Chapter 5515
At the same time…
In the John family’s courtyard.
Blaine crossed his arms. He stood on the terrace while looking at the pond in front of him. A fishing line and bait were next to him, but he wasn’t interested in fishing at all.
Several security guards were standing behind him. They could tell that Blaine was in a bad mood, so they decided to keep their mouths shut.
After a long while, Blaine’s eyes moved slightly. He sat in his chair.
“You’re back, Your Holiness?” he said, smiling.
“Yes.”
Almost at the same time, a woman appeared on the terrace. She put her umbrella to the side before casually sitting beside Blaine, and gulped her wine down.
She then licked her lips, as if she didn’t have enough.
“You’ve met Harvey, didn’t you? What do you think?”
Blaine sipped his tea before finally speaking up. At the same time, he lit up a scented candle. He narrowed his eyes while enjoying the fragrance.
“I did,” Aleah replied. “I have to admit, he is quite the talented man. Not only is he extremely skillful, his geomancy arts are a sight to behold.”
“How did you figure that out?” Blaine asked.
“Even his student managed to see my true self, let alone himself,”
Aleah said.
She seemed interested in Harvey.
Blaine narrowed his eyes for a long time before finally speaking up again.
“I have a question, Your Holiness. You’ve lived more than a hundred years?”
Aleah smiled. “What do you think?”
Blaine sighed. “I can’t tell. But if that’s true, it’d be quite boring for you to still be alone until now.”
A burning fire could be seen in his eyes.
“Since you belong to Evermore now, you should know that the cost of that is to break free from all connections.
“For me, worldly ties don’t matter to me as long as I can have immortality.
“Don’t forget, you’re about to rise as the lowest member of the twelfth branch.
“It’s been decades since there’s been any change to the branch.
“You’re lucky to be able to climb the ranks. It’s a great honor for you as well.
“The moment you rise to the top of the twelfth branch…
“The Lord will bless you with Evermore’s way of everlasting life.
“When that happens, you might understand me a little better,” Aleah said.
Blaine sighed.
“I’m just an ordinary man. Do you think I can just break free from every single one of my connections like that?”
“You can’t?” Aleah chuckled.
“You’re kidding. You even fooled your own father, just to rise in power.
“Love can’t be found in wealthy families, after all. What’s the point of pretending to be affectionate in front of me?”
Blaine sighed; he didn’t seem like he wanted to give a reply.
“I know what you’re thinking,” Aleah said.
She took a huff of her long and thin hookah, before raising Blaine’s jaw with it.
“When you finally rise to power, maybe you’ll finally have a chance to be with me.”
