Chapter 802 Save Your Life

Jared did not reply to Declan and simply lifted his Dragonslayer Sword. After swinging it sideways, the Dragonslayer Sword burned even more brightly. As the blazing fire flared in all directions, a buzzing sound could be heard coming from the sword.

The Dragonslayer Sword and Jared had merged together. The flares that were raging wildly were all Jared’s spiritual energy. He sent out a total of nine flares toward the nine chains.

Hiss!

When the flares met the chains, the lethal intent on the chains burst into flames, followed by a cracking sound.

All the chains that had caught on fire fell to the ground like pythons that had been decapitated. The next moment, they turned into powder and instantly dissipated. The cracks on the floor quickly closed up as well.

Pointing the Dragonslayer Sword at Declan, Jared said coldly, “Is that the best technique you have? What else do you have? Bring it on!”

Declan’s face darkened completely when his best technique, Dragon Crushing Formation, was rendered useless by Jared.

Looking at Jared, Hayden’s eyes were filled with shock. He did not understand how Jared had greatly improved his capability in just a few days.

“Brat, I can’t do anything to you today because you have the magic sword. But don’t you worry, for I’ll come back to take revenge soon.”

With that, Declan stepped back and ran down the mountain.

Seeing that, Hayden almost cursed out loud at Declan. He could not believe that Declan had fled the scene without him. Is he trying to make me the scapegoat?

Without any hesitation, Hayden turned around and ran away as well. In fact, nothing was more important than saving his own life then.

Axton and the elders were shocked to see that Declan and Hayden had fled the scene in such a cowardly manner.

Just when Axton returned to his senses and wanted to give chase, Jared quickly stopped them.

“Don’t go after them.”

He put the Dragonslayer Sword back as his face turned as pale as a sheet.

“My Lord, are you all right?” Axton hurriedly asked.

Jared shook his head before coughing out a mouthful of blood.

It seemed that Declan’s magecraft was extremely strong. If Jared had not struggled to hold on and scare him away, the situation would have turned from bad to worse.

Soon, Jared managed to walk down the mountain with Axton’s and the others’ support. Initially, he had planned to set off that day, but it was clear that he would have to take a rest in Medicine God Sect for a day now.

The next day, Jared insisted to leave Medicine God Sect despite Axton persuading him to stay longer. He knew that if he did not leave, he would not make it to Nameless Island by July 15th.

After walking out of Medicine God Sect, Jared bought a flight ticket to Southernshire. He needed to take a boat there to get to Nameless Island.

By the time he arrived in Southernshire, it was already nighttime. He bought a boat ticket in advance before he found a hotel to stay in. His plan was to take the boat to Nameless Island the next morning.

Just when Jared was having dinner in the hotel, he noticed that the business of the hotel was better than expected. Customers kept pouring in, and those people were clearly martial artists judging from the aura they were exuding. Southernshire is not a popular city. Jared was completely shrouded in Declan’s spiritual sense, but he did not resist it at all. He simply let the latter test his capability.

After some time, Declan furrowed his brows slightly. Jared certainly has the power of a Senior Grandmaster. But I noticed there was a hidden aura in him as well. Although I have no idea what it is, it’s probably safe to assume that that’s his trump card. That’s why he’s so confident in winning the battle.

“You’re only a Senior Grandmaster. How dare you challenge me to a fight? Are you seeking death or do you have some powerful backup?” Declan questioned and sneered.

He was trying to insinuate that he had found Jared’s secret.

Yet, Jared replied haughtily, “I don’t need any powerful backup to defeat you. Feel free to come at me with all you have.”

“Hah! How arrogant! I bet I can finish you off with just one hand.”

As he spoke, Declan’s sleeves puffed up. Then, countless specks of light gathered toward him. Before long, his entire body was enveloped by the lights, making him shine like the sun.

Seeing that, Jared immediately activated his spiritual energy. As his fingers began to move swiftly, a thunderstorm started to pick up before him. All the stones on the ground were blown away as the wind became stronger.

Declan smirked when he saw the storm in front of Jared. “What an amateur…”

The next moment, he shot out two charms from his sleeves. The dazzling lights from his body gathered on the charm, and they instantly turned into two giant dragons which were glowing in a shade of gold.

