Chapter 796 Redemption
Jared took the rejuvenating pill and planned to feed it to Lyanna. However, he was stopped by the elders just when he was about to leave.
“Who are you? How do you know the Astral Attraction technique? Do you also practice the da*ned Demonic Cultivation?” Timothy demanded.
Axton was eager to find out the truth as well, so he asked, “Jared, how did you come to know of Astral Attraction? You certainly do not seem like you’re practicing Demonic Cultivation.”
Jared smiled in resignation at the sight of the alarmed looks on their faces. “It was not Astral Attraction. I was only able to absorb martial energy because I have reached a certain level in my practice. Not only am I able to subdue martial energy, but also lethal intent, negative energy, and toxic energy. I could absorb and refine them to my advantage. That was the reason that I could leave unscathed even after charging into the lethal intent tornado.”
Axton and the others were humbled after listening to Jared. They did not think there would be such a powerful technique out there.
“Jared, you’re not lying to us, right? How could there be such a technique in the world? What is the name of your technique?” Axton asked, surprised.
“Focus Technique,” Jared answered truthfully.
“Focus Technique?” Axton and the elders’ brows wrinkled in response. They had never heard of such a technique.
After a moment of contemplation, Axton said, “Jared, I believe in what you said. If you were indeed practicing Demonic Cultivation, you would not have destroyed the vitality pill just now…”
At the mention of the vitality pill, the other elders lowered their heads in remorse.
It pained them to think that they had eaten the pills crafted using the beating hearts of babies. The sin would forever haunt them. Hence, they would be plagued by guilt for the rest of their lives while they practiced cultivation.
Jared glanced at the elders and said, “All of you could only atone for your sins by doing more good deeds. I hope that all of you would give in your all to redeem yourselves.”
Jared headed toward Medicine God Hall afterward to feed Lyanna the rejuvenating pill.
Axton nodded his head after listening to Jared. “Yes. Since we have committed such unforgivable sins, we have to work hard to atone for them. I hereby declare that I will leave the sect, and I swear to not come back until after I have saved at least tens of thousands of lives.”
The other elders also declared the very same intention to leave the sect to save ordinary men after hearing Axton’s vow.
Elders like them had always lived luxurious lives as they stayed within the sect to craft pills. They seldom got out of the sect to save lives. Even if outsiders came seeking help, they would only expedite other alchemists to help them craft the pills. Only under very particular circumstances would the elders personally reach out to help outsiders.
Now that they were plagued with the guilt of the unspeakable sins, they decided to take action to expiate their sins.
Axton and other elders caught up to Jared and asked, “Jared, could you divulge how you met the previous Lord of Medicine God Sect? How did he pass on the Holy Guide to Pill Crafting to you?”
Jared divulged the truth to Axton and the other elders in its entirety. They were saddened by the fact that their previous lord was fossilized, and inside the sect, nonetheless.
Axton hurriedly sent for Donald to verify Jared’s claims.
Beads of cold sweat dotted Donald’s forehead as Axton pressed him about the affairs that happened back in the depths of the sect. The fact that he divulged the truth about the uniqueness of Medicine God Sect to Jared could get him beheaded as he would be deemed a traitor of the sect.
Axton explained himself as he noticed Donald getting all nervous. Only then did Donald dare to recount the affairs that happened back in the depths of the sect. Sure enough, his statements were in line with Jared’s. Axton and the other elders were finally convinced that the old lord had anointed Jared as the new Lord of Medicine God Sect and tasked the latter to bring Medicine God Sect to greater heights.
