Chapter 3503 There Is A Story Behind This
“Gloria is indeed my destined life-long partner.”
Floyd’s mood had brightened up significantly.
All that’s left is to introduce Gloria to Master and the rest. Finally, I don’t have to live in fear and trepidation any longer.
Floyd felt a surge of happiness and even started humming merrily.
“Hey, Floyd. What’s up with you?”
Phoenix was puzzled by Floyd’s sudden good mood.
He was acting as though the world was coming to an end not long ago. Yet, now he’s bursting with joy. What is going on with him?
“Is there some happy news? Come on, share with us.” Phoenix chuckled.
Floyd wanted to tell her but remembered Gloria still needed protection.
He forcibly swallowed the words at the tip of his tongue. “It’s nothing. You’ll know later. Soon, I’ll share the good news with all of you.”
With her keen observation, Phoenix realized the cause of his good mood. She instinctively asked, “Could it be that the woman from the Ecclesiastic Order has accepted you?”
Floyd didn’t expect Phoenix’s assumption to be spot on the first time.
Catching the startled look on Floyd’s face, Phoenix knew she was right.
“Give me the details. Don’t even think about lying to me. I’m sure I got it right,” Phoenix said with certainty.
Letting out a resigned sigh, Floyd explained, “Actually, she didn’t accept my feelings, not really. She would ignore me when I tried to talk to her before, but now she was talking to me again, so of course, I’m happy—”
Wariness crossed Phoenix’s face. “Is she lying to you, perhaps? I have a feeling that you’re hiding something. I felt that she could easily sway your emotions. Look at yourself! You were in such a wretched state when she ignored you earlier. Now that she’s talking to you again, you can barely contain your joy. You have given her full control over your emotion. It’s so easy for her to control you. I’m worried that she is just using you.”
Phoenix glanced at Floyd dubiously.
I previously thought Gloria had rejected Floyd, but that didn’t seem to be the case after listening to Floyd’s explanation. I think there’s something else going on between them. I’m sure it’s complicated. It seemed Floyd had been hiding a lot of secrets from us. The revelation earlier was just a slip of his tongue.
Floyd’s temper flared after hearing Phoenix’s suspicion.
“Will you quit the nonsense, Phoenix? There’s impossible! You’re wrong! I have my own judgment! I’m not a child! I hope you quit saying things like that because I won’t tolerate it. Also, stop monitoring me! I can inform Master if things are not working out.”
Floyd stomped away after admonishing Phoenix.
I’m no longer afraid of Phoenix’s suspicions anymore. Judging by Gloria’s comment, she’ll get to meet Master soon. I’ll have nothing to worry about by then.
After Floyd left, Phoenix’s doubts amplified.
There’s definitely something wrong with him. I’m not going to stop. I’m going to start looking into the past between Floyd and Gloria. Floyd didn’t take the matter seriously, but this woman was scary for being able to sway Floyd’s emotions to such a degree. No matter her intention, Floyd is in a disadvantageous position.
If she’s planning something, we’ll have a serious issue here. According to Floyd’s story, he must have been in contact with her for quite some time. Yet, we have no idea about everything that happened during the whole duration of their relationship. From the number of times how something happened every time I sent information out with Floyd around, there’s definitely something wrong here.
I’m not going to tell Master about this yet. I’ll continue looking into it and tell him when I have evidence.
Meanwhile, Gloria wasn’t concerned about anyone finding out her identity because she wasn’t scared of Levi anymore.
Instead, she wanted to kill Levi.
The war between the Ecclesiastic Order and the Esoteric Guild were raging on.
However, when both sides were about to go full-on, Levi appeared.
“Everyone, stop!”
A deafening roar from Levi had split the battlefield into two.
