    Chapter 1142 Beware Of Tricks

Though he did not know about the grudge between Coby and Jared, Skylar assumed that his host and Jared had crossed paths before when Coby struck under the assumption that he, Skylar, was Jared from their first meeting.

Unbeknownst to Skylar, Coby did not actually have a grudge. Instead, Coby’s intention to duel with Jared was just to stroke his ego.

Skylar hurriedly set his coffee down and stood up when Coby appeared in the hall.

“Mr. Coby!” Skylar called out courteously.

“Mr. Norton, to what do I owe the pleasure of your visit to my humble abode? Oh, you appear injured!”

Coby leered at Skylar as he continued, “Who in such a destitute place as Xenhall would dare to lay a finger on you, Mr. Norton?”

Skylar did not take Coby’s ridicule to heart, as he was in the latter’s house asking for his help.

“Weren’t you seeking Jared, Mr. Coby?” Skylar said pleasantly. “I’m here today to inform you of his movements.”

“Oh? Are your injuries a gift from Jared, then? I’m afraid to disappoint you, but I do not have a grudge against Jared. Your information about his movements is useless to me. I’m not going to pick a fight with Jared for your sake.”

Coby leaned his face closer to Skylar’s as he continued his torment, “Why don’t you return to your home for reinforcements to avenge yourself?”

Skylar’s expression stiffened before quickly regaining his calm. “I’m not here to ask for your help fighting Jared today, Mr. Coby. I have a secret to tell you. It is something good for you Rowlings.”

Coby’s eyes narrowed as his gaze fixated on Skylar. “Are you referring to the secret of the tower at Gardner Manor?”

Skylar was taken aback. “How did you know?” he blurted.

Coby roared with laughter at Skylar’s expression. “Hah! I wasn’t sure before, but I am now. There is a secret to the tower at Gardner Manor.”

Skylar froze as he realized Coby had tricked him. Coby had hitherto been unaware of the secret of Pentacarna Tower.

Skylar nodded. “You are right. There is a secret to the tower at Gardner Manor. Thanks to it, I have been able to break through so quickly to become a Top Level Martial Arts Grandmaster.”

“Really?” Coby asked curiously. “What secrets does it contain?”

Skylar glanced about him in response.

Coby understood at once. “Leave us, all of you,” he ordered.

“Be wary of any tricks, Mr. Coby,” Jericho reminded Coby in a whisper to the latter’s ear.

“Tricks, my foot! He’s no match for me, even in his prime! Besides, he’s injured anyway. Leave us, all of you.”

    Coby flapped his hand irritably.

Soon, only Coby and Skylar remained in the hall.

“You may speak now,” Coby said brusquely.

Skylar gritted his teeth before relenting by telling Coby, whose eyes were ablaze, all the secrets of Pentacarna Tower.

“Who would have thought there was such an amazing artifact at Gardner Manor? It turns out this tower has been the cause of Karl’s meteoric progress, even becoming Baron of the Northwest.”

Coby licked his lips before continuing, “Thank you for telling me all this, Mr. Norton. Rest assured, the tower at Gardner Manor now belongs to the Rowlings. Nobody else will be allowed access. Of course, that includes you Nortons. If you still wish to occupy the tower, it would depend on the approval of us Rowlings.”

Skylar was taken aback. “Are you not going to deal with Jared, Mr. Coby?” he asked with a frown.

Coby cackled jeeringly. “Why would I deal with him if he’s going to leave Xenhall quietly? Besides, he can’t move the entire tower, can he?”

    Chapter 1141 Ulterior Motive

It was only after running a dozen miles in a single breath that Skylar dared stop.

His chest throbbed with dull pain as he panted heavily.

Skylar had received the full force of Jared’s blow to secure his escape.

“It’s not over between us, Jared. I will have you pay the price.” His features were twisted with rage, though he felt envious upon recollecting Jared’s shining bead.

He had never seen such a powerful instrument before.

“How many more secrets does Jared have up his sleeve?” Skylar muttered to himself as he frowned.

After catching his breath for several moments, Skylar departed hastily once more. He was afraid that Jared would catch up.

To ordinary people, the distance of several dozen miles was perhaps a lengthy one.

To men like Skylar, however, it only required several moments to cover that distance.

At that very moment, Jared had already entered Pentacarna Tower to cultivate.

He had no interest in wasting his precious time hunting Skylar down.

Though Coby’s eyes were shut as he remained basking in the sun at the Rowling residence in Marsingfill, other matters occupied his mind.