Seeing that, Axton and several other elders were stunned. “Magecraft is amazing…”

Boom!

With a wave of his hand, the golden dragons dashed toward Jared.

Despite so, Jared was not afraid at all. He waved his hand lightly and directed the storm in front of him toward the two golden dragons. Soon, the thunderstorm had completely swallowed the dragons, and the dragons started spinning inside the storm.

The dragons suddenly disappeared as they were spun rapidly within the thunderstorm, turning them into specks of light again. The thunderstorm also slowly disappeared after that.

After the dust had settled, only a total mess could be seen at the scene. There were no changes in Jared and Declan as if the battle had not even happened.

“Is that all you have?” Jared taunted.

Declan’s face completely darkened as he glared at Jared. He gnashed his teeth and spat, “I didn’t expect you to be so good in magecraft. Seems like I’ve underestimated you. Now, I’ll show you my Dragon Crushing Formation.”

After he finished speaking, he slowly stretched out his palms.

Then, he started mumbling the spell before his hands began to release magic seals. Those magic seals kept making sounds of explosions in the air.

Before long, the peak of the mountain started shaking. There were countless cracks appearing around Jared. Within the cracks, there were some chains with the thickness of an arm. Those black chains were exuding lethal intent.

There were a total of nine chains that resembled pythons baring their fangs. Knowing that those chains would attack him soon, Jared frowned.

Initially, Jared wanted to use Focus Technique to absorb the lethal intent from the Dragon Crushing Formation. However, he knew that before he could absorb all the lethal intent, Declan would kill him first. After all, he had noticed that Declan was much stronger than he had anticipated.

“Dragonslayer Sword.”

Jared splayed his right palm and the magic sword, which was engulfed in flame, appeared in his hand.

Declan’s face darkened when he realized that Medicine God Sect was giving their all just for Jared’s sake.

Jared slowly stepped to the front and asked, “Didn’t all of you come to take revenge on me? I’ll give you a chance to fight me in a duel now. If you win, you can do whatever you want to me…”

He did not want the innocent people of Medicine God Sect to lose their lives because of him. Although he knew there was a high probability of winning if Medicine God Sect joined in the fight, the fact remained that there would definitely be casualties.

Axton looked at Declan and furrowed his brows slightly. “Who are you? Are you a backup of Hayden Xuereb?”

“This is master of the Turcoln clan, Master Declan Naberhaus. The very Curtis whom Jared murdered was Master Naberhaus’ most prized disciple. He is here to seek revenge against Jared as well,” Hayden pointed at Declan and introduced him to the elders of the sect.

Axton and the elders’ expressions darkened slightly at the mention of the Turcoln clan.

Declan was a master of magecraft, and a devious one at that. He would deploy all forms of resources, be it talismans, arcane arrays, charms, and even energy of heaven and earth to fight, unlike martial artists. The latter only relied on their own power, and even powerful ones like Martial Arts Grandmasters, relied on bursts of their own energy to fight.

Hence, there was a notable difference between martial artists and magecraft practitioners. In fact, most martial artists were wise enough to steer clear of magecraft practitioners.

Even though Axton and the elders were Martial Arts Grandmasters, they were clueless about magecraft. Hence, they would lose even if Declan were to craft the simplest illusion array. Therefore, they were bewildered at the mention of Declan from the Turcoln clan.

“Master Naberhaus, we offer our deepest apologies for the killing of your dearest disciple. We would gladly offer our most sincere compensation for your loss, even if it means giving away ten of our revitalizing pills to you. Jared Chance has been anointed as the new Lord of Medicine God Sect. If you insist on killing him, all of us here at Medicine God Sect will be left with no choice but to go all out and put up a good fight to defend our newly anointed lord,” Axton said in a rather courteous manner.

Axton’s remarks left Hayden and Declan speechless, especially Hayden.

After all, the compensation offered by Axton was far too generous to reject. If Declan were to agree to the terms, it would leave the Empyrean Sect to fight against Jared alone, making it a rather futile attempt.

“Mr. Knox, do not take us for a fool. How is it possible that Jared has become the new Lord of Medicine God Sect? Hayden turned to Declan and said, “Master Naberhaus, do not fall prey to their false claims. Jared is nothing but an ignorant young man. He cannot possibly be the Lord of Medicine God Sect. They are spewing nonsense and trying to drive a wedge between us so that they can deal with us one by one!”

