Han Muzi didn’t know whether she should cry or laugh at her words. “How can I deliver that many children?”
“Why should you not?” Yan got closer to her. Even though they were the only two people in the room, they still lowered their voices because they were afraid of being heard by anyone. “Young Master is good at what he does, so you can deliver as many as you like.”
Han Muzi shook her head. “No, two are enough. I cannot handle more of them.”
“Oh, that is good. If I were you, I would give birth to many sons before having a daughter so that the big brothers can take care of her. This way, she will be the only little princess of the house.”
“Then you should work hard and get married sooner. You can achieve your wish then.”
Suddenly, it was silent in the dark as if the atmosphere had become weighted.
Han Muzi still smiled until she noticed that something was wrong in the atmosphere, so she quickly reacted to the words she said. She opened her lips slightly and glanced at Yan’s direction before struggling to make a sound. “I am sorry—”
Hearing her apology, Yan quickly reacted and interrupted Han Muzi, “Why are you saying sorry? I think that you’re right. Since this is my wish, I need to work hard to achieve it. I must get married and give birth to children earlier so that I can have both sons and daughters. Then, I can live the rest of my life happily.”
Even though Yan sounded cheerful as she said those words without a slight trace of frustration, Han Muzi’s heart still felt upset upon hearing it. How could Han Muzi not notice that Yan had forced a smile in front of her? The person whom she likes has a very close connection to me. In short, seeing me on a daily basis is a torture for her yet she still accompanies me every day. Thinking about it, Han Muzi reached out and searched for Yan in the dark. Then, she patted Yan’s back. “Come on, Yan. You will definitely find someone who loves you a lot in the future. After that, you will have a handful of sons and a daughter. You will certainly live a happy life.”
Han Muzi’s voice was filled with sincerity. It should have been the life that Yan deserved, but her heart was still upset. Yan really desired to have a handful of sons and a daughter, so that the big brothers could pamper their little sister. Yet, there was a point that Han Muzi didn’t make—which was the man who helped Yan to deliver children had to be the same man she loved.
“You’re right.” In the dark, Yan made some nasal sounds, so Han Muzi quickly guessed that she cried and did not know how to comfort her. Instead, Han Muzi only gently patted Yan’s back. The two of them nestled together with heavy hearts. However, they were unable to overcome their lethargy in the end, so they gradually fell asleep.
Ye Moxuan still hadn’t regained his consciousness on the second day. The doctor explained that this situation could happen, therefore, he urged everyone to be more patient while waiting. Although Han Muzi was a bit worried in her heart, she continued to comfort herself, After all, this is just the start. Maybe Moxuan will wake up tomorrow.
However, another day had passed and Ye Moxuan still lay on the bed without showing any signs of regaining consciousness. Han Muzi took a towel and wiped his body herself while being careful with her movements out of the fear that she would hurt him.
Song An couldn’t help but spit at him after watching the scene from aside, “What is Ye Moxuan doing? Does he not know that his wife and kids are waiting for him? Is he trying to worry everyone to death by being unconscious for so many days?”
Han Muzi stopped her movements and let out a small smile. “Maybe he was too tired before, so he wanted to take this chance to have a rest. When he is done resting, he will wake up naturally.”
Song An was rendered speechless by Han Muzi’s words.
Too tired? So he took this chance to have a rest? Song An really wanted to tell Han Muzi to stop hurting herself. She would have given the little brat, Ye Moxuan, a few slaps before scolding him if Han Muzi wasn’t here. You little brat. You’ve wronged her so many times and you won’t wake up now. How much suffering do you want her to endure before you are satisfied? However, I wonder how many blessings he has received in his past lives for Han Muzi to treat him like this. Song An only muttered these words under her breath as she was afraid of distressing Han Muzi. After all, Han Muzi was still a pregnant woman.
Let’s hope that this little brat will wake up soon and regain all of his memories so that nothing bad ever happens again. Oh, God, I, Song An, have never pleaded with you for anything before. Even when my sister met with an accident, I only realized it later on. Now, I’m begging for your mercy so that you can stop tormenting these two loving souls. Song An closed her eyes and prayed for a while before reopening her eyes. Then, she sighed when she saw Han Muzi by Ye Moxuan’s side, taking care of him seriously.
Han Muzi wiped Ye Moxuan’s body daily by herself. Even though Song An had suggested hiring a care worker for him, Han Muzi rejected the idea because she wanted to do it herself instead of letting others do it.
One day later, two days later, three days later… A week had since passed and Ye Moxuan was still lying there.
The doctor also frowned his eyebrows when he came to have a look, but he still gave his support and encouragement to Ye Moxuan’s family members. “It is understandable for the patient to have these kinds of symptoms, so everyone must believe in him. Maybe he is now struggling to wake up as we speak. You should have someone close to him to speak with him. If he can hear that person’s voice, maybe it will strengthen his will to wake up.”
Since then, Han Muzi always stayed by Ye Moxuan’s side—except when she ate and slept. She talked to him whenever she took a break from wiping his body and, sometimes, even fell asleep next to him while holding on to his hand.
Song An felt distressed when she saw Han Muzi in this situation. Then, Song An couldn’t help but moan to Yuchi Jin beside her, “Can you see it now? Where would you be able to get another granddaughter-in-law like her? You always wanted to tear them apart from the start!”
After being called out like that, Yuchi Jin rubbed his nose while feeling awkward. Initially, he never expected Han Muzi and Ye Moxuan’s affections for each other to be rock solid. As Yuchi Jin slowly accepted Han Muzi, he realized the good in his granddaughter-in-law. Along with the way she presented herself, his favorable impression toward her skyrocketed. Now, not only did he stop tearing them apart, he even disagreed with anyone else who tried to separate the couple. Sadly, his grandson still remained unconscious. He thought about it and said to his daughter, Song An, “If Moxuan remains like this, why don’t… we pray at the temple?”
Song An rolled her eyes after she listened to him. “I must say, old man, you are a well-known entrepreneur, for crying out loud. Can you not be this superstitious? How can a prayer help him to wake up?”