“Why do you think Skylar wants to cultivate in Xenhall despite the distance, Jericho?” Coby asked his subordinate, who was flanking him. “And also to occupy Karl’s estate?”

Coby had been puzzling over that subject ever since his return from Xenhall. Skylar definitely did not restore the estate for Karl’s family out of kindness.

He also knew that Skylar’s praise of Xenhall’s serene environment was a lie. Coby did not believe that for a second, as Xenhall was in an impoverished state.

“I have a strange feeling about the tower at Gardner Manor, Mr. Rowling,” Jericho said thoughtfully. “Every building on the wide expanse of the Gardners’ estate has been rebuilt, yet only that tower remains old-looking. It’s possible that Skylar came for that tower, though I have no idea what it is used for.”

“I arrived at the same conclusion as well,” replied Coby. “I suspect that there is more to that tower than meets the eye. I had never seen that tower over my numerous visits to Gardner Manor; I think it used to be an old apartment. I’ve even asked Karl why he had such an old building on his land, and he said that that was the shrine of the Gardner family and that he could not demolish it. From the sound of it, the decrepit building is only a front. That tower must be what’s hidden within. It must contain secrets.”

Coby stood up suddenly, his eyes glinting.

“Gather our men at once. We are going to Xenhall.”

Coby was determined to take a trip to Xenhall and uncover the secret once and for all.

As Xenhall fell under his jurisdiction, he was not going to let the tower’s secrets, if any, fall into Skylar’s hands.

Though the Nortons were a prestigious family in Jadeborough, they had no influence on Xenhall.

A servant scrambled in just when Jericho was about to rally the men. “There is somebody in the yard outside requesting an audience with you, Mr. Coby,” he reported.

Coby was taken aback. “With me? Who is it?”

“He says he is Skylar Norton of Jadeborough, and he’s here just to see you, Mr. Coby,” the servant replied. “He also looks like he’s injured.”

“Skylar!” he muttered in surprise before waving his hand. “See him to the hall. I will be over there shortly.”

Jericho started forward as soon as the servant departed. “Could Skylar’s sudden appearance mean an ulterior motive on his part?”

“We’ll decide after taking a look. We are in the Rowling residence. What can Skylar’s little schemes do to me?” Coby headed toward the hall after responding.

Skylar was, at that moment, seated in the hall having a cup of coffee. He did not look too good.

Despite his injury, Skylar had run the entire way without pausing for breath. Instead of returning to Jadeborough, he intended to eliminate Jared with the Rowlings’ help.

    Chapter 1140 A True Immortal

A blinding light flashed at the appearance of the bead as a blissful force enveloped Jared.

“Is this my golden elixir?” Jared gazed in disbelief at the bead before him. The blissful force emanating from it made him feel at ease.

Upon being illuminated by the warm light, the biting cold steel chains and the howls of damned souls froze abruptly before slithering back beneath the earth.

With the return of the steel chains into the earth, the dragons gave a final roar before disappearing within Jared.

Skylar frowned, his eyes filled with astonishment at the shimmering bead before him.

As he did not know what a golden elixir was, Skylar thought it was just another magical item that Jared possessed because he had too many to keep track of.

Every item is a priceless treasure, from the Dragonslayer Sword to the Storage Ring and from the draconic essence to the bead before me.

Skylar’s eyes were bloodshot with envy.

“When you die, Jared, all your treasures will belong to me!”

As Skylar spoke, the black halo above his head glowed as it brimmed with murderous intent.

Like a laser beam, the black light destroyed everything it pierced.

In response, Jared raised his hands slowly, and the golden elixir fell slowly into his palm.

Pulses of gentle power surrounded Jared and solidified into the golden elixir, representing the commencement of his journey to spiritual energy cultivation.

This gentle power must be spiritual power!

With a graceful wave of his hand, Jared sent the pulsating sphere of raw power toward the black light.

The prospect of a collision between two opposing forces capable of armageddon was frightening.

However, the earth-shattering scenario one expected did not occur. There was not even a sound.

Upon contact, the black light disappeared completely. After a prolonged bout of uncontrollable vibrating, the black halo above Skylar’s head crumbled into dust.

    “What…”

Skylar’s eyes widened in shock, not daring to believe his own eyes.

He did not know that the bead in his adversary’s hand was capable of such power.

“What sort of magical item do you have there?” Skylar asked Jared despite himself.

Jared gazed at his golden elixir and chuckled lightly. “I’ll tell you when you’re dead.”

Jared opened his mouth and swallowed the golden elixir. Then, the blissful force disappeared.

