saw them, he stepped forward and handed them some water. “What is it, Young Lady Ye?”
Han Muzi smiled as she nodded, but she quickly thought of something and shot a look at Yan beside her. Xiao Su immediately knew that something was amiss.
“Don’t look at me. I was just simply sending my prayers. Besides, I accidentally spilled the lots, so I may have angered God.” Yan’s voice was gloomy as if she was upset and she dragged her head down in a dull and lifeless way.
Xiao Su felt that if she was an animal, both of her ears would be flattened against her head. Just the thought of it gave him a vivid image and he felt that he could reach out to tug her ears. Of course, he never did it in reality, but he couldn’t resist reaching out to place his palm over her head.
“How could a lot upset you a lot? It is still unknown to us. How do you know that it would not come true if you do not work hard for it?”
Yan wanted to stare at him, but when she raised her eyes, she spotted a pink-colored shadow in the corner of his pocket and instinctively reached out to grab it. Xiao Su’s lot was in her hands—just like that. “Huh? You have also offered a prayer?”
While standing aside, Han Muzi remained silent as if she had discovered something incredible. Before we entered, Xiao Su had clearly said that he didn’t want to enter, but I never expected him to secretly…
After being caught red-handed, Xiao Su felt a little awkward and ashamed yet he did not deny it at that moment. Therefore, he only nodded his head in agreement. “Yes. Initially, I did not want to go in, but it is too boring out here, so… I went in to draw a lot.”
No matter what he said, Yan had already opened his lot to have a look. When she saw that his lot was also an awful lot like hers, a smile quickly appeared on her face. “I was wondering why you would suddenly comfort me. Looks like you are also comforting yourself because you also drew an awful lot like me. Xiao Su, what did you pray for?” Xiao Su remained quiet while looking at her. “What did that old monk tell you when you got that awful lot? Did he tell you that it all depends on you and you are the one who decides your own fate?”
Yan continued to speak while she lifted her head and her eyes instantly met Xiao Su’s gaze that melted into hers. His profound eyes felt like fire burning on her face, which made her feel a thump in her heart. Xiao Su is… She panicked and wanted to search for Han Muzi. However, Han Muzi had realized from the start that this would happen, so she went off to drink her water.
“You should know what I prayed for.” Just when Yan’s heart raced, Xiao Su opened his mouth slightly. “I also know what you’ve prayed for. However, it is obvious that both of our lots did not go as planned. Looks like… this situation is going to continue for a while, right? But I believe that if I work harder, you might be mine. ”
You might be mine… You might be mine… Yan nervously blinked her eyes several times while stepping back in panic. Then, she thought of something, so she stuffed the lot back into Xiao Su’s hands and snapped at him, “Who ever said that I’m thinking the same thing as you? My wish is totally different from yours! As for what I have wished for, I won’t ever tell you!” With that, she ran right away.
Xiao Su let out a faint smile as he saw her leaving.
Meanwhile, Han Muzi drank some water when Yawn sat right next to her. Just as Han Muzi’s eyes filled with joy, Yan moaned to her, “Muzi, are we still good friends?”
“Yes. Why would we not be?”
“Then why did you leave me, your friend, when I am in trouble? You even sat here drinking your water leisurely. Do you even have a conscience?”
“My friend is in trouble?” Han Muzi turned her head and revealed her joyous eyes. “I did not see any trouble. What I see is a man. As your best friend, I should give the two of you more personal space and time when someone has fallen in love with you.”
Yan was rendered speechless as she pursed her lips angrily. “What love? I do not need someone else’s love. I want to work hard and open my own shop, so I do not need anyone’s love.” Han Muzi smiled, but never uttered a word. “However, I was surprised that he got an awful lot too. Suddenly, I feel that he also has the same bad luck as me. I am finally not the most unlucky person anymore.”
“You’re right. The two of you seem destined to be together. You are upset because you got an awful lot. He, too, got an awful lot, so he happens to be the one who could comfort you.”
Yan remained silent. “Look at you, bringing this up again. Muzi, you really are getting cheekier lately.”
“Am I?”
“Hmph, of course you would not admit to it,” Yan grumbled.
“Alright. Don’t be mad. We need to head down the mountain now.”
Han Muzi saw that the sky became dark and she assumed that it would be nightfall when they got down the mountain. However, she also noticed that there were street lamps on each side of the stone step road when they climbed the mountain and it would be faster for them to head down, compared to coming up. Therefore, half an hour should be enough for them.
“Eh, do you not need to rest? Even though you looked fine on the way, you are still pregnant. Are you hanging on by force?” Yan stared at her worryingly, afraid that Han Muzi would keep quiet on her discomfiture without telling them.
“Don’t worry. Just look at me, do I look like I have any problems? Or are you hoping that something happens to me?”
“Pfft!” Yan rudely interrupted her. “What nonsense are you talking about? How could I hope for you to have an accident? I hope that you can be safe and that nothing happens to you!”
Just as the two of them chatted, Xiao Su came over. “Young Lady Ye, did you have enough rest? We need to head down the mountain now.”
When Yan saw him, she was reminded of the words he told her earlier about wanting something. Suddenly, her expression became a little awkward as she coughed gently before turning her head away.
Seeing Yan embarrassed like that, Han Muzi smiled slightly. “I think I had enough rest. Let us go.”
Yan quickly stood up with Han Muzi. Both of them had supported each other when they climbed the mountain because they were tired. Now that they went down the mountain, Yan followed Han Muzi closely while distancing herself from Xiao Su.
Sure enough, as they were halfway down, the sky had turned dark and the street lamps were switched on. There were a lot of people going down the mountain with them. When they arrived at the foot of the mountain, Yan grabbed her stomach. “I’m hungry. Let’s head back to eat.”
As soon as they arrived at the hotel, they caught a meal before they returned to their rooms to rest. Han Muzi and Yan stayed in the same room. When Han Muzi was done with her bath, she assured Song An of her safety before asking about Ye Moxuan’s condition.
“You don’t need to worry. It’s already late, so you’d better have a rest now. You can come back tomorrow after you have rested enough. There is nothing particular about Moxuan’s situation, but I’ll help you keep an eye on him.”
“Thank you, Aunty. You must be tired now. I will be returning tomorrow.”
