    Chapter 702 Wasp Venom

“Rayleigh, you’re so stubborn. The Deragon family now is different than the one to which you used to swear allegiance. Also, I’ve heard that the Deragons suddenly have a young master, who the Deragons have even placed a bounty of three crystals on. If I were not your friend, I would have accepted the mission already. By the way, Ms. Deragon…”

“All right. I’m calling you to ask you some questions. Please stop nagging me like my grandma and stop intervening in the Deragons’ affairs.”

Rayleigh stopped Brody from dwelling on it and secretly glanced at Jared. After all, there were some things that he didn’t want Jared to know yet. Nonetheless, he was also shocked to hear that the Deragons were willing to offer three crystals as a reward for anyone who could capture Jared.

After all, crystals were an essential resource for cultivation and way more premium than spiritual stones. Given that a cultivator in Transcendence Phase like Jared could use a spiritual stone for a year, one could imagine how precious crystals were.

Jared had received some information but still didn’t get a full picture after listening to Brody. Hence, he thought he had to wait until the 15th of July to clear up his doubts.

“Feel free to ask whatever questions you have, and I’ll answer you to the best of my ability,” Brody replied.

“Do you still remember Melanie?” Rayleigh asked.

“Melanie?” Brody hesitated and did not answer for a while. Clearly, he had forgotten about her.

“Twenty years ago, you found a baby girl and asked me to raise her,” Rayleigh prompted.

After recalling the memory, Brody replied, “Oh, I remember her. Why do you want to ask about her? Did something happen?”

“Do you remember where you found Melanie? Was Melanie alone at the roadside at the time? Did you see her parents? Do you know where her home is?” Rayleigh hastily asked a barrage of questions.

After giving it some thought, Brody answered, “Her parents were holding Melanie when I found her. Their parents wanted me to take care of her. When I refused, they kneeled and begged me to accept her—”

Meanwhile, Rayleigh became frantic upon hearing that and questioned loudly, “Damn it! Didn’t you say she was an orphan? What’s this about her parents asking you to take care of her?”

Rayleigh had agreed to adopt Melanie because Brody had claimed that she was an orphan. He would have handed Melanie back to her parents if he had known she wasn’t an orphan. Since Melanie was a baby back then, she ought to be taken care of by her parents. Moreover, Rayleigh was a male and could hardly take good care of her.

“Why are you a bundle of nerves now? Melanie is indeed an orphan. Her parents died soon after they gave her to me,” Brody explained.

Feeling bewildered, Rayleigh continued to question, “They died? How did it happen? Aren’t you known as the Miracle Doctor? There’s no one that you can’t save. Why did you watch as they were dying?”

“Melanie’s parents were badly poisoned when I saw them. At that time, even God could not have saved them. Besides, since the poison in their bodies was Mapleton’s wasp venom, what could I do to save them?” Brody responded in a displeased tone.

“Mapleton’s wasp venom? Could it be that someone from Mapleton killed Melanie’s parents?” Rayleigh frowned at the thought.

“I have no idea. After Melanie’s parents died, I buried them and gave her to you!” Brody yawned and added, “I’m tired, so I’m going to continue sleeping.”

With that, Brody hung up the phone.

Rayleigh was rooted to the ground while holding the phone. Since Melanie’s parents died due to wasp venom, Rayleigh believed the murderer was someone from Mapleton. Although venomous wasps were aggressive and deadly, the Mapletons rarely used them due to various challenges in breeding them.

    Chapter 701 Not Backing Down

After coming to his senses, Rayleigh pulled Melanie away from the girl and asked in bewilderment, “Melanie, you have never met your family before. How did you know that she is your older sister?”

With a confused look, Melanie replied, “I—I don’t know. I felt close to her once I saw her and instinctively called her my older sister.”

Then, Rayleigh glanced at the girl and asked sternly, “Young lady, what is your name? Where do you come from? Who are your parents? Did you know before this that you have a twin sister?”

The girl shook her head and said, “My name is Lyanna. I’m not sure where I came from, nor do I know who my parents are. It was my godfather who raised me. I did not know I had a sister either. However, I felt a strong kinship and warmth in my heart once I saw her.”

“Who’s your godfather? Why did you want to capture me?” Jared grabbed the chance to ask Lyanna.

Nevertheless, Lyanna gazed at Jared warily and didn’t respond to his question.

When Jared wanted to grab Lyanna’s arm to continue questioning her, Melanie stopped him and said, “What are you doing?”