Skylar gazed at Jared in disbelief, convinced for a brief moment that the man before him was a true immortal.

“Your formation doesn’t seem to be able to do much. It can’t even hold down a mortal such as myself.”

After Jared spoke, golden light bathed his right hand, which he aimed at Skylar.

Despite the mercy Jared had shown Skylar earlier, the latter did not appreciate it. Jared had no other option than to deal the lethal blow.

Skylar had never felt so frightened as he did when he sensed the terrifying aura approaching him. His resolve to continue his duel with Jared suddenly crumbled.

He had no more tricks up his sleeve. Only death awaited him if he remained.

Skylar reached into his breast pocket and extracted the Necro Ring.

As soon as Jared caught sight of Skylar’s movement, he knew immediately that the latter intended to escape.

His body disappeared in a flash as he aimed a ferocious slap at his foe.

    Boom!

Jared’s slap struck Skylar on the chest and sent him flying backward instantly.

Gritting his teeth to endure the pain in midair, Skylar flung the Necro Ring out of his hand.

A black portal appeared the next moment out of thin air, which Skylar fell straight through and vanished.

“D*mn it! He escaped!” Jared cursed as he secretly envied Skylar for having the Necro Ring in his possession. If he had a magical item of space manipulation, he, too, would be able to escape when he ran into danger.

    Chapter 1139 Godcatcher Formation

The black light solidified slowly to form a shape above Skylar’s head, soon revealed to be a circle of black light. It was so dark within that nothing was visible.

Besides that, the space within the light appeared to be rippling like the surface of a still lake blown by a mighty wind.

Jared frowned slightly at the sight. “Is this fellow summoning another creature?”

Skylar and Karl had once summoned creatures on Dragon Island, and Jared assumed that Skylar would play the same old trick.

Despite the long wait, nothing emerged from the black circle of light.

Instead, a humming sound began, followed by an overwhelming force emanating from the circle of light. The sound waves crashed against Jared’s body like the ocean in a tempest.

“Let me tell you something, Jared. This is the Godcatcher Formation, a magecraft technique from an ancient text that is centuries old. You won’t be able to escape even if you are immortal.”

Skylar glared at Jared as his face began to contort.

It was challenging and draining for Skylar to conjure such a spell.

However, Skylar was willing to push himself for an opportunity to kill Jared.

The dark light continued solidifying as the oppressive force kept its relentless assault. Everything touched by the sonic booms turned to dust.

As the force spread outward, even the rubble in the estate turned to dust, with nothing spared within a radius of several hundred meters. Even the remains of the civilians killed by Skylar’s martial energy were turned into a fine mash of blood and flesh.

In the near distance, Pentacarna Tower emitted a rumble as though resisting the oppressive force.

Aside from Jared and Skylar on the barren land spanning thousands of square meters, only Pentacarna Tower remained upright.

Jared felt the immense pressure in his bones as their creaking became incessant.

The pressure came in waves without allowing Jared the opportunity to breathe.

The earth shuddered suddenly when the scales on Jared’s body began to disintegrate from the oppressive force.

Like feelers, chains as black as ink emerged one after another.

A total of eighteen steel chains, black as ink, clinked with cold menace as they formed a cage and imprisoned Jared within it.

The chains looked like they had risen from the eighteenth level of hell. Shrieks of damned souls that sent shivers down one’s spine could still be heard amidst the rustle of the chains.

“Nicely done on the Godcatcher Formation. However, I wonder if it could detain an immortal like myself.”

As soon as Jared spoke, the draconic essence in his chest began to shine as the Power of Dragons exploded forth, creating a massive dragon circling Jared’s body.

Pentacarna Tower suddenly quivered right before Jared unleashed the Power of Dragons. Immediately afterward, a dense firefly-like cloud poured out of Pentacarna Tower.

The lights were visible even during the day. Billions of them drew nearer and gathered as one before disappearing into Jared’s chest.

Skylar’s pupils dilated. His eyes were filled with disbelief.

He did not know what the lights that had flown out of Pentacarna Tower were.

The power within Jared began to grow. Amidst roars, massive dragons took to the skies from Jared’s body.

Eighteen massive dragons promptly encircled the eighteen black steel chains. Gold light emanated from the dragons, forming a stark contrast to the icy cold chains.

Skylar watched the events before him with his mouth hanging open.

“Draconic essence? The Power of Dragons?” His gaze burned with greed and rage.

The draconic essence would have been mine if it were not for Jared. The terrifying Power of Dragons would also have fallen into my hands. Now it has become part of Jared’s arsenal.

