Harvey York’s Rise to Power Chapter 5585

Chapter 5585

In the information Kairi provided, Whitley came from Gangnam. She got to know Harlan while visiting the outskirts for a vacation, and they had been together ever since.

Whitley frowned when she saw Harvey walk in, but she still nodded at him in greeting.

“Look who’s here, honey?” Harlan laughed. “Come, have some tea with your aunt. I’ll get the food ready. You should eat here tonight.”

Harlan happily put on his apron before heading into the kitchen.

Harvey froze; he was surprised to find out something new, despite having read the information provided.

From what he was seeing, it seemed that Whitley was the person in charge of the family.

Whitley casually signaled for Harvey to sit. She brought out two expensive-looking cups, and went to boil some tea. She seemed quite absent-minded, but every single one of her movements was just right.

Naturally, she was an expert.

Harvey glanced at Whitley with a look of admiration. People with such amazing tea-making skills were surely extraordinary.

After pouring some tea, Whitley glared at Harvey before finally speaking up.

“Harvey, right? I heard that you belonged to a wealthy family in the outskirts. When your father had a disagreement with the rest of the family, you two left for Golden Sands.

“Are you here for your family again?”

Harvey smiled. “Not at all. I’m only here to study.”

Whitley froze. In her eyes, the Yorks were not on par with the Wolven Tribe and the four great tribes of the outskirts.

Even so, the Yorks were still considered a second to third-rate family.

She had been certain that Harvey came back to seek help from his family again, but that wasn’t the case at all.

After that, Whitley quickly changed the subject.

“I heard your father managed to do quite well in Golden Sands. Does he not want to further his business back here?”

Harvey thought back to the documents he read, then revealed an honest expression.

“His company went bankrupt. The property he had in Golden Sands were all foreclosed as well.”

Though it wasn’t his actual past, he still felt bad about the Harvey he was pretending to be when saying that.

“I see.” Whitley’s face turned stern. “And what of your studies?”

Harvey shrugged. “Pretty ordinary. I’m only planning to study at the Oaklands University, since I couldn’t get into any other good ones.”

Whitley’s expression worsened.

“You may not know this, Harvey. The Oaklands University is where all the young masters and princes here throw their money away. Ordinary people who go there will only become losers!

“But since you’re here already, you should just do your best. Maybe some young master might have enough interest in you and make you his lackey. You’d have another person to fall back on.

“If not, your uncle might not be able to help you when you get in trouble again.”

Harvey could clearly tell the meaning behind Whitley’s words.

“You’re right about that,” he said, smiling.

Seeing Harvey’s indifference, Whitley was disappointed.

‘We arranged a man like this to Billie? He’s not worthy of her! It doesn’t matter. My daughter’s a goddess! With her high standards, she wouldn’t bat an eye to a man like this!’
