As soon as she said that, her eyes landed on the little boy standing beside Nicholas, and her gaze immediately softened. “Mommy.” Gregory trotted over and hugged her lovingly. Tessa gently ruffled his black hair and said softly, “It’s getting late. Why don’t I help you get washed up for the night?”
“Yay!” He nodded profusely. Later, when Nicholas returned to the room, he found that his wife was still wide awake, Hel knew why she couldn’t go to sleep, and his eyes were filled with helpless heartache. “Didn’t I tell you to sleep earlier? Why are you still awake?”

Tessa watched his back until he disappeared before telling the driver to send her home. Unexpectedly, as soon as she entered the living room, she saw her parents-in-law sitting on the couch, playing with Gordon.
