Chapter 743 All Good Things Must Come to an End
“Congratulations, Daddy and Mommy.”
Gregory’s words melted Tessa at once. “Thank you, Sweetheart. Thank you.”
Her last sentence was meant for Edward and Timothy.
Although Nicholas didn’t say much, he drank the wine in one shot with a smile tugging on his lips the entire time.
After lunch, Timothy and Edward brought Gregory out to play, deliberately leaving the space for the newly-wed couple.
As she sat beside Nicholas, Tessa recalled what she had been through just now and couldn’t help but indulge herself in her emotions. “I still can’t believe we’re married just like that. It feels so surreal—just like a dream.”
Nicholas looked at the girl beside her, who was in disbelief, and he couldn’t hold back his laughter. He then took out a beautiful velvet box from his coat.
When Tessa saw the box, her heart started to pound uncontrollably.
Without wasting any time, he opened the velvet box to reveal an exquisitely wrought diamond ring lying quietly inside it. The diamond, which represented eternal love, sparkled under the light and formed a beautiful halo.
Stunned, Tessa looked at the ring and let Nicholas put the ring on her finger. Only then did she snap out of her daze.
At this moment, Nicholas said in a deep but delightful voice, “What about now? Does it still feel surreal?”
He looked at her joyously, his eyes full of affection. “The ring that I gave you before you went overseas was for our engagement. Now, you’re really mine. You can’t run away from me anymore.”
“What do I do? I don’t want to run away either.” She looked at him with her crescent moon-like eyes, which formed from her smile. There was a sweet aura surrounding them.
In order to celebrate their marriage, Nicholas had booked a candle-lit dinner that night. The asymmetry of the candlelights, together with the lovely roses around the restaurant, made the place unrealistically romantic.
Throughout the meal, he took care of Tessa attentively as well. They had a good time talking, and the atmosphere was very lovely.
After they were done with dinner, they went back home right after. Before they reached home, Tessa was so tired that she fell asleep in the car.
With a gentle expression, Nicholas looked at her cute, sleeping face and increased the temperature in the car. He also slowed down his driving speed to let her sleep more soundly.
When they arrived home, he carefully carried her into the room and gently put her down on the bed. He even got some warm water to clean her body.
Just as he was ready to head to his study to start working after cleaning up, the phone beside him rang unexpectedly. It was a call from Remus.
“Yes?” he asked with a cold tone while entering his study with the phone in his hand.
Remus’ furious voice came from the other side of the phone, saying, “I heard that you married Tessa in Vienna. Is that true?!”
Hearing that, Nicholas wasn’t shocked at all. He replied coldly, “Yes. I’m married.”
“Who allowed you to do so?! Come back right now and explain everything to me!” Remus nearly exploded with rage on the other side of the phone.
On the contrary, Nicholas was still calm as usual, for he didn’t feel like he had to explain anything. “It’s a done deal. I’m married.”
Remus nearly choked as soon as he heard that. After all, it was totally out of his expectation that things would turn out this way.
Since they were at crossroads, Nicholas hung up the phone without hesitation. He then sat at his desk with an unfathomable look, and no one could guess what was on his mind.
…
The next morning, they were having breakfast when Nicholas suddenly instructed the butler, “Sebastian, pack up a few pieces of Tessa’s clothes later and send them to her apartment.”
Hearing that, everyone at the table looked at him in surprise.
Before they could ask anything, Nicholas said, “Tim, I want you to take your sister to the apartment for a few days.”
“Why? What’s wrong?” With a frown, Timothy looked at Nicholas curiously.
Feeling upset, Gregory also pouted and asked, “Why are you asking Mommy to leave, Daddy?”
Nicholas explained without hiding anything, “My family found out about our marriage yesterday, and I don’t think that they’ll stay still. In fact, they’ll probably be here any minute.”
