Tessa paused for a moment. “You know?” “Of course, we know. Greg told us to help you in case you needed it,” said Stefania. Reminded of something, she smiled. ‘He knows you love him.”
Tessa nodded. She thought that was true. The Sawyer couple decided to ask her about Gregory’s real mother. “Tell us about Greg’s mother, Tessa.”
Tessa mused over it and decided to tell them the truth. They would find out eventually, after all. “It’s a misunderstanding. There is no mother of his.” She chose her words carefully and explained everything. The Sawyer couple was shocked, and they stared at Tessa in disbelief. “So, you’re his mother.”
“Yes.” Tessa nodded, smiling dryly. “I got into a car accident on my way to the hospital, and the doctor said I lost the baby, so I thought he was gone.”
The Sawyer couple had no idea what to say, and silence fell between them. A while later, Stefania chuckled. “No wonder Greg insisted on choosing you. So, this is why.”
Tobias nodded in agreement. Tessa thought so too. It felt like fate wanted this to happen. Stefania asked, “So, how will you tell Greg about this?”
“I’m first going to clear up the misunderstanding and tell him I’m his real mother,” Tessa said. The Sawyer couple didn’t agree. “I think you should just tell him the truth. Being so roundabout will only deepen the misunderstanding.”
“Greg’s not like the other children. You don’t have to complicate things,” said Tobias. Tessa thought they had a point. After all, Gregory did convince them to come over to help. She made a decision. “I know. I’ll talk to him at night.”
The Sawyer couple sat around and played with Gordon for a while, then they left. That evening, Tessa went to pick Gregory up as usual. Before she left, however, Gordon hugged her. “Where are you going, Mommy? I wanna go too.” He blinked and looked at Tessa cutely.
Tessa bent over and carried him up. Without hesitation, she answered, “I’m picking Greg up. You can come with me if you want.” As she spoke, she walked out of the living room.
There were already a lot of cars waiting outside when they arrived at the school. When the last bell rang, students started coming out of their classrooms, then they made their way to the school entrance. Tessa was standing at the roadside, holding Gordon’s hand. She searched for Gregory among the crowd, and a moment later, he hurried over to them. “Mommy, Gordon, he called them happily and came up to them.
Gordon broke free of Tessa’s grasp and held. Gregory’s hand. ‘I’ve been a good boy today. When we go back, I want to play with your robot.” “Sure thing. We’ll do that when we get back.” Gregory nodded and told Tessa to quickly get in the car.
The boys got in the car, and Tessa cocked her eyebrow. Hm, did Gregory tell Gordon to come with me today? They must be up to something. In fact, her guess was correct.
