Harvey stopped in his tracks.
“What do you mean?”
Shepard smiled.
“I’m just worried you’d go there for no reason.”
Harvey glared coldly at Shepard. Before he could lash out, Shepard spoke up again.
“According to my news, the people on the plane were all held hostage.
“They’re all gone by now. Other than a few staff without any value, who were taken out immediately, the rest were sent to their corresponding places.
“The most important elites of research institutes were sent to Evermore’s headquarters.
“A few higher-ups from companies were arranged for ransoms, too.
“As for the ignorant ones who wouldn’t name their identities, they’d have to suffer.”
Harvey frowned. “You people are no different from ordinary bandits.”
Shepard shook his head.
“No! We’re different!
“Maybe I wasn’t clear before…
“Evermore has a structure, but every person has their own way of doing things.
“For example, I love chatting and making friends.
“It’s a lot better than just fighting and killing others, right?”
“Get to the point,” Harvey spat.
Shepard chuckled lightly.
“Looks like you’re not very patient, either.
“Don’t worry. I’m a very good observer.
“I can tell you that Ms. Zimmer’s currently not in danger.”
Harvey sighed in relief after hearing Shepard’s words.
“But that might change tonight,” Shepard added.
“According to my information, Ms. Zimmer was escorted to a cruise on the Rio River.
“There’s about to be a massive auction there. Unfortunately, since she didn’t reveal her identity, she’s about to be sold as a rare item near the end of the auction.
“The organizer is none other than Evermore itself.”
Harvey took a step forward, and grabbed Shepard’s collar.
“Are you threatening me right now?” he asked coldly.
“No, no! Don’t be mistaken!”
Shepard smiled as he pried Harvey’s fingers away one by one.
“I’ll reiterate, I don’t like hurting people. My subordinates are all civilized people as well. You’ve never heard of Evermore killing people or doing anything that crossed the line around these parts, have you?”
“Continue,” Harvey said, after realizing that Shepard’s words had a different meaning.
“The cruise is coming from the Grand Canal. Its owner is none other than Aleah. Her trusted subordinate is the one taking control,” Shepard said.
“Surely she’d know of my relationship with Mandy,” Harvey replied.
Shepard shrugged.
“Maybe you don’t know this, but even if I’m at the bottom of the barrel, there are thousands of people working under me.
“Do you think she’d lack manpower?
“Why would they report such a trivial matter to her?
“Or rather, if Aleah knew that she has Mandy held hostage…
“You wouldn’t be having a meal with me now, would you?”
