Footsteps were heard at the entrance.
Other than Harvey, everyone stood up.
A group of people in robes entered soon after.
The person leading them was a handsome man with a buzz cut and an elegant aura. His eyes were brimming with light as he strutted inside.
“Oh! Master Bryan’s here! Please! Come inside!”
Ernie appeared very hospitable.
“Let me introduce you, Master York. This is one of the outskirts’ most outstanding people alive, Bryar Flynn!
“He’s an outer disciple of the Carrion Palace, one of the country’s sacred martial arts training grounds. He’s also a King of Arms!
“You two should get acquainted. This is fate, after all!”
Harvey glanced at Bryar curiously, not saying a word.
“I told you, Ernie,” Bryar said, after sizing up Harvey. “I can handle this on my own. What’s the point of getting a brat here to help? Do you want him to die?”
Ernie showed an awkward expression, and walked toward Bryar.
“I know how capable you are. I know you’ve been pursuing Ms. Kali as well.
“But you of all people should know what she’s like. If you’re the only person invited, Ms. Kali would probably refuse your help.
“But with another person involved, things are different.”
Bryar seemed to have calmed down after hearing Ernie’s words. He casually sat down without batting Harvey an eye.
“Since this kid’s here to put up a show, we should make sure he does just that,” he said, not intending to lower his voice.
“Make sure we all know what to and not to do.
“Another thing. Putting up a show like this must be expensive. Even if he’s just here to show off, you should pay him for it too. Understand?”
Ernie looked awkwardly at Harvey. “Of course, of course.”
He had intentionally lowered his voice because he was afraid of offending Harvey. He didn’t think expect Bryar would just say everything out loud, completely ruining his plan.
Bryar glared disdainfully at Harvey. He wanted to see if Harvey would lash out after hearing everything.
Harvey didn’t mind at all. Rather, he became a lot more curious about Bryar.