Light spilled forth endlessly from Jared. A bead, shining like a multifaceted gem, flew out of him.

Chapter 1138 Done Toying With You

The sound of bones cracking erupted suddenly all over Skylar’s body as he glared at Jared’s back.

Jared spun around and found Skylar’s body on the ground like a grotesque heap of mud. An instant later, his body reconstructed on its own accord and stood upright again.

Once back on his feet, the bruises disappeared from Skylar’s face.

A dark light erupted from Skylar’s body as if he was shining from within.

“I will have you dead!” Skylar roared as a drop of blood, dark as ink, shot out between his brow.

He caught and manipulated it with his hands. The drop of ink-like blood suddenly began to burn with astonishing flammability.

Skylar’s body, meanwhile, was grilling in the blaze.

Every inch of his skin began to wither and turn into the color of black ink. Under the brilliance of the flame, his dark skin emitted a strange light.

The embers died, revealing the sheen of refined metal all over Skylar’s body while a terrifying cold rose from within him.

Jared smirked at the sight of the blackened Skylar. “That’s not what I meant by well-done. I never knew what a terrible cook your father taught you to be.”

Skylar was infuriated by Jared’s words. “I will tear your tongue out!” he raged, his eyes wide and unblinking.

Skylar dashed toward Jared and threw a ferocious punch.

Jared, on the other hand, rose to meet the challenge. His body disappeared in a flash of gold light before layers of scales began attaching themselves to his skin.

    Clang! Clang! Clang!

The two combatants launched assaults on each other with the most primal display of their strength.

Every strike sounded like metal clanging against one another.

Sparks flew in all directions as thunder crashed continuously.

Two shadow clones, of black and gold each, intertwined in the air. The terrifying martial energy spread in all directions.

No single structure in the estate was left intact except for Pentacarna Tower, which remained upright.

    Boom!

Skylar and Jared each threw out a punch at the same time. Skylar’s fist landed ferociously on Jared’s chest like a cannon blast. The massive force of the terrifying gust of martial energy exploding upon impact caused Jared’s body to shake.

At the same time, Jared’s fist also landed on Skylar’s body which caused Skylar to stumble several paces backward with a similar explosive noise.

It appeared that Skylar was still inferior to Jared despite the extent of the former’s skill in magecraft.

    Skylar roared with murderous intent.

An instant later, his body turned into a stream of flowing light before dashing at Jared with a bang that shattered the stratosphere.

“This is a good training opportunity.”

Jared narrowed his eyes as he, too, dashed forward.

Cultivation can increase power, but only constant battles will improve martial techniques and strength control.

Jared’s battle with Skylar gained him a deeper understanding.

    Boom!

The noise of near-constant collisions between the two of them was deafening.

Jared channeled Sacred Light Fist and brought a barrage of golden fists down upon Skylar.

At the same time, Skylar unleashed a flurry of strikes that hammered down upon Jared.

The two of them went back and forth. It was, by that point, a duel between pure strength and physical endurance.

    Boom!

The combatants leaped apart. Each was panting slightly for breath.

The battle incurred a massive expenditure of energy. Jared had managed to hold on thus far by relying on the spiritual energy in his elixir field and the Power of Dragons. Skylar, on the other hand, persisted with the use of magecraft.

    “Is this all you got?”

Jared glared at Skylar with a scowl. “If it is, then I’m done toying with you.”

Skylar froze, an ugly expression contorting his features.

Despite constantly doing his best, Jared had managed to match it with the greatest of ease.

“Stop pretending this isn’t making you sweat. I know you’ve reached your limit as well. Next, I will show you the true extent of my power!”

As Skylar spoke, blinding black light exploded from him before it slowly broke free of his body and restored his skin to its normal color.

  • A Man Like None Other Chapter 1137

    Chapter 1137 Humiliation

Jared’s body slammed hard onto the ground and even caused a huge crater.

The manor, which was under construction, had turned into ruins.

Blood gushed out from Jared’s mouth, and there was a ghastly wound on his body.

    “Hahaha! That’s it?”

Skylar returned to his original form and ridiculed Jared.

Jared got up slowly, wiped the blood away, and smiled.

Skylar was taken aback when he saw Jared smiling. “Death is upon you. Yet, you are smiling?”

“How do you know death is upon me?”

Jared smiled coldly and stretched his arm out. Instantaneously, the Dragonslayer Sword appeared in his hand.

There were flames on the Dragonslayer Sword, and they turned half the sky a shade of bright red.