“Isn’t it obvious? I need to know why she was hunting me,” Jared responded with a displeased look on his face.

Anyone would be upset if they were assaulted without a reason.

“You can’t lay a finger on her. She’s my sister.” Melanie determinedly warded Jared off from Lyanna.

“I understand that you two look alike, but how can you be sure that she’s your sister? Even if we assume that she’s your sister, why can’t I fight back after she assaulted me?” Jared questioned Melanie.

“I don’t care. I’m certain that she’s my sister, and hence, you can’t touch her,” Melanie said while pursing her lips.

Although Melanie only knew Seduction Technique and was no match for Jared, she refused to back down.

Seeing as the atmosphere was growing tense, Rayleigh persuaded Jared, “Jared, you can keep the questions to yourself before we figure out who they are. For now, come out with me.”

After that, Rayleigh brought Jared to the living room, leaving Melanie and Lyanna in the bedroom.

“Let me ask Brody what’s going on because he was the one who handed Melanie over to me back then.” With that, Rayleigh took out his phone to call Brody.

Overwhelmed with doubts, Jared couldn’t help but ask, “Mr. Deragon, who is Brody? Why did he hand Melanie over to you after he picked her up on the street?”

While dialing the phone number, Rayleigh explained, “Brody Dixon is one of the four villains in the Village of Villains. Considering that Melanie was a baby girl, they thought they couldn’t raise her. Hence, Brody, who was close to me, asked me to raise her.”

“Village of Villains?” Jared frowned upon hearing it. “Are those in the village the vilest of criminals?”

Rayleigh shook his head and continued smilingly, “The ones who are afraid call them villains. However, others who like them regard them as righteous people. For me, they are some old men who punish criminals and protect the vulnerable. The only thing is that they can be a little odd.”

Just as Jared was about to question him further, someone answered Rayleigh’s call.

“Rayleigh, why are you calling me this early in the morning? Are you being hunted by the Deragons again? I’ve told you many times. I can’t interfere if the Deragons want to hunt you, for it is an internal affair in your family. However, if you join the Village of Villains, we will have reasons to protect you. In that case, the Deragons will not lay a finger on you anymore…” the person said in a sleepy voice and even yawned. It seemed that Rayleigh’s call had interrupted his sleep.

“Brody, I’m not being hunted. Besides, stop asking me to leave the Deragons. Since Old Mr. Deragon saved my life before, I will always be part of the Deragons. Forgive me for not being able to join the Village of Villains,” Rayleigh declined the invitation firmly.

    Chapter 700 Kinship

Since the girl was unconscious, Jared put her in his room and locked the door to prevent her from escaping. After that, Jared contacted Rayleigh and told him everything.

Rayleigh was shocked upon hearing it. He asked Jared to keep an eye on the girl. Then, he immediately rushed from Jadeborough to Horington with Melanie.

When dawn arrived, Rayleigh and Melanie reached Horington and saw Jared sleeping on the couch in the living room.

Jared vigilantly opened his eyes once he felt that someone was approaching. After seeing that it was Rayleigh and Melanie, he heaved a sigh and said, “Mr. Deragon, that girl is in the bedroom. I locked her in it so that she can’t escape.”

With that, Jared led Rayleigh and Melanie to the bedroom. As they were walking, Jared kept looking at Melanie. Deep down, Jared thought Melanie and the girl looked alike, with the only difference being the girl exuded a cold aura.

“Jared, why are you staring at me? Does that girl really look that much like me?” Melanie asked when she noticed that Jared kept gazing at her.

“Well, you two look practically identical,” Jared replied affirmatively.

At that, Melanie felt curious and was eager to meet the girl.

“Jared, did you say the girl used Seduction Technique as well?”

Jared nodded and replied, “Yes. She used Seduction Technique against me in the bar last night. At that time, I thought she was Melanie! Mr. Deragon, did you know who Melanie’s family was when you adopted her? Does she have any siblings?”

Rayleigh shook his head in response and said, “I didn’t meet Melanie in the first place. Someone else found her and handed her over to me. Hence, I have no idea if she has any siblings.”

Jared was surprised to know that Rayleigh wasn’t the first person who found Melanie.

They soon arrived at the bedroom. However, once Jared opened the door, a dagger plunged toward him.

Fortunately, Jared swiftly reached out and grabbed the dagger. The next moment, he crushed it into pieces with little force.

After the girl failed to hurt Jared, she wanted to escape. However, she was rooted to the floor upon seeing Melanie.

In the meantime, Melanie’s eyes went wide with shock when she saw the girl.