Declan said nothing as he transfixed his stare at Axton. After some time, he finally uttered, “I do not care who this Jared is for he has to die. If you do not wish for blood to be spilled at Medicine God Sect, I would like to advise you to hand the man over. I promise that I will never bring trouble upon the sect.”

Declan did not believe in Axton’s claim that Jared was anointed as the new Lord of Medicine God Sect as well.

It was clear as day that the elders present were much stronger than the young man. Why would they be at Jared’s beck and call?

It simply did not make any sense.

“Master Naberhaus, if you do not believe it, then I am afraid we are left with no choice but to fight you to death,” Axton declared as he glanced at Timothy to his side.

Jared recalled something and said, “It should be Hayden Xuereb from the Empyrean Sect. I think he’s found an acquaintance in seeking revenge from me.”

Only Hayden knew that Jared had come to Medicine God Sect. He was also the only plausible person to demand somebody from Medicine God Sect.

“How dare he! I will kill him for stirring trouble at Medicine God Sect!” Axton snapped in fury.

He did not think that Hayden had the audacity to come after he graciously let the latter off the hook last time.

Killing Hayden was a piece of cake to Axton.

The other elders were still oblivious to what transpired. However, they were likewise infuriated that a brazen fellow came provoking them.

“Let’s go check it out. Don’t strike unless it is truly necessary. You guys have depleted your energy just now and have yet to recuperate,” Jared advised Axton.

Axton and the elders had exhausted a lot of their energy trying to defend against the lethal intent tornado. Since they did not have time to replenish, they would surely be at a disadvantage should they engage in a fight.

“Hayden, how dare you bring people to cause trouble here at Medicine God Sect when I’ve gracefully let you off the hook back then? What do you take Medicine God Sect for?” Axton chided.

“Mr. Knox, why bother conversing with them? We should just take the lives of those who dare to cause a scene at Medicine God Sect!” Damian, the third-ranking elder, who was donning a black robe, demanded as he exuded a murderous aura.

The elders were all Martial Arts Grandmasters. Even though Damian was of the same rank, he still paled in comparison with the elders of the sect. Hence, Damian felt chills down his spine at the sight of the vexed third-ranking elder.

However, he soon calmed down as he turned to Declan. Hayden then turned his attention back to Axton and said, “Jared Chance has killed my son, and I must avenge my son! He knew that Axton had to tend to his own matters, and it would be impractical to ask him to stay at Medicine God Sect at all times.

As long as Jared agreed to take on the role as the new Lord of Medicine God Sect, Axton did not think it was necessary to require his constant presence in the sect.

“My Lord, even though the rejuvenating pill is remarkable, it still requires 49 days for your friend to regain her consciousness. Moreover, she requires ample rest as well,” Axton explained to Jared.

Jared knew that he had to leave Lyanna at Medicine God Sect to recuperate right then. Time was of the essence since there were only a few days left to July 15. Chapter 796 Redemption

Jared took the rejuvenating pill and planned to feed it to Lyanna. However, he was stopped by the elders just when he was about to leave.

I could absorb and refine them to my advantage. That was the reason that I could leave unscathed even after charging into the lethal intent tornado.”

Axton and the others were humbled after listening to Jared. They did not think there would be such a powerful technique out there.

“Jared, you’re not lying to us, right? How could there be such a technique in the world? What is the name of your technique?” Axton asked, surprised.

“Focus Technique,” Jared answered truthfully.

At the mention of the vitality pill, the other elders lowered their heads in remorse.

Axton explained himself as he noticed Donald getting all nervous. Only then did Donald dare to recount the affairs that happened back in the depths of the sect. Sure enough, his statements were in line with Jared’s. Axton and the other elders were finally convinced that the old lord had anointed Jared as the new Lord of Medicine God Sect and tasked the latter to bring Medicine God Sect to greater heights.

Astral Attraction was a type of technique that originated from Demonic Cultivation. They could not help but wonder if he was also practicing Demonic Cultivation since he knew of the technique.