“Hmph! You won’t be able to hurt me with a sword,” sneered Skylar.

Once again, Skylar turned his body into flashes of incantations.

    “Nine Shadows…”

Jared began spinning, and thereafter, one of him became two, two turned into three…

In the end, there were six identical Jareds standing in front of Skylar with the Dragonslayer Swords in their hands.

At that moment, the spells also turned into a humongous palm again and slammed down on Jared.

Six Jareds versus six humongous palms.

There was a wave of martial energy on every palm.

    Boom!

    The palms came crashing down.

Jared raised the Dragonslayer Sword and yelled, “Come forth—spiritual fire!”

Huge flames engulfed the six Dragonslayer Swords immediately. The flames shot up into the sky and reached as high as ten meters.

Instantaneously, the burning flames pierced through the gigantic palms.

    “Ah!”

One agonizing cry sounded, and the palms disappeared quickly.

Next, a human form appeared, but it was engulfed in flames.

It was Skylar’s body, and there were still burning flames on his clothes.

    “Fire! Fire!”

Skylar tried his best to put out the flames. In the end, he had to roll on the ground in order to do that.

Just as Skylar heaved a sigh of relief, he saw a golden hand coming toward him.

His expression changed instantly. He wanted to get away. However, it felt as if his body had been restrained, and there was no way he could get away!

Jared grabbed Skylar’s collar and brought him to his face.

Due to the flames, Skylar’s face had been blackened, and he looked wretched. There was disbelief in his eyes.

    “That’s it?”

Jared smiled before giving him a tight slap.

    Slap!

With a deafening boom, a palm print appeared on Skylar’s face.

His teeth fell out, and blood began gushing out too.

    “That’s it?”

With another mockery, Jared slapped him again.

    Slap! Slap! Slap!

Jared slapped Skylar on both sides of his face until his face swelled up like a pig’s head.

It was Jared’s intention to humiliate Skylar until his psychological defense collapsed completely.

The next time he saw Jared again, he would run for his life.

Since Skylar was part of the Norton family from Jadeborough, Jared did not plan to kill him.

If Jared wanted to rescue his mother and Josephine, then it would not be wise to have another enemy in Jadeborough.

The Deragons and the Warriors Alliance were enough to keep Jared’s hands full.

When Jared beat up those samurai from Jetroina and cut off Warren’s head, it served as a warning to the influential families in Jadeborough so that they knew he was not someone to toy around with.

After countless slaps, Skylar’s face was swollen beyond recognition.

His eyes became so narrow that he resembled a dog who had been stung by a bee.

The moment Jared let go of him, Skylar fell to the ground like a dead dog.

“You’re not a worthy opponent of mine. Get lost! If you dare to provoke me the next time, I will kill you,” threatened Jared as he stared at Skylar.

With that, Jared left for the Pentacarna Tower.

  • A Man Like None Other Chapter 1136

Chapter 1136 You Are Not Fit

Jared had no idea what the Sage Leaderboard was all about. That was the second time he heard Skylar mention the Sage Leaderboard, but Jared did not ask any questions about it.

“Is this your best shot? If that’s the case, I will be very disappointed,” teased Jared as he pulled out his legs.

“Aren’t you doing the same thing too? You’re holding back!” stated Skylar as he stared coldly at Jared.

Jared smiled nonchalantly. “If I had used my full force, you would have been dead by now.”

    “How insolent of you!”

Skylar frowned. Once again, an aura exuded from him.

At the same time, Jared’s body began to sparkle too. He had unleashed the full potential of Golem Body.

Even an Eighth Level Martial Arts Grandmaster would not be able to defeat Jared, given his current physical condition. The Golem Body, combined with the Power of Dragons, was way more powerful than anybody could imagine.

Jared was like a god that had come from above. When the commoners saw him, they would kneel and worship him!

Looking at the shining, golden Jared, Skylar grew solemn. The next moment, flashes of bright spells began to surround Skylar.

At that moment, Skylar resembled a gigantic pillar with incantations swirling around it. Very quickly, it increased in size before disappearing.

Gradually, Skylar’s body changed into several lines of spells, and eventually, they took the form of a human being.

    “What is this?”

Jared could not help but frown when he saw that.

It was the first time he had witnessed something like that. Jared had seen different forms of martial arts, such as the Jetroinian Martial Arts and invisibility.

However, he had never seen anything like what Skylar had just done.

Jared was at a loss when faced with such magecraft.

Suddenly, the spells began flying toward Jared, formed a vast net, and were about to engulf Jared within.

