“I only suffered some minor injuries. It’s nothing serious.” Timothy did not want to worry his sister, so he deliberately concealed the truth from her. Therefore, Tessa did not dwell on the matter and heaved a sigh of relief. “I’m glad you’re fine.”
At this moment, Stefania came forward with Gordon in her arms to express her concern for Tessa. “Comparatively, your situation is far more severe. As soon as the words left her mouth, everybody else nodded in agreement. Timothy was also distraught and suggested, “Why don’t you rest for a year or so, Tess?”
“I will take some time to recuperate.” Tessa knew that they had her best interests at heart, so she did not reject the suggestion. Afterward, she chatted with her family for some time until she succumbed to her exhaustion and fell into a deep sleep. Since she had just suffered from a bad concussion, it was only natural for her to need more rest than usual.
Stefania soon left the hospital ward with Gregory and Gordon. On the other hand, Timothy stayed behind. Needless to say, Nicholas knew the reason why Timothy had chosen to stay behind. He considerately tucked the blankets around Tessa and walked out of the hospital ward.
Timothy immediately understood and quickly followed Nicholas out of the hospital room. “It’s her?!” Like Tessa, Timothy was highly shocked after hearing the truth. His initial reaction was quickly followed by a wave of hatred and loathing. He looked at Nicholas with a sharp gaze and forced his words out through gritted teeth, “That woman has been targeting my sister for a long time. I can’t believe she has not repented her mistakes even after changing her appearance. In that case, we have to ensure that she will not get off lightly this time.”
Nicholas shared the same sentiment. Nobody could get away lightly after hurting his family! On the other side, Rorion and Hathaway arrived at the airport and immediately headed straight for the police station without any delay. Not long afterward, the sound of footsteps came from outside the door. A police officer escorted Kathleen into the interrogation room. As soon as Kathleen appeared, Hathaway stood up from her chair in absolute shock. “It’s really you, Kathleen!” she exclaimed in astonishment. Her emotions were indescribably complicated at the moment. “You’re alive…”
Kathleen had not expected Hathaway to be there. Hence, she was stunned for a moment before she responded sarcastically, “Why? Are you disappointed that I’m not dead?”
“I didn’t mean that. I’m just shocked.” Hathaway tried to explain. The words had just left her mouth when Kathleen’s sarcastic voice rang out once more, “You should be shocked.
After all, there has never been a mother like you who failed to even recognize her own daughter when she is standing right next to you.” Those words stabbed into Hathaway’s heart like sharp knives.
Before she could say anything else, Kathleen rubbed salt into her wounds again. “It’s normal that you couldn’t even recognize your daughter. After all, your students are more important to you than your own daughter.”
Hathaway broke down upon hearing those words. It was evident that Kathleen harbored great hatred for her. Yet, at the same time, she knew that she had been extremely negligent. There were so many similarities between Susan and Kathleen, but she had always assumed that Susan was constantly imitating Kathleen due to a sense of admiration.
“I have failed as a mother for not recognizing you, but I’ve never considered my students to be more important than you.” Hathaway tried to defend herself, but Kathleen had no interest in listening whatsoever.
“Enough. Those words might have worked when you deceived me in the past. But, now that so many things have happened, do you really think that I will continue to believe you?” After saying that, she ignored Hathaway and turned to look at Rorion instead.
“Daddy, please make these policemen release me. I don’t want to stay here for a moment longer.” She begged Rorion and added fearfully, “I’m certain Nicholas knows my real identity by now. He will never forgive me or spare me. So, we need to return to Vienna as soon as possible.”
