“Without Mr. Gibson, the entire Golden Sands’ branch has been low in morale.
“We had no choice but to hire a few experts to lend a hand.
“The fighters aren’t bad. Some of them are even Kings of Arms, but Faceless managed to get a few of the best fighters of the Island Nations’ younger generation on his side.
“The person fighting now is the tenth best, Matsuda Taiha, but he’s still a King of Arms.
His strength is nothing short of terrifying.
“Our experts are nothing against him.”
Dariel seemed helpless.
Matsuda was the successor of the Abito Way.
He was a true expert.
Ordinary people would not have a chance against him.
“The six Hermit Families and the Patel family surely have experts of the same caliber…
“What’s the point of hiding them now?
“Get them all out of here!”
Harvey York knew that the families would definitely have experts, but they would not send them out unless it were absolutely necessary.
Then again, this was probably the time to do just that.
“They did, but they all died for it.”
Dariel gave a bitter chuckle.
“We thought of striking first after hearing Faceless sending Matsuda…
“We all deployed our experts to take him out to prevent him from ever getting here…
“But we were struck down.
“The experts all died because of it!
“We’re starting to feel powerless facing the enemy at this point…”
Dariel seemed hopeless.
“There’s a spy?” Harvey asked.
Dariel shrugged.
“Ms. Patel had the same doubts, but we don’t even know who it is…”
“The John family,” Harvey replied.
He had no proof, but since Blaine John spoke for Evermore’s benefits, it was only natural that the same family would go against the Patel family along with the six Hermit Families.
As for how Blaine got word about the assassination, Harvey believed he had spies planted within the families.
This was nothing to be shocked about. After all, those were simple tactics.
Harvey also suspected that the entire situation was a trap laid by Blaine and Faceless.
Their goal was to suppress the families.
Dariel showed a profound expression.
“How’s it going so far?” asked Harvey.
“It’s bad.
Dariel took a deep breath.
“The experts we hired were all taken out by Matsuda.
“The next fight would probably end up the same…
“If we’re not careful, Faceless would be allowed into the city.”
Dariel showed a horrible look.
The conflict between both sides would only escalate if that were to happen.
Countless more people would have to die for this.
Harvey nodded.
“Take me inside.”
Since Evermore was involved, Harvey could not watch as Golden Sands crumbled.
Dariel lightly nodded before taking Harvey and Julian York into the deeper parts of the manor.
