#74 “He just doesn’t Want you, Megan.”
Sophia closes the car door of the car. Sophia was in no mood for Megan now, much less for games. She sighed and turned to her.
“What do you want to talk about?” she replied bitingly. “You know, it was quite an unexpected turn of events earlier, wasn’t it?”
Sophia, her curiosity piqued, furrowed her brow. “What do you mean?”
Megan adopted a thoughtful expression, as if genuinely worried. ” Well, the way Caroline so publicly revealed your past with Alexander. It must have been embarrassing for you.”
“It was quite unexpected,” Sophia replies dryly. “Is that what you wanted to talk about?”
Megan seized the opportunity to probe further. “It’s just that I hope, after tonight’s events, there won’t be any more misunderstandings between you and Alexander.”
Sophia looked at Megan, her eyes narrowing slightly as she detected a hint of something beneath her words. I’m not sure what you mean, Megan. Alexander and I are on good terms, as you can see.”
Megan, pretending to be relieved, added, “That’s good to hear. I just wanted to make sure that everything is settled, and that there’s no lingering tension between you two. After all, the past is the past, and we should move forward, right?”
Sophia’s suspicions were growing, but she maintained her composure. “Yes, of course. We’ve both moved on with our lives.”
Megan decided to press a little harder. ”
So, there’s no intention of rekindling your relationship with Alexander, is there?”
Sophia’s patience was running thin. She stared at Megan, her voice firm. ” Megan, that’s a personal matter, and it’s not something I plan to discuss with you.”
Megan, realizing that her subtle probing wasn’t getting her anywhere, forced a sympathetic smile. “I understand, Sophia. I just thought I’d express my concern, considering that we’re all part of this extended family.”
“I don’t know about you, but I’m not part of this family anymore.” “Oh, so you don’t plan on marrying Alexander again.” Megan grinned but quickly covered her smile. Sophia, who had grown weary of Megan’s passive-aggressive remarks, decided it was time to be blunt. ”
Megan, I have no intentions of remarrying Alexander. You can rest easy. What Alexander and I choose to do is none of your concern.”
Megan raised an eyebrow, her faux sympathy still in place. “Oh, Sophia, I was just concerned. After all, he married you in the first place. You must hold a special place in his heart for him to have made such a decision.”
Sophia was fed up with Megan’s probing and decided to turn the tables. She flashed a wry smile. “Megan, if you’re so interested in Alexander, you should consider the possibility of dating him yourself!”
Megan’s act of theatrical astonishment was met with an almost imperceptible eye roll from Sophia. She had grown weary of Megan’s antics and decided it was high time she put her in her place.
“This is not true. Alexander doesn’t want to be with me, we wouldn’t have broken up before you got married if he didn’t have feelings for you,” Megan says.
Sophia smirks. She knew very well that Alexander had no feelings for her then, not least because he didn’t know who she was.
Sophia, with a hint of mockery in her tone, retorted, “Have you considered. the possibility that he just doesn’t want you, Megan? Because I can’t help but notice your pitiful attempts to hang around him, and he doesn’t appear the least bit interested in you.”
Megan, taken aback, could only muster a disbelieving “What?”
Sophia saw the crack in Megan’s facade of concern, and she seized the opportunity to toy with her further.
“You heard me, Megan. All your comments about me, the constant attacks. Let’s get one thing straight; I’m not your adversary. The simple truth is, Alexander doesn’t want you, and it’s time for you to come to terms with that.” Sophia delivered her final blow with a steely resolve.
Megan, unable to maintain her pretense any longer, stood in her usual arrogant pose and countered, “Ah, perhaps that’s what you’d like to think.
Sophia, having had enough of being treated as a rival by Megan, decided to let her have it. “I don’t need to think anything. I don’t chase after Alexander, and I don’t revolve my life around him. Yet, you’ve made me your enemy. You did that all on your own.”
Megan, with a hint of cheekiness, challenged, “Is that so?”
Sophia didn’t hold back. “Yes, it’s so. Your laughable attempt to harm me at the auction, did you think I’m oblivious? Spilling the coffee, locking me in the bathroom? Enough, Megan. You’re nothing more than a tired cliché.
Sophia, having delivered her scathing words, crossed her arms, her expression clearly showing her exasperation with Megan. The tension between them had reached a breaking point, and it was clear that their exchange had left Megan fuming.
Megan, despite her usual air of arrogance, couldn’t find a suitable response. She was well aware that her manipulative efforts to undermine Sophia’s relationship with Alexander had failed spectacularly. In this verbal battle, Sophia had emerged as the victor.
The silence that followed was palpable, and Megan couldn’t bear the embarrassment any longer. She averted her eyes, unable to meet Sophia’s gaze.
Sophia, satisfied with her triumph, decided it was time to put an end to this conversation. “Megan, I’ve had enough of this. I’m going back to the party.
Sophia motioned for the driver to leave without her. Sophia decided that there was no better punishment for Megan than seeing her having fun at the party. With that, she turned away from Megan and started walking toward the grand entrance of the estate.
Megan watched Sophia’s retreating figure, her mind racing with frustration. She had underestimated Sophia’s resilience and determination, and now it was clear that her plan to manipulate Alexander’s feelings had backfired.
As Sophia disappeared into the distance, Megan clenched her fists in anger, her face contorted with rage and humiliation. She knew she couldn’t let Sophia have the upper hand for long. The battle was far from over, and Megan was determined to find a way to regain the control she had lost.
Little did Sophia know that Megan’s desire to secure her place in the Stone family and gain control over Horizon Media Holdings would only intensify. The rivalry between the two women had reached a new level.
