Mandy showed a gloomy expression, and she slowly opened the lid.
When the dice inside were revealed, everyone burst out laughing.
One, two, two-five points in total!
What a small amount!
Simon looked as if he had taken a bite out of a bitter gourd.
Making a strong comeback was a mere pipe dream, after all…
Darby couldn’t help but chuckle. He lit up a cigar, and took a drag of it before hooking his finger toward Mandy.
“Come on then, darling. Whether you prefer to do it in a car, a kitchen, or the bathtub, I’ll satisfy you!”
Mandy’s expression was ugly. “You haven’t even opened yours yet!”
“Hahaha! Good point! I’ll have to fully convince you, then!”
Darby burst out laughing.
The next moment, his smile froze. The crowd was bewildered as well. Even Mandy was a little shocked.
Simon was the only one who came to his senses.
“One, one, two! Four points!” he yelled. “We won! We won!”
Simon felt as if he had come back to life. Winning the match wasn’t an easy feat, after all.
Mandy came back to her senses, then growled at her father.
“We got lucky this time, Father. But, there will be no next time! Come on.”
She sighed; thank goodness she was blessed with luck and won the gamble. If that wasn’t the case, she would be done for.
“Stop right there, you wench!”
Darby quickly reacted. His face darkened, and he glared coldly at Mandy.
“How dare you cheat on my own turf?!”
Mandy froze. A second later, her face turned grim.
“Mr. Darby, right?
“You won so many matches against my father, and you even forced him to wager his own daughters!
“Even then, you’ve never admitted you’ve cheated!
“I just won a single match, but you’re accusing me of doing that?
“Can you have some dignity?
“I’ve only played dice for a few times my entire life! How would I know to cheat in the first place?
“Besides, there are surveillance cameras all over this place!
“You can’t afford to lose, so you call me out for cheating? What kind of reasoning is that?!”
Looking at Mandy’s righteous expression, Darby took a deep breath.
“Since I’m calling you out, I naturally have proof.”
He grabbed one of Mandy’s die, then clenched his fist. There was a crack, and the die shattered. It revealed mercury inside.
“Mercury in the die! This is solid proof!” Darby claimed.
“No need to waste any more time, darling. You have two choices.
“Number one: according to the rules here, I’ll break one of your arms for cheating.
“Number two: you treat me well for an entire month, starting now. When I’m done with you, I’ll let you off the hook.”
Darby blew a puff of smoke right on Mandy’s face.
“Well? How will you choose?”
The entire gamble was a setup against Simon in the first place. Blaine had told Darby to arrange all this. In the end, Mandy was their intended target.
However, nobody expected her to show up on her own.
Naturally, Darby wanted to take her down.
“Are you done thinking?” Darby said, smiling. His eyes were cold. “Or do you want me to pick for you instead?”