Since the two girls looked alike, they appeared to be reflections of one another in front of a mirror. The only difference was that they were wearing different clothes.

Rayleigh’s jaw dropped upon seeing them.

“I told you that you look just like my friend. Do you believe me now?” Jared said to the girl, who was still in a daze.

The girl didn’t respond to Jared, merely stared at Melanie. After a while, Melanie and the girl walked closer with their gazes locked on each other.

When there was about a meter between Melanie and the girl, rays of faint light suddenly exuded from their bodies before intertwining.

At that moment, Melanie and the girl could feel a strong sense of kinship, so much so that tears streamed down their faces.

“My older sister.” As tears of joy brimmed in Melanie’s eyes, she instinctively called the girl her elder sister.

“My younger sister.” The girl reciprocated while she was shedding tears of joy.

Melanie and the girl instinctively called each other sisters even though they didn’t know each other before, not to mention who was older.

Then, they tightly embraced each other.

Meanwhile, Jared and Rayleigh couldn’t believe their eyes.

Since Rayleigh had adopted Melanie when she was young, he knew that she had never met her family. Hence, he couldn’t fathom how Melanie instantly knew that the girl was her older sister. Is it just because they look alike? Even if they are twins, how did they tell who is the elder sister? Can’t Melanie be the elder one?

Rayleigh was dumbfounded as a series of questions flashed through his mind.

    Chapter 699 A Misunderstanding

“Well, since you called me a pervert, it’s only right that I show you how a pervert behaves,” said Jared.

He smiled menacingly and went after the lady.

    “Ah!”

The lady screamed while running and holding on to her clothes.

If anyone were to show up at that moment, they would’ve assumed that Jared was bullying the lady. No one would even suspect that she was the one who tried to murder him.

Jared chuckled when he saw her panicking like that. One quick step was all it took for him to zip to her side. The lady instinctively slapped him when she saw him there.

She forgot her hands were the only thing keeping her clothes intact, and that slap caused the fabric to move to the side, revealing her undergarment and shoulder.

“Huh, this is surprising. Who would’ve thought that a woman like you would wear red undergarments?” teased Jared evilly.

The lady was surprised. She realized that she had exposed herself, so she quickly tugged at her clothes to keep herself covered.

“You hooligan. I will haunt you to your grave!”

She glared evilly and parted her mouth. It seemed she was actually going to bite her own tongue off.

Jared knew she was serious about committing suicide, so he was frightened as well. He pushed her cheeks together to stop her from biting down, then knock the back of her head to render her unconscious.

    “That was intense.”

Jared couldn’t help but frown at the fainted lady.

He wouldn’t let her die until he learned all about her true identity and why she wanted to capture him. He was curious because he didn’t recall ever stepping on her toe. So why is she so determined to capture me?

Jared had no choice at that moment. As unwilling as he was, he had to carry the lady and go back to the mansion in Dragon Bay.

As he traveled over, he thought about how he’d explain the situation to Josephine and Lizbeth. They were sensitive women, especially when they were together.

When he reached the mansion, he realized that neither Josephine nor Lizbeth had gone to bed. They were watching some dramatic soap opera on the tv. Ugh, I hate those shows.

When the ladies saw Jared coming home with an unconscious woman, they both sprang up from the couch.

“Jared, who is she?” asked Josephine.

“S-She’s someone I saw on the road. I felt bad for her because she was drunk,” lied Jared. He truly had no idea how to explain the situation.

Lizbeth, however, spoke up as soon as he finished speaking. “Oy, quit lying, Jared. She’s the woman who came looking for you a few days ago. She even gave you a bronze mirror. Gah, what is her name again?”

Lizbeth exposed Jared’s lie as soon as she saw the lady’s face.

“Her name is Melanie Woodlands,” replied Josephine.

    “Ah, yes! That’s her.”

    Lizbeth nodded.

Jared was instantly stumped. He forgot Josephine and Lizbeth had met Melanie in the past. He didn’t think to lie better because the woman in his arms wasn’t Melanie at all. She was just someone who looked identical to Melanie.

“Oh my gosh, you are a piece of work, Jared. I can’t believe you lied and claimed she’s just a drunk you met on the road. Do you take me as an idiot?” demanded Josephine as she glared at Jared.

“No, no. Listen to me. She’s not Melanie but some who looks like Melanie. That’s all.”

Jared tried to explain the situation to Josephine, but she didn’t believe a word he said. That was understandable. If Jared had heard a story like that, he wouldn’t have believed it either. In fact, the girl looked so much like Melanie that even he mistook her identity earlier.

