Chapter 947 People You Offended
Kristoff covered his face and said with an upset tone, “So I lost my arm for nothing?”
“Don’t worry. Since we can’t kill Jared openly, we’ll do it in secret.”
Steinar’s eyes flashed with murderous intent.
Meanwhile, Zion and Ryker had just exited the Department of Justice. They froze for a moment when they saw Jared. It was obvious that there was something they wanted to say to the man, but none of them said anything.
Right then, Blake shouted furiously at Jared, “You bast*rd! You stole my thunder. You’d better give me an explanation today.”
He was the one who found the ancient tomb originally. However, the latter had gotten ahead of him and announced to others first. Therefore, it was only normal that he would get so angry.
“Be more specific, Blake,” Zion said when he saw the angry man making his way over.
Even though Blake had roughly spoken about what had happened at the celebration party, it was evident that Mr. Sanders didn’t believe in his words. Otherwise, the latter would never have given all the credit to Jared.
“President Zeigler, I was the one who found the ancient tomb. I was inspecting the tomb when that bast*rd found me,” Blake started to repeat the timeline of the incident in detail. Then, he continued furiously, “But he went ahead of me and told everyone about the tomb first. Doesn’t that mean he stole the credit that was supposed to be given to me? I hope you can stand up for me, President Zeigler…”
Taking a look at Jared, Zion said, “Is he telling the truth, Jared? If he is, then I think we should have a discussion with Mr. Sanders regarding this issue.”
“Yes,” the former said and nodded his head without any hesitation. “However, he didn’t actually inspect the tomb. I was the one who did it. If he had really inspected it, why didn’t he report it to you immediately after I left? Could it be because the Henckle family wanted to keep the tomb for themselves?”
“What a load of crap! I… I…”
Blake had no idea how to explain himself. After all, a few days had already passed since this incident happened. He knew all too well why he didn’t report to the Warriors Alliance right away.
“There was no way you could confirm that it was an ancient tomb. After I left, you must have gone and checked it out yourself. However, you still couldn’t tell if it was an ancient tomb. That’s because I used an arcane array to hide it. There was no way you could locate it.”
Jared instantly exposed him at the sight of how agitated he was.
“I… You…” Blake was left speechless. In the end, he seethed through gritted teeth, “Just you wait, you bast*rd! I’ll teach you a good lesson sooner or later!”
With that, he left in a huff of anger. As for Zion, he was looking at Jared with a knowing look and said, “You’ve revealed too much of yourself, and that is not a good thing. Even if there are people protecting you from behind, it will not guarantee your safety. You’d better watch out.”
He left after he was done speaking, and Ryker stayed silent throughout, not saying anything to Jared. All he did was look at the latter with a smile that did not reach his eyes.
Everything was peaceful once more when everyone finally left.
“Mr. Chance, even though Mr. Sanders has spoken up, it is still better if you be careful. I realize that you’ve offended quite a lot of people…” said Theodore, looking at Jared helplessly.
“The road to cultivation is long, and there will always be obstacles in the journey. If everything went smoothly, I’m afraid there’s no way we can grow,” the latter said with a slight smile.
Theodore couldn’t understand why Jared did that. He guessed he was only doing this so that he could get more resources. There was no way he could avoid any of these if he wanted to get stronger.
Jared was unable to take a long time to cultivate because his mother was still suffering. Even though he had never met her, he knew that she loved him. As her son, it was his responsibility to save his mother.