One slam of his palm and a strong wind blew those spells away.

Unfortunately, the lines of spells formed again after being dispersed.

When Jared saw that, he launched a couple of punches!

    Boom! Boom! Boom!

The gusts of strong wind prevented the spells from forming again.

However, very soon, the dispersed spells formed an enormous huge hand, and it came slamming down on Jared.

One after another, the palm kept hitting on Jared’s body.

Loud clanging sounds came from Jared’s body.

The golden scales from his body started dropping off and disappeared. The sparkle from his body diminished as well.

Soon, the Golem Body on Jared had been smashed to bits. His bronze skin was exposed and shone under the rays of the sun.

The spells froze instantly. With that, Skylar’s body reappeared again. He looked very smug when he saw that the Golem Body had disappeared from Jared.

“After I had attained the Top Level Martial Arts Grandmaster, it didn’t only increase my ability. I’m able to utilize several of the magecraft in the Norton family. You must understand that we have spent tons of money to get many mages to customize the magecraft for me. You’re not fit to fight with me. Remember this. You aren’t fighting against me. You are fighting against the entire Norton family.”

With a sneer, Skylar changed into another form and charged toward Jared.

    Boom! Boom! Boom!

Punches rained down on Jared’s body. In an instant, his body fell backward, and his chest had caved in too.

Without the Golem Body, it would be very arduous for Jared to defend himself using only his physical body.

Every punch that Jared threw felt like it was hitting the air. The punches did not cause any damage to Skylar and certainly could not stop Skylar’s attack.

  • A Man Like None Other Chapter 1135

Chapter 1135 Do Not Hold Back

“Do you want to keep this up?” Jared turned toward Skylar with a mocking smile.

Skylar, however, did not reply with a single word. Instead, his eyes widened in a second, and after letting out a battle cry, his fist was already a few inches away from landing on Jared’s face.

“Sacred Light Fist!” Jared raised his hand and threw a punch forward.

As the two fists met, a terrifying shockwave was formed, with the two as the center of the starting point before radiating toward the surrounding.

As for the newly constructed buildings, they toppled upon the intense shockwaves, sending the people around the buildings running for their lives.

Skylar flinched for a moment before recovering his balance while Jared stomped his right leg onto the ground to nullify the recoil, causing the ground to shatter.

“Don’t even think of holding back now. If you don’t come at me with all you got, you are not fit to fight with me,” Jared said coldly as he stared dead into Skylar’s eyes.

Skylar, too, was staring at Jared. His expression was tense as he failed to comprehend what was with Jared’s Sacred Light Fist just now.

He felt that his aura was completely disrupted upon taking that simple punch straight on. In just a simple exchange, Skylar immediately felt pressure resting on his shoulders.

At this instant, Skylar was doing his best to recover his composure.

It did not take long until Skylar’s aura erupted once more. This time, he did not pull his punches, and his aura as a Top Level Martial Arts Grandmaster burst forth.

This aura was far more intimidating than his previous one, for the bystanders standing a few hundred meters away found themselves badly injured by this horrifying aura. Some of them were left vomiting blood, and some of them lost their lives.

With a frown, Jared quickly made a few hand seals and cast a shield that instantly kept the horrendous aura at bay.

Never had he thought that as a descendant from a prestigious family, Skylar would be handling lives so recklessly.

Back in Jadeborough, there was a strict rule that prohibited martial artists from killing civilians, and everyone abided by this rule obediently.

Though there was also a similar rule in the poor and barren Xenhall, Skylar still acted uncontrollably. After all, this place was too vast to have strict supervision maintained.

“How dare you! You’re a descendant of a prestigious family, and you treated the lives of others like a toy! You must be eradicated!” Jared looked at Skylar like the latter was a dead man walking while his murderous intent peaked.

“Hmph! What’s wrong with killing a few ordinary folks if it means I could kill you? They are all nothing but insects! I could easily shut their families up with some money. The Norton family is rich, remember?” Skylar sneered.

“Then does that mean I could just compensate the Norton family with money if I killed you? I’m rich, just like your family!”

With that said, Jared launched himself toward Skylar instantly.

He threw a fierce and quick jab toward Skylar, only to notice that his target vanished into thin air as soon his fist almost landed on Skylar.

Following Skylar’s disappearance, Jared felt a murderous aura coming from above his head.

He looked up into the sky, only to find Skylar floating in midair before charging down toward him as if Skylar had turned himself into a lethal blade.

