Eliel Braff rephrased his words, emphasizing his praise toward Harvey York.
He sized up Harvey, wondering if he should bring his dear granddaughter back from her studies in America.
After all, the family had a spot for a live-in son-in-law.
Harvey showed a faint smile.
“Thank you for looking up to me like that, Mr. Braff.”
Eliel could tell he did not want to be compared to Emery Wright, so he tactfully changed the subject.
“What are your thoughts about the future, Sir York?”
Harvey froze. He had a mighty legacy as the Chief Instructor. Nobody else could compare to such feats.
After pondering momentarily, he replied, “I want to live an ordinary life with my wife. I want to have a boy and a girl with her and watch them grow up.”
Eliel froze before he burst out laughing.
“You’re not going to make a career out of your talents? Why not contribute to your country?
“It’d be a waste, don’t you think?”
Harvey let out a chuckle.
“I have no right to decide that.
“If my country needs me one day, I’ll go through the fire and flames for it.
“But if not, what’s the problem with living a normal life?”
A sense of experience could be seen in Harvey’s eyes.
Eliel was filled with shock when he saw it.
He did not expect Harvey to say such a thing, let alone feel this way.
There were too few people who did not care for fame and riches in this day and age.
All the young men crave to be reckless. They want all eyes on them.

That said, Eliel could not sense that from Harvey.
