A Man Like None Other Chapter 662

Chapter 662 Respect

Right in the middle of the bones was a swaying ginseng with a red string in the middle. The moment Jared laid eyes on it, he immediately recognized that it was a decamillennium ginseng.

“W-Why are there so many bones here?” Zyaire asked in shock.

They ignored the decamillennium ginseng, for the bones had attracted their attention.

“If my guesses are right, this should be a battlefield or an execution spot in the past,” Jared pointed out.

“Yes, I remember there was a war here. People used to hear gunshots coming from this forest,” Zyaire said.

“T-Then are these the bones of the people who died at war?” Frazier asked Jared in a soft voice.

“Not necessarily.” Jared shook his head. “If we want to find out how they died, we’ll have to ask them.”

He crooked his finger, and a ball of flame shot out from his hand, bursting like fireworks in the air.

Along with the flames, screams echoed in the air, and soon, the sky turned dark as black mists covered the sun.

The black mists were like ferocious ghosts screaming and crying. One of the black mists landed on the ground and morphed into the shape of a human. It was the ghost that had escaped from the Sabine residence earlier.

“W-What is this?” Ewan screamed.

As the others had seen it before, they did not have as big of a reaction as him. Nevertheless, they were shaking in their boots at the sight of the ghosts in the air.

“I never thought you’d come after me all the way here. Are you planning to annihilate me?” the ghost screeched.

Jared asked calmly, “Who are you? Why do you want to hurt others even in death?”

The ghost’s eyes turned red as it bared its fangs.

When Jared realized that the ghost was not going to reply to him, a ball of flame manifested in his palm.

Almost immediately, it relented.

“We didn’t hurt anyone. It’s because these people have dug up our bones and disrupted our peace for money,” the ghost confessed, pointing at Ewan.

“Then why didn’t you enter the cycle of reincarnation but wander in the woods?” Jared asked.

The ghost fell silent. A moment later, it retracted its fangs and drawled, “We don’t have a place for eternal rest, nor were we buried properly. We can’t enter the cycle of reincarnation…”

“So, who are you? How did you die?” Jared continued asking.

The ghost slowly raised its head to look up at the sky. “We were soldiers. The ones buried here are my comrades. Our enemies had set us up and killed us here.”

Jared extinguished the flame in his palm. As it turned out, his guess was right. They had died an unnatural death, and that was why the negative energy was intense in the forest.

“We’re trapped in the forest because no one came for us to give us a proper burial. We can’t leave this place. Fortunately, there’s a ginseng here, so we use our bodies to fertilize it. I was hoping to form a human figure by absorbing the essence of the ginseng so that I can lead my comrades out of this forest. But these people had dug up our bones to get the ginseng.”

The ghost glared at Ewan resentfully.

Everyone could hear the ghost’s voice. When they realized that the bones belonged to soldiers, respect bloomed in their chests. As they thought about how the soldiers’ bones were scattered everywhere haphazardly, the Sabines turned to Ewan and frowned.

Even Ludovic was looking at his father in anger.