“Go have fun with the woman, Jared. I’ll leave!” roared Josephine.

    She left in a puff.

Lizbeth glared at Jared as well. After that, she left to chase after Josephine.

    “Wait, Josephine. Lizbeth!”

Jared had the lady in his arms and watched as both Josephine and Lizbeth walked away. Hopelessness and annoyance engulfed him. I guess I’ll just have to wait until I figure everything out. Only then will I be able to explain the situation to Josephine.

    Chapter 698 Pervert

Jared arched his brows when he saw that. He shook his head and sneered, “My gosh, this move looks pretty, but it is useless.”

If that lady’s opponent had been someone one rank lower than she was, her move would’ve been extremely effective. Jared, however, was the man who had just destroyed a Martial Arts Grandmaster. Thus, that move had no effect on him whatsoever.

He closed his eyes and stood on the spot. It looked as though he didn’t have what it took to fight back. That was when a few daggers flew toward him.

    “Got’cha!”

The lady shouted excitedly. She saw, with her own eyes, that her dagger had landed on Jared.

Just as she was celebrating her success, her smile turned upside down at the sight of what she saw next.

Her blade made a noise when it touched Jared’s body. It was as though two metals had hit each other. Seconds later, her blade broke apart and fell onto the floor. When she turned her attention back to Jared, she realized that he remained unharmed.

“A-Are you even human?” asked the lady as her eyes bulged in surprise.

“Just stop this nonsense. You are not strong enough to beat me. Tell me who you are. Also, I’d like to know who your parents are.”

If Jared were to find out who the lady’s parents were, he might end up helping Melanie find her family.

“Hah, forget about it! I will never tell you,” replied the lady evilly. Her eyes shone with immense anger as she did so.

The martial energy in her body kept oozing out, and the negative energy she exuded had poisoned and killed all the plants within a thirty-meter radius. Oh my gosh, I can’t believe that her tiny figure carried that much poisonous gas.

In a blink of an eye, the lady’s dagger shone once more. It looked as though it were sharp enough to cut a hole in the very fabric of reality, and it was out for blood.

A faint green glow was on the dagger, and one looked was enough to determine that it had been dipped in poison. Any contact with it would result in inevitable death.

It seemed the lady realized she didn’t have what it took to take Jared in, so she changed her plans. She was going to kill him instead.

Jared sighed a little when he saw that. He didn’t even bother to move away. Instead, he waved his hand and instantly sent the lady’s figure flying.

    Bang!

The lady smashed into the wall and was knocked senseless. She was lucky because Jared had held back. If he hadn’t, she would’ve bled to her death.

She took some time to steady herself. Even then, her eyes glowed with immense bloodlust. Jared honestly didn’t know why she hated him so much. Why does she insist on attacking me?

    “Go to hell!”

The lady shouted before going after Jared once more.

    Jared sighed again. “Enough already.”

He tapped into his spiritual energy and swung his arm. A transparent sword formed beside his hand. He moved even faster toward the lady.

Their figures clashed. They were in contact only for a brief moment before they broke apart.

Neither moved while having their backs to each other.

A few deep breaths later, the lady knew that she had been utterly crushed. She never had a shot at winning in the first place.

    “You j*rk. How could you…?”

She screamed. Both her hands were clutching her shirt as she glared at Jared.

She had to keep her hands there because there were several holes on her clothes. Her beautiful skin was almost exposed completely. The button had disappeared into thin air, so she had to keep holding on or Jared would get a really nice view.

“Just kill me. Don’t even think about doing anything dirty, though. I’d rather die than let you have things your way.”

The lady was determined. If Jared actually had any intention of doing anything, she truly would kill herself.

“Go ahead, then. All I want is your body, and I can entertain myself even after you are dead.”

He turned around. Lust burned in his eyes as he checked her out. It was as though he were a pervert and was proud of it.

    “Y-You shameless, perverted oaf.”

She didn’t expect him to say something so disgusting.

The mere thought of how he would defile her corpse after she had died sent goosebumps all over the lady.

  • A Man Like None Other Chapter 697

    Chapter 697 Mistaken

At that moment, the lady had already made it in front of Jared. She was obviously surprised to see how quickly he had reacted to her attacks.

However, that didn’t stop her assault. She kept swinging her dagger and aimed for Jared’s neck.

