Always Been Yours (Tessa and Nicholas) Chapter 626
As soon as this popped up in Nicholas’ mind, he brought up the matter with a stern tone “I know this is the band’s first public appearance, and I also know you value this opportunity greatly. But I’m still going to remind you of the same thing. I support you in chasing your dreams, but you can’t make me worry for you.”
“Don’t worry. I know how far to go and when to stop. I promise I won’t wear myself out.” Tessa smiled sweetly as she could hear the unspoken concern between his words.
However, Nicholas was very much worried about her sense of moderation.
“I will check with Kylie about your situation at all times. If I find out that you’re not taking care of yourself, watch how I will deal with you when I go over.”
“Am I worrying you that much?” Tessa was amused at his threatening tone. Even so, she felt a sense of warmth in her heart. She knew Nicholas paid so much attention to her health because he cared deeply for her.
He merely gave her the side eye as he said faintly, “Says someone guilty of wearing herself out.”
For a moment, Tessa couldn’t refute him. So, she smiled placatingly as she said, “I simply think I can develop more as an individual, but I can also prevent myself from overthinking when I keep myself busy.”
As Nicholas looked at her, trying to gloss over her past mistakes, his originally solemn face finally showed a faint smile.
Therefore, she seized the opportunity and hurriedly changed the topic. “Is Greg okay? I haven’t found the right time to call him these days. I miss him so much.”
“Greg misses you very much too. He talks about going to look for you every day.”
When she brought Gregory up, he showed a helpless expression. “He has been coming up with ideas to torment me every day to visit you.”
When Tessa heard this, she knew that this father and son duo was having a battle of wits and courage back home.
As she recalled the scenes where these two fought in the past, she held back her laughter and persuaded him, “Greg is still young. You don’t have to be too serious with him. As long as we explain things to him clearly, he’ll understand.”
“I know.” Nicholas nodded in agreement. “I told him that he’ll only distract you if he comes to find you now, and you won’t be able to fulfill your dream well because of that. He started behaving himself once he heard that.”
Tessa felt that she was the luckiest woman alive to have Nicholas and Gregory in her life upon hearing his words.
The two continued their talk for a while before he started urging her to rest.
After all, it was already late at night in Vienna at this hour.
Well then. I’ll be turning in. Good night.” Tessa was indeed a little tired, so she ended the video call and went to bed without protest.
As Nicholas kept his phone away, he was prepared to continue his work.
However, the phone that he had just placed on the table rang after a little while. It was a call from Janet’s assistant.
“President Sawyer, Miss Brenner is awake.”
Janet was finally awake after being in a coma for a week.
Nicholas nodded upon hearing the news. “I got it. I’ll be heading over now.”
After he finished speaking, he hung up the phone and asked Edward to get the car ready as they would make a trip to the hospital.
When he arrived at the hospital, he learned that Janet had been transferred from the intensive care unit to a VIP ward.
In the ward, a bright smile immediately appeared on Janet’s face when she saw Nicholas rushing over.
“You’re here.”
Nicholas nodded lightly as he regarded the frail woman on the hospital bed. “How do you feel?”
as a
“I feel fine. It’s just that my wound is in pain, and my whole body aches.” There was a whiny tone in Janet’s last two sentences.
When that tone was paired up with her sickly pale demeanor, people couldn’t help but sympathize with her.
However, it was a pity that Nicholas was indifferent toward her. After all, he only ever showed his gentleness to Tessa.
“I learned what happened this time from Kaiden Considering your capability, you shouldn’t have made such a low-level mistake.”
As Janet looked at the man who was talking about this mission with a serious demeanor, the smile on her face stiffened.
That was because she didn’t expect such a scene to play out before her.
Doesn’t he care when he sees me in such an uncomfortable state? Even an average person should at least express a few words of concern. But this man is behaving so businesslike and talking about the reason for my mistake in the mission. Did he really not hear me? Or was he pretending not to?
When her train of thought went there, she clutched the bedsheet under her tightly and looked at
Nicholas inquiringly.
It was a pity that the man’s handsome and charming face was as expressionless as always, so she couldn’t read him at all.
