Eventually, Janet had no choice and could only suppress the discomfort in her heart. She bit her lips as she muttered, “I was careless about the mission this time. I thought I had cornered Blood Eagle to a dead end, and he had no way to resist my attack. I didn’t expect that he would have so many tactics up his sleeves.”
Nicholas frowned as he reprimanded her, “Didn’t I teach you guys before not to underestimate the ability of any enemy even if they seemed cornered?”
Meanwhile, Janet had an entranced look as she looked at the ruthless man who overlapped with the image in her memory.
Fortunately, she promptly snapped back to her senses. Then, she lowered her eyes and said, “At that time, I just wanted to end this mission as soon as possible and didn’t think much.”

“That won’t be necessary. My former superior, who is also your current superior, Mr. Spurse, told me to take care of you, so I’m just doing as told.” Nicholas rejected her gratitude mercilessly.
Instantly, Janet’s bright eyes dimmed in disappointment.

As she regarded the man standing straight-backed on the balcony, she could no longer hide the love in her eyes. Instead, she stared at the man fondly.
Nicholas seemed aware of her intense gaze as he frowned and turned his head back.
Janet was startled by his abrupt actions. It was as if she did not expect Nicholas to turn around suddenly. However, she quickly suppressed the adoration in her eyes and showed an alluring smile to Nicholas.
Unmoved, Nicholas held the phone and turned around. Then, he said indifferently, “Mr. Spurse, Janet is out of danger now. She’s fine.”
“That is good news! Thank goodness that she’s fine.” Nicholas’ former superior, Cole Spurse, breathed a sigh of relief on the other end of the phone.
Nicholas narrowed his eyes while looking at the sky and said coldly, “Mr. Spurse, when are you going to send someone to pick her up?”
“I’m afraid I can’t do that at the moment.”
“Did something happen?”
“Janet blew her cover in this mission, so she can’t return for the time being. I have already sent someone to deal with this matter, but I still have to trouble you for a while and arrange for her recovery before things get better. I will send someone to pick her up when the time is right.”
Nicholas furrowed his brows tightly when he heard that she would be imposing on him longer. He never liked trouble, yet he eventually agreed after thinking about how Cole took care of him in the past.
However, he had no intention to take care of Janet personally despite agreeing to Cole’s request.
After he hung up, he turned around and returned to the ward.
When she saw this, she played dumb and inquired, “What did Mr. Spurse say? When will he arrange for someone to come and pick me up?”,
“Your identity has been exposed, so he won’t be arranging for someone to pick you up for the time being.”
Nicholas relayed Cole’s words concisely. Then, he revealed his plan to her. “I’ll arrange for the servants at home to take care of you while you are in your resting period.”
Janet would be lying if she said she was not disappointed after hearing that.