“I can’t believe you’re immune to my Seduction Technique. Are you even a man?” The lady was so angry that she was turning pale, and her gaze on Jared was turning cruel as well.

“Wait, do you find that strange? But… don’t you already know all that?” asked Jared. He caught the dagger and gripped it to snap it in half. The blade fell onto the floor immediately after.

At the very next second, the negative energy within the lady burst out. Black aura flushed up to reach for the sky.

It happened in a blink of an eye and the black aura engulfed Jared.

The sudden emergence of the black aura, the way the lady moved when she attacked… All that told Jared something crucial.

    “Y-You’re not Melanie?”

Jared’s gaze brimmed with surprise because the lady standing in front of him looked identical to Melanie. On top of that, they were both great at using the Seduction Technique.

He would’ve kept mistaking her as Melanie if she hadn’t attacked and used the poisonous gas. They look way, way so much alike.

He recalled every detail and noticed that the two ladies were nothing alike despite having similar appearances. For instance, the lady standing in front of him had a negative energy that Melanie didn’t.

“I’ve never said I was. You’re the one who mistook me for that Melanie lady.”

After saying that, she threw a punch at Jared.

The way she analyzed the situation was simple. The black poisonous gas had already engulfed Jared, so he would feel dizzy once the poison’s effect kicked in. Hence, there was no way he could block her punch.

Things didn’t work out the way she anticipated. Jared easily moved away from her attack. He even inhaled deeply and absorbed every bit of the poison into his system.

“Who are you? Why do you look exactly like my friend?”

Jared didn’t attack the lady. He simply stared at her curiously.

He had no idea why the lady and Melanie looked that much alike, but he believed they had to be related by blood. It was even possible that they were twins.

Jared knew that Rayleigh adopted Melanie, so it was possible that a family was blessed with twins but could only afford to raise one child. The overwhelming financial pressure eventually forced them to abandon one of their kids.

That was a time when the cost of raising a kid was rather high, so many would abandon their kid because they couldn’t afford it.

“Who am I? I am the person sent to capture you!”

After saying that, the lady attacked once more. The problem was Jared kept avoiding her attacks. She had made over ten moves in that short while; however, none of them got him, and the effort left her panting.

Jared could tell how tired she was, so he calmly stated, “Okay, that’s enough. You’re not a match against me, so you can’t possibly capture me. I just want to know who you are because you look exactly like one of my friends.”

The lady glared at Jared, who was standing right in front of her at the time. She seemed displeased. “Oh, I should stop? Why? Just because you think you’re better than me?”

“I only held back because you look like a friend of mine. If I hadn’t, you’d already be dead. Don’t assume I’m the pretentious chivalry type who wouldn’t hurt a woman. Your Seduction Technique has no impact on me, so your only option is to answer my question. Tell me who you are and why you’re trying to capture me.”

Jared glared as the aura within him became more intense.

He had already learned all about what the lady was truly capable of, but a martial artist that had just reached the Senior Grandmaster level couldn’t possibly capture him.

    “Hah, you arrogant punk!”

The girl had an evil expression on. She never gave Jared’s words much of a thought. She jumped to the sky and danced in the most peculiar way to summon several bright lights and they flew to Jared to attack him.

    “Seven Star Strike!”

The lady shouted furiously. Countless daggers rained down from the sky and caged Jared in, making it impossible for him to escape.

  • A Man Like None Other Chapter 696

    Chapter 696 Charming

Jared and Tommy drank away as loud music filled the entire place. Seeing the crowd dancing to the music like that, Jared felt rather relaxed.

Since the time he came out of prison, he hadn’t been at ease like now.

“I guess you’re a ladies’ man, Mr. Chance,” said Tommy out of the blue.

“Huh? What do you mean?” asked Jared in a confused tone.

Tommy didn’t reply. He simply signaled with his eyes. Jared followed his line of sight and saw a lady in a tight black outfit. She was staring at Jared.

She had a stoic expression on, and the way she moved showed that she didn’t belong with that crowd.

    “Huh? Did she stay?”

Jared seemed confused when he saw that girl.

Tommy chuckled. “I have to go now, Mr. Chance. Don’t stay out for too long, though. Don’t forget, you have two women waiting for you at home.”

Tommy stood up and left. Jared, on the other hand, walked toward the lady with his glass of wine with him. He sat right down beside her.

“Why haven’t you left? Did you stay just to keep me company?” asked Jared in confusion.

His words prompted the lady to stun a little. She smiled and flashed her pearly whites immediately after. The beauty she possessed could bring an entire country to its knee. Jared’s heart skipped a beat.

