Chapter 401 Stone Gambling
“What’s that? Let’s go have a look!”
Josephine got curious, and she pulled Jared over with her.
“That’s stone gambling. They’re like this every day. I really don’t understand men, yelling all day at a pile of rocks.”
Lizbeth said in a puzzled tone.
Jared wasn’t curious at first, but when Lizbeth mentioned stone gambling, he immediately became interested, and he might even win himself some jade stones to make jewelry for Josephine.
“To these men, this pile of stones is just like the luxury cosmetics to you women.”
Jared gently smiled and walked over.
“Da*n! Imperial jade! It’s an imperial jade!”
Before Jared and the others even got there, they heard a round of applause from the crowd.
“Hahaha! I’m rich! I’m rich!”
Immediately afterward, someone started to laugh wildly. It was apparent that this person was the one who bought the stone.
However, when Jared heard this voice, he furrowed his brows as the voice sounded very familiar.
On the other hand, Lizbeth’s expression turned dark. “Oliver. That bast*rd came here to gamble on stones.”
Then, Lizbeth rushed toward the crowd in anger.
Jared suddenly remembered that the voice he heard was the voice of Lizbeth’s younger brother, Oliver.
As Jared and the others approached the crowd, Oliver laughed wildly and jumped around with a stone in his arms.
“Mr. Grange, I’m very sorry. This is not your stone. You cannot take it!”
Then, a middle-aged man walked over to Oliver and took the stone from his hand.
However, Oliver didn’t give the stone away. Instead, he hugged it closer to his chest. “Why? I bought this stone. Are you taking it back because it is an imperial jade?”
The middle-aged man smiled and said, “Mr. Grange, you said you bought the stone. But have you paid for it?”
“I gave you the money already. I paid a deposit of one hundred thousand!” Oliver shouted.
“Hahaha! Don’t you know the rules of stone gambling? You have to pay for the stones upfront. You only paid the deposit, and you claim this stone to be yours? Stop daydreaming!” The middle-aged man said disdainfully.
“Come on, Joseph. How can you say that? In the past few times, I have only paid the deposit before opening the stones. At that time, all the stones I got were junk, and I never heard you mention anything about paying upfront. I had always paid you the balance afterward.”
Oliver was a little anxious. He asked angrily, “You’re telling me now that I should have paid upfront after I won an imperial jade? You’re obviously trying to trick me.”
“Trick you? This is the rule of stone gambling. Hand over the stone. Otherwise, don’t even think of leaving!”
As Joseph spoke, three burly men instantly surrounded Oliver.
Oliver was a coward so his face instantly turned pale in fright. However, he didn’t want to hand over the priceless imperial jade. He held the stone tightly and said, “Joseph, my sister is from the Department of Justice! If you dare to touch me, she will never let you off!”
“So what? Even the Department of Justice has to obey the rules.”
Joseph smirked.
Oliver hugged the stone tightly and refused to let it go. Joseph signaled with his hand for his men to grab the stone from him. When the three burly men got closer to Oliver, Lizbeth rushed in and quickly knocked them down.
“Lizbeth!” Oliver was delighted to see Lizbeth.
“Ms. Grange, as one of the Department of Justice, how could you attack the people? Are you trying to oppress the civilians?” Joseph’s expression turned grim.
“How could I stand and watch you injure my brother? Even if I injured you, it counts as self-defense!”
Lizbeth glared at Joseph and said.
