“I’m serious about this. I will not marry him!” With that being said, Wanda wheeled around and ran out. “Wanda Muller, get back here!” Horace roared at her immature behavior. The Hadfield couple’s expression dimmed too.
The only person unsurprised was Oliver. He had long figured that she would not give in that easily. However, he had set his heart to marry her. “I’ll check on her.” He chased after her.
Belinda’s flawless face darkened. “Mr. Muller, if Wanda is against this marriage, we won’t force her. You can take a horse to the water, but you can’t make it drink.”
At that moment, Horace’s rage went through the roof, not only because of Wanda but because of the Hadfields’ attitude. Although Belinda said that, they intended to wrap Wanda around their fingers.
At the same time, Oliver sprinted to the gates to catch up with Wanda and grabbed her hand. Noticing that it was him, she struggled to free herself from him. “Let me go!”
He paid no heed to her words as he pulled her to a side and sneered. “Think about your reputation, Wanda. You failed to win Nicholas’ heart, so who’s gonna marry you other than me?”
“Even if no one wants me, I will never marry a b*stard like you!” She slapped him in the face. One could see how livid she was from her quivering hands.
Oliver’s head turned sideways. When he finally came to his senses, he stared at Wanda with grim eyes and a creepy smile. “Why? Do you hate me? You’re the one who came to me first. You tricked me and used my name to set Nicholas’ wife up! How did you not see this coming, huh? You took advantage of others, and now’s the time for you to pay the price.”
Wanda could not retort to his statements as anger rushed in her blood. At that very second, she rued her past decision for getting involved with this madman.
He took pleasure in her nuance, but it hurt nevertheless because he genuinely liked her.
“Now, I am the only person willing to marry you. If you take my hand, I will let bygones be bygones and treat you well after marriage. Of course, it’s under the condition that you truly wish to spend the rest of your life with me.” He tried to soften up to persuade her, but it was like water off a duck’s back.
“In your dreams! I will never marry you even if it means death, Oliver Hadfield!” She broke free from his grasp and turned around to see Nicholas standing nearby.
In his usual black suit, the man stood by the street as the inherently sophisticated aura made him stand out. He was about to go home after sending his client off. Seeing the duo disputing by the door was out of his expectation.
They met each other’s eyes, and Wanda felt completely embarrassed to meet the handsome man. She parted her lips to say something, but nothing escaped them.
Instead, Nicholas’ gaze swept across them before getting into his car as if nothing happened. Watching the disappearing car, her complexion grew pale.
Oliver’s chuckle rang into her ears. “See? That is the man you love to death. You’re nothing to him.
That remark hit home. Although Wanda had made up her mind to suppress her feelings for Nicholas, it was not as easy as said because she had kept the feelings for a very long time. It hurt to see him leave so nonchalantly.
“Shut up!” She barked before making herself scarce in rage, and Oliver did not chase after her this time.
That night, both families did not reach an agreement regarding the marriage due to Wanda’s departure. The angry Horace gave her the cold shoulder because of that, but she vowed to never marry someone who had hurt her.