With the force of momentum, Skylar raised his speed to the max and even broke through the sound barrier. His speed was so fast that he even formed a vacuum around him!

The immense shockwave created by Skylar made the ground beneath Jared shatter, and the pressure pressing onto Jared felt like a mountain was being pressed on him.

With a frown, Jared channeled energy into his right fist, causing it to glow in golden light before he punched upward fiercely.

    “Sacred Light Fist!”

In a blink of an eye, a pillar made of golden light took form, and it headed straight toward Skylar.

    Bam!

With a loud explosion, the sky and earth trembled before the power, and the glaring light overshadowed even the sunlight itself.

As Jared faced the shockwaves created, shimmering scales emerged from his body to help him fend off the shockwaves.

At this point, Jared had to admit that ever since Skylar ascended to a Top Level Martial Arts Grandmaster, Skylar’s strength had experienced a tremendous boost.

Though Jared’s punch wrecked the vacuum around Skylar, the man steadily landed right in front of Jared after the golden light faded.

As this happened, Jared’s legs were plunged right into the ground by the immense pressure just now.

“I must admit that your strength is out of my expectations. Even among the younger generation in Jadeborough, there aren’t many that could withstand a blow like this. I reckon that you’re able to hold a place in the Sage Leaderboard now, just like me!” Skylar looked into Jared’s eyes calmly and spoke.

“Of course, I’m going to kill you and rip your dragon essence out from your body. I’ll be unstoppable with the draconic essence and Pentacarna Tower in my possession!”

A crazed look flickered in Skylar’s eyes. His aura slowly spread across the area as he unleashed his rampaging killing intent.

Meanwhile, Jared, who witnessed the almost entirely berserk Skylar, said calmly, “Let’s talk about this outside, shall we?”

    “Why? Are you afraid?”

Skylar returned Jared a mocking glance.

“Yes. I’m afraid that Pentacarna Tower would be wrecked. I can take your life anywhere and any time if I wanted to.” Jared smirked in reply.

“You’d better not be so arrogant. I’ll show you just how powerful I am.”

With that said, Skylar turned around and descended the tower.

He, too, was afraid that their fight would leave the Pentacarna Tower in the wreckage. After all, this tower was very precious, and it mustn’t suffer any damage.

On the other hand, Jared followed behind Skylar, whose expression twisted gloomily upon setting his eyes on his subordinates that suffered a tragic death.

Upon catching a glimpse of Skylar’s horrible expression, Jared smiled and said, “You Norton family’s men are so weak. I merely gave them a few slaps, and they’re gone just like that.”

“Jared, you’d better not be so full of yourself. As I said, I am as powerful as a Top Level Martial Arts Grandmaster. Do you even know what this means? There’s not even a single person among the younger generation in Jadeborough that has achieved this level! With my current strength, I can even hold a place on the Sage Leaderboard! I’ll make sure that you will suffer before you die if you insist on fighting me,” Skylar stated fiercely as he ground his teeth.

“Oh? Top Level Martial Arts Grandmaster?” Jared pretended to be surprised. “I didn’t expect that you would manage to reach this level so fast. That’s scary.”

Skylar got cocky upon seeing Jared’s surprised look, and he said, “Jared, do you know my power now? If you hand out the draconic essence and your precious magical items, perhaps, I may even spare you. Otherwise, I’ll make sure that death will become a luxury to you.”

Jared, however, smiled as he stared at Skylar’s smug expression. “You may be very dangerous and powerful with that Top Level Martial Arts Grandmaster strength, but in my eyes, I still think that you still lack something to kill me. I’m afraid what you wish for won’t happen so easily.”

“You overconfident fool! When you say that a Top Level Martial Arts Grandmaster can’t kill you, do you mean that you think you’re even stronger than a Top Level Martial Arts Grandmaster?” Skylar mocked.

Never would he ever thought that Jared’s strength could surpass a Top Level Martial Arts Grandmaster’s. It had only been a while since they last saw each other on Dragon Island. Hence, no matter how talented Jared was, it was impossible that he could improve so much that he could overwhelm a Top Level Martial Arts Grandmaster in that short time frame.

“Maybe just a bit stronger?” Jared made a gesture to support his statement.

“Hmph! Don’t even think about fooling me. I merely reached this level through the help of Pentacarna Tower, so there’s no way you could have…” Skylar suddenly shut his mouth before he finished his words, for he almost revealed the secrets of the tower. At this point, he still thought that Jared was unaware of its secrets.

“If you don’t believe me, I could always give you a test run.” Jared’s aura slowly peaked as he finished his sentence. In a blink of an eye, intimidating spiritual energy started forming around him.