Just when the elders were dumbfounded, the Lord of Medicine God Sect could feel his energy diminishing inside his body. He retracted a few steps back in shock as he tried to free himself from Jared’s control.

Axton and the elders still could not snap out of the shocking revelation and did not strike out in time as they started to have doubts about Jared’s true identity.

“Hurry up and don’t let him get away!” Jared raised an octave.

Axton gritted his teeth and pressed down on the Lord of Medicine God Sect’s shoulders in an attempt to stop the latter from running away.

The other elders helped him out afterward as they restrained the Lord of Medicine God Sect.

He struggled and bellowed, “You traitors! I am the Lord of Medicine God Sect! All of you should submit yourselves to me!”

The Lord of Medicine God Sect turned hysterical as his body shrunk down considerably. Soon, his strength diminished as well.

After about ten minutes, the Lord of Medicine God Sect’s body had shrunken down to a fraction of his original size. The man was reduced to a skeleton and widened hollow eyes. There was no longer life to the once fearsome man.

Only then did Jared release his grip, so did the elders.

With a plop, the body of Lord of Medicine God Sect slumped to the floor. Then, a green pill rolled out of the man’s body.

The bright green pill exuded a fragrant scent.

“What is this?” Jared asked as he picked up the pill.

“This… this is the rejuvenating pill,” Axton said. “Jared, your friend will be surely be fine after taking this pill.”

Jared took a closer look, and he could feel life emanating out of the pill. How fascinating.

“This pill is truly extraordinary. The fact that it exudes life is as if it is breeding new life within…”

Jared injected a fraction of his spiritual sense into the rejuvenating pill as he was curious as to how the pill was crafted.

To his disappointment, his spiritual sense could only feel that he had entered a teeming and vast green field. The breath of life was so intense that Jared could not detect the presence of anything else. As a result, he could not figure out how the pill was crafted.

He shut his eyes, and the Holy Guide to Pill Crafting appeared in his mind. Then again, he could not find any entries related to the rejuvenating pill.

Jared then thought about how the Holy Guide to Pill Crafting was the previous Lord of Medicine God Sect’s life work. It was improbable that it would cover every single type of pill there ever was. If that was the case, the previous Lord of Medicine God Sect would have been the master of pills.

Chapter 794 Believe It

Upon a closer look, the fireballs bared their fangs and claws. The more bizarre thing was that these fireballs were actually wailing heads of babies.

All of a sudden, over ten fireballs lunged in Jared’s direction as they all let out bone-chilling cries.

“All of you should believe me by now, right? If it were not for Demonic Cultivation, why would magecraft like this exist? The Vitality Pills that you ate were all crafted using the hearts of babies. All of you will have to atone for the sins that you have committed your whole life…” Jared turned around and said impassively as he leveled a stare at Axton and the other elders.

They grimaced in response as it had never once crossed their minds that the Vitality Pills that they had been ingesting were crafted from the hearts of babies. Some of the elders started to throw up upon the realization.

If they had known about this, they would not have cared about longevity and taken the abominable pills.

“As part of Medicine God Sect, we have been practicing medicine for thirty years and pride ourselves in thinking that we are upright and honest men. Now that we have committed such unforgivable sins, the unimpeachable reputation of Medicine God Sect is now in ruins! We have to kill the bast*rd that defiled the reputation of Medicine God Sect, no matter what it takes!” Axton said to the other elders.

Then, Axton took in a deep breath and took a leap as he blew out punches packed with energy that crushed one of the fireballs.

The other elders followed suit as they started to attack the fireballs.

Jared unsheathed his Dragonslayer Sword. The fire on his sword burned much brighter than the fireballs.

A few fireballs exploded with just a few swings.

The Lord of Medicine God Sect furrowed his brows at the sight of Axton and the other elders’ attack.

He knew that he was no match for Jared and the elders without the help of formations. Seeing as they were all teamed up against him, the Lord of Medicine God Sect gritted his teeth and turned the burning flames of his body into rains of fire that charged toward the group at full speed.

At the same time, the Lord of Medicine God Sect hurriedly retracted himself as he planned to abscond Medicine God Sect.

“You won’t be getting away from this so easily!”

Jared jumped and swung the Dragonslayer Sword in his hand. The flames on his sword acted like a flamethrower as it sent the flames tens of meters away.