“Is this how you flirt with girls?” asked the lady.

“Flirting? With who? You?” said Jared. He chuckled, then added, “I am not suicidal, so there’s no way I’d flirt with you. Also, you should stop using that Seduction Technique. It doesn’t work on me.”

He walked right out of the bar afterward. Panic flashed past the lady’s eyes. She hurried to chase after him.

Jared walked in the front while the lady followed closely behind.

“Why are you following me around? Don’t even think about staying at my place. My girlfriend is there,” said Jared without holding back.

“You’re a man. Are you really okay with watching a girl like me spend the night on the streets? Perhaps we can go to a hotel instead?”

The lady looked sultry and was being coquettish to Jared. She was so close to him that her sweet perfume was drifting right into his nose.

That scent and the way the lady was looking at him… Everything made Jared’s eyes glow. He walked over as though he were under her hypnosis.

The lady grinned upon seeing that. Her eyes, however, shone with both satisfaction and distaste at the time.

Jared walked numbly to the lady, but just as she was about to take him away, his gaze instantly cleared up. He slapped her right on her head and warned, “I’ve told you, Melanie. Your tricks won’t work. If Mr. Deragon finds out you are still using your Seduction Technique on me, he will surely reprimand you.”

After smacking her across her head, Jared turned around with a smile on his face.

“Melanie? Who is that?” asked the lady, who was instantly confused.

Jared seemed surprised. He turned around to face the lady. “You’re Melanie. Why are you playing dumb? Don’t tell me you’re pretending to have lost your memories. I won’t buy your lies.”

Jared rolled his eyes at the lady. Man, this woman really knows how to act. She can be a movie star at this point.

Just as he was sighing, the lady’s figure blurred over. A bright glow from her hand ambushed Jared.

She moved quickly at that moment, and the dagger she had with her was aiming right at Jared’s face.

There wasn’t even a hint of hesitation or mercy.

    “Go to hell!”

Her eyes glowed with immense cruelty, and her gaze had more bloodlust than anyone Jared had met.

The mere sight of it dropped his jaw. “What the hell? Are you insane?”

As soon as he finished talking, the incredible aura within him flushed out.

He flicked his finger a little to send a silver needle flying. It hit the dagger and caused a flicker under the night’s sky.

  • A Man Like None Other Chapter 695

    Chapter 695 Annoying Women

Josephine actually wished that Lizbeth could join her, and together they could be with Jared. The two of them were close friends, after all. They could even keep each other company when Jared was off on his trip.

Lizbeth stayed in the washroom for an entire hour before she left. Josephine’s jaw dropped when she saw Lizbeth standing there. “Lizbeth, y-you’ve changed too. Quick, come check yourself out in the mirror.”

Lizbeth hurried to the mirror upon hearing that. She jumped with excitement when she saw how smooth and beautiful her skin was.

Jared was staring instinctively as well. After taking the detoxification pill, Lizbeth exuded a different aura.

The two ladies standing side by side were equally beautiful, but their aura was completely different.

Josephine was like a graceful deity, whereas Lizbeth was like a goddess of war. Well, that made sense since the latter used to work for the Department of Justice.

Jared couldn’t help thinking the dirty when he saw the two of them standing right in front of him.

Wow, if I have them both, I can hug them in each of my arms as I sleep at night. Oh my gosh, that would be fantastic!

Jared smiled like an idiot without realizing it. He was so deep in his fantasy that he didn’t even notice Josephine and Lizbeth walking over.

The ladies turned to one another after they stared at that stupid smile. They shouted simultaneously.

Jared jumped in response. That was when he came around and saw that both Josephine and Lizbeth were staring at him with the strangest glow in their eyes. He sat back up on the couch right away.

“Jared, what were you smiling about earlier?” asked Lizbeth.

“N-Nothing in particular,” replied Jared awkwardly.

“I bet he’s fantasizing about having the two of us sleeping with him at night. That’s probably why he was smiling like an idiot.”

Josephine hit a bull’s eye. It was exactly what was going on in his mind.

“Oh, stop bullsh*tting. That was not what was on my mind,” lied Jared. He sprang up from the couch to head out. “You girls have dinner without me. I have some errands to run.”

He no longer had the guts to stay at home. Who knows? Those ladies might actually con me into something.

Jared had nothing to do after he left the mansion in Dragon Bay, so he invited Tommy out for a drink. He knew a lot of people in the city, but only drank with a handful of them.