Along with the hike of Jared’s aura was the trembling of the earth.

    Boom! Boom! Boom!

It was as if an earthquake was taking place. The buildings under construction not far away from them started toppling one by one, scaring off the many construction workers at the work sites.

“T-This…” Skylar’s expression twisted, his eyes widened, and he looked at the scene in disbelief, for the aura Jared unleashed was on par with a Top Level Martial Arts Grandmaster’s aura, if not stronger.

Skylar’s eyes twitched uncontrollably, and the murderous intent in him intensified.

Jared was just too talented. Knowing that Jared managed to improve so much in that short time frame, Skylar was crystal clear that if he let Jared live, he would turn into a massive threat to the Norton family!

    Chapter 1133 It Is You

“Now that you know we’re from the Norton family, you’d better stand down before you get caught and have to suffer!” yelled one of the Martial Arts Grandmasters.

Jared snorted. “So what if I killed one of you? I gave you an easy way out, yet you chose to bring ruin upon yourselves…”

With that, he lunged forward and aimed a slap at the Martial Arts Grandmaster who had just spoken.

Before that person could even react, he felt an overwhelming force hurtled toward him, and his whole body flew backward into the air.

His chest caved in, his eyes were wide open, and he was no longer breathing.

The other Martial Arts Grandmasters were shocked.

    “You… You’d better not do anything rash…”

They were all a little terrified.

Jared sneered. “Oh, so you can act rashly, but I can’t?”

Having said that, he disappeared in a flash.

Then, several agonized screams pierced the air.

The Martial Arts Grandmasters could not even withstand a single blow from Jared!

A smile tugged at Jared’s lips as he gazed at the men who had died gruesome deaths, realizing he was gradually improving regardless of whether it was in terms of his capabilities or fighting experience.

As long as I work hard on my cultivation, there’s hope for saving Mother and Josephine before the year ends!

Then, Jared walked into Pentacarna Tower, stepping on the corpses of the Martial Arts Grandmasters.

As soon as he entered, he felt as though he had immersed his entire body in a hot spring. It felt incredibly comfortable.

At that very same moment, Skylar was sitting cross-legged on the third floor of the Pentacarna Tower, his power rapidly rising as he absorbed the tower’s aura.

While he was deeply engrossed in his cultivation, he suddenly sensed a wave of threatening aura rush toward him.

His eyes flew open, and he fixed his gaze on the staircase in front of him.

    Thud… Thud… Thud…

Skylar’s brows drew together as he heard the sound of footsteps coming from the staircase.

He had instructed his subordinates that they were not to let anyone inside, so now that someone had entered Pentacarna Tower, he could not help feeling puzzled.

“Who is it?” Skylar shouted in the direction of the stairs.

However, no one answered. The sound of footsteps continued to ring in the air, crisp and clear.

Skylar stood up abruptly, his frown deepening.

If someone tried to force their way into the tower, my men would surely have stopped them. Who’d be able to get past a group of Martial Arts Grandmasters’ swift defense? And even if that person did manage to do so, there would’ve been the sound of fighting. However, I didn’t hear anything.

    He started feeling somewhat panicked.

Around here, the only ones capable of eliminating my men without making a sound and entering the Pentacarna Tower are members of the Rowling family.

“Could it be that Coby came back?”

Skylar suspected that Coby had not really left but was only waiting for an opportunity to kill him.

As long as he kills me, I won’t have the chance to inform the Norton family, and they’ll never even suspect the Rowling family!

As that thought crossed Skylar’s mind, he glanced around the tower, looking for a way to escape.

However, the only exit from Pentacarna Tower was through the front door. There was no other way to get out of there.

He clenched his jaw, and his eyes gleamed coldly as he stared fixedly at the staircase.

Soon, a figure appeared. Skylar was dumbfounded when he got a clear look at who it was.

“It’s you?” he asked, his eyes widening.

“Of course, it’s me. Who did you think it was?”

A hint of a smile played on Jared’s lips.

Suddenly, Skylar burst out laughing. “Hahaha! I was just thinking of going to look for you. I didn’t expect you to show up on your own accord.”

He already possessed the strength of a Top Level Martial Arts Grandmaster, so he did not fear Jared.

However, what Skylar did not know was that Jared’s abilities were no longer what they were before, nor did he know that Jared had killed Warren.

Seeing Skylar suddenly laugh and looking nonchalant, Jared asked calmly, “It looks like you’re very sure of yourself, eh?”