The Lord of Medicine God Sect could feel the strong gust of wind approaching his back and he hurriedly rolled over to the front. Even though he managed to dodge the attack, Jared’s attack still burned a hole through his clothes, making the man look utterly miserable.

Right then, Axton took the opportunity and led the other elders to surround the Lord of Medicine God Sect.

Jared stepped up and pointed his Dragonslayer Sword right at the man menacingly.

“Mr. Knox, we’ve been working together for thirty years, and I’ve crafted countless pills for all of you. Are you guys really going to do this to me?” The Lord of Medicine God Sect looked at Axton and asked indignantly.

“Shut up!” Axton snapped in fury. “You’ve succumbed to Demonic Cultivation, and you smeared the name of Medicine God Sect by committing unspeakable sins out there. How could you stoop so low to use the beating hearts of babies to craft the Vitality Pills? Electing you as the Lord of Medicine God Sect is the biggest mistake in my life. I’m going to spill your blood to appease the deceased souls today!”

The other elders, likewise, threw daggered looks at the Lord of Medicine God Sect. They had never thought that the man they once revered practiced Demonic Cultivation and even opted for sick means to accomplish his twisted wants. It pained them to think just how many babies had been sacrificed because of them.

The Lord of Medicine God Sect gritted his teeth. All of a sudden, a wisp of black mist appeared in between his hands as it formed a black sphere.

“Since all of you wish for my death, I shall drag everyone along to hell!” the man bellowed as the sphere in his hands became bigger and bigger. Then, the enlarged sphere exuded a ray of green light.

Chapter 793 Insignificant

Soon, even the buildings nearby began to collapse. Some people were even blown to the sky because of the violent wind. Everyone scrambled and shrieked for their lives, but the Lord of Medicine God Sect was unfazed by the chaos and had no intention to stop the madness. He merely stared indifferently as innocent people got caught up in the vortex and had their bodies torn into pieces.

Axton and the other elders did their utmost in setting up a barrier to block that tornado’s impact to reduce further damage to the entire Medicine God Sect.

Jared looked up leisurely. Even though he was as tiny as an ant next to the towering tornado, he did not feel afraid. A layer of golden light slowly enveloped Jared’s body. Then the golden light expanded suddenly, causing Jared to appear as if he had become a giant too. Without any hesitation, he stepped into the storm.

Axton was dumbfounded and puzzled when he saw Jared’s foolish action. Is he trying to get himself killed?

Jared had done what Axton feared to do. He was facing the powerful tornado head-on.

The Lord of Medicine God Sect sneered, “Hahaha, what a stupid brat. I’ve offered you the easy way out, yet you refused to accept. Now you’re giving up your life on your own accord.”

The Lord of Medicine God Sect laughed hysterically. He was under the assumption that no one could survive within the tornado, not even a Martial Arts Grandmaster.

The raging tempest was causing shattered pieces of rocks to fly about and the formation of a deep crevice on the ground. Not affected by the howling gale, Jared stood in the middle of the vortex.

Others could no longer distinguish Jared’s figure, but they thought Jared’s body must have been torn and shredded by the unforgiving wind.

With the Focus Technique activated, Jared gradually opened his mouth and swallowed a portion of the lethal intent.

The size and intensity of the tornado decreased progressively until nothing was left.

As the dust clouds began to settle, Jared’s body, covered in dirt, gradually came into sight.

The lethal intent gathered by the Lord of Medicine God Sect using the arcane array had, in turn, benefited Jared and markedly improved his capabilities.

Jared could feel spiritual energy saturating his elixir field and power coursing through his entire being.

Axton and the other elders were shocked to their cores.

“Insignificant?” Two columns of flames suddenly shot out from the Lord of Medicine God Sect’s eyes as he spoke. At the same time, his body emitted clouds of black smoke. When the black smoke, with properties of gasoline, made contact with the flames, the fire spread quickly all over the Lord of Medicine God Sect’s body.

The Lord of Medicine God Sect ignited with almost his entire body engulfed in flames.

“Inferno Technique!” the Lord of Medicine God Sect roared.

Instantaneously, he unleashed a volley of fireballs from his blazing body.