Soon, Jared and Tommy met up in a bar. The place belonged to the Templar Regiment, so the employees greeted them warmly as soon as they showed up.

“Mr. Chance, you just had an intense battle against Xander, so why aren’t you resting at home? How come you are out for a drink?”

Tommy had gotten them a bottle of red wine and poured Jared a glass.

“I have two women at home. Both are annoying, so I came out to get some fresh air,” replied Jared.

He grinned in exasperation before downing his drinks.

“Ah, but that life is what most men crave, isn’t it?” said Tommy. He sipped some red wine as well.

“So, how are things between you and Phoenix?” asked Jared.

“Things are normal. At our age, we’re not looking for fun and excitement. We just want a partner in life. Still, we are happy we could both serve under you, Mr. Chance.”

Tommy had always appreciated Jared because the latter was the reason he became a Grandmaster. Without Jared’s help, it was likely Tommy would never reach that level.

“Well, I’m glad you realize you’re getting older. You should hurry and make a baby soon. At least give yourself an heir. It’s not too bad for a martial artist in his early forties to have a kid.”

Anyone who reached the level of Senior Grandmaster could live longer than an average human being. Many lived to be over a hundred. In fact, that was the norm for them because they were physically stronger and healthier than the average person.

“I have never even thought about having a kid. It’s simply too troublesome.”

Tommy chuckled. He had ruled as the underground king for most of his life, so he never even thought about having a kid.

Jared simply grinned in response. He had no right to butt into matter like that, so he wouldn’t comment about it.

    Chapter 694 Fantasy

“What’s wrong? Is there something on my face?”

Josephine touched her face and was panicking a little. She even sniffed the air to check if the horrendous stench was still detectable. Yep, it’s definitely gone.

Truth was, Josephine was done ages ago, but she stayed inside for half an hour to wait for the smell to dissipate. She didn’t want to ruin Jared’s impression of her.

Hence, she was troubled when she saw how Jared and Lizbeth were stunned.

“No, that’s not it at all. Come. You should see for yourself,” replied Jared. He led her right to the mirror after that.

“My gosh, Josephine. I-It’s as though you’ve changed into an entirely different person. Your skin is smoother than a baby’s butt now,” said Lizbeth enviously while standing at the side.

Josephine was dumbstruck as well when she looked at her own reflection.

I-Is that me? Oh, my gosh! I look so wonderful.

She was still the same person she had always been, but the glow on her entire body was incredible. Her skin looked livelier, and her figure became sexier, too. In that state, any man would be tempted to stare at Josephine.

“Jared, what is going on? Does the detoxification pill have beautifying properties?” asked Josephine. She was so excited that she was trembling a little. Gah, my skin is so perfect, and it’s as though I am a newborn baby.

Jared sighed a breath of relief and reached out for Josephine’s wrist to check her pulse. He wanted to examine her physical condition. As suspected, Josephine’s blood flow was smoother. The most incredible bit, however, was that her body had zero toxic substances. It’s as though she is a newborn baby.

It only took Jared an instant to figure it out. Ah, so the detoxification pill expels all toxins in a person’s body and reverts one back to the state of a newborn baby. Being in this state is the only way to know if a person can enter the heavenly realm and learn how to cultivate spiritual energy.

The mere thought of it prompted Jared to clench his fists tightly. If Josephine makes it to the heavenly realm, then we can stay together forever.

“The detoxification pill truly is an amazing medicine.”

Jared was practically overflowing with excitement.

Josephine sensed his emotions. That allowed her to deduce how the detoxification pill truly worked.

At that moment, she no longer blamed Jared for causing her stomachache. She flung herself into Jared’s arm even though Lizbeth was standing right there.

Unfortunately, Lizbeth pried the two of them away as soon as they hugged.

“Lizbeth, what are you doing? Are you jealous?” asked Josephine. She couldn’t help smiling when she saw how eager Lizbeth was to pry them apart.

“Jealous? Puh-lease,” replied Lizbeth. She rolled her eyes at Josephine before turning her attention to Jared. Her hands reached for his shirt seconds later.

Jared was so surprised that he jumped backward. “Lizbeth, what are you doing? I am an honorable man, and Josephine is standing right there. How could you…?”

Lizbeth responded by grabbing Jared’s collar and dissing him. “What is wrong with that brain of yours? I’m just trying to get the detoxification pill back from you!”

After saying that, she fished the pill right out of his pocket and swallowed it without hesitating.

It didn’t take long before she frowned, then rushed into the washroom.

Jared and Josephine became the only ones left there. Unexpectedly, when he stepped forward to hug her, she pushed him away.

Josephine glared evilly and demanded, “What is the meaning of this? Would you have gotten together with Lizbeth if I wasn’t there earlier?”

“Huh? What do you mean? I don’t understand what you’re saying at all. Wait, you’re not trying to con me into saying something weird, are you?”

Jared looked away guiltily to avoid Josephine’s gaze. He walked right into the living room to sit on the couch.

“I knew it. Men are all pigs.”

Josephine pouted a little, but she wasn’t actually angry.

She felt as though she would be fine, even if Jared and Lizbeth had done something heinous together. All that matters is that he loves me.

  • A Man Like None Other Chapter 693

    Chapter 693 Stomachache

Inside the mansion in Dragon Bay. Josephine stared at Jared’s detoxification pill in disgust and scowled. “What the hell is this? Ugh, it smells horrible and looks so disgusting.”

Jared wanted Josephine to take the detoxification pill, but she obviously hated that idea.

“Lizbeth, take the pill. It’s amazing, and I promise your strength will increase several folds after taking it,” urged Jared who had since turned his attention to Josephine.

Unfortunately, Lizbeth was also having a hard time swallowing that pill. However, it was understandable since the smell was simply too much.

Jared was utterly speechless when he saw how both ladies refused to take the pills. He had no choice but to keep trying. “This pill is known as the detoxification pill, and it is highly coveted. Many would kill to get their hands on it, and I had to spend so much effort to get it for the two of you. Haven’t you both been wanting to practice cultivation? You’ll have to take the pill before you can do that.”

Josephine saw how irritated Jared looked, so she bit down and made her decision. “Okay, fine! Let me warn you, if this detoxification pill isn’t as great as you claim it is, I will beat you up. Seriously, why didn’t you put some sugar in it while you were making it? This smell is just too disgusting.”

After saying that, Josephine pinched her nose, popped her mouth open, and swallowed the pill right after.

The effects of the detoxification pill weren’t something regular folks could handle. Josephine frowned soon after, and her stomach grumbled.

“Are you sure that’s the detoxification pill? Did you take the wrong pill and gave me laxative instead?” asked Josephine. She had turned pale. Her hand was on her stomach as the pain ambushed her. There was no way to hold it in.

    “Josephine, what’s wrong?”

Lizbeth was going to take the pill after she saw Josephine taking it, but the way Josephine reacted after that discouraged her. She hurried over to ask how Josephine was doing.

    “Are you okay?”

    Jared panicked as well.

He had never taken a detoxification pill before, so he didn’t know what was happening either. When he saw how much pain Josephine was in, he quickly reached out for her hand to check her condition. However, she ran to the washroom before he could get to her.

    Pfft!

The continuous sound of passing gas stunned Jared. Does Josephine have food poisoning? Or is there something wrong with the pill?

Curious, Jared inched closer to the washroom and knocked on the door. “Josephine? Are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m fine. Just wait there and don’t come in,” replied Josephine. She was panicking a little and was quick to lock the door. It was simply too embarrassing. I can’t believe it stinks so badly! Oh gosh, this is so nauseating.

Josephine had to turn on the exhaustion fan and basically do everything she could to deal with the smell.

“Jared, where did you get that detoxification pill from? Were you conned? Seriously, if anything were to happen to Josephine… Well, I guess you’ll just have to drown yourself in regret.”

Lizbeth glared before tossing the detoxification pill back to him.

Jared caught the detoxification pill while having an utterly confused look on his face. It was highly unlikely that Rayleigh would lie to Jared. After all, the latter was there and watched as the former create the detoxification pill. There shouldn’t be anything off with it.

“Josephine, are you okay? Should I call an ambulance?” asked Lizbeth.

Jared was an incredible medical practitioner but Lizbeth still thought it was better to call the ambulance. It was inappropriate for a man to be too close to a woman, after all.

“No, there’s no need for that. It’s just a stomachache,” replied Josephine as quickly as possible.

With that, Jared and Lizbeth had no choice but to wait patiently. They were there for thirty long minutes before they saw Josephine leaving the toilet while blushing hard.

    “Are you okay?”

Jared hurried over when he saw Josephine.

However, he stopped short before he could finish asking all of his questions.

Josephine’s skin was practically glowing at the time, and her cheeks were a little pink. Even without her make-up on, she looked as stunning as an angel.

Lizbeth’s eyes bulged as well. She stared in astonishment, which made Josephine a little uncomfortable.
