A Man Like None Other Chapter 3381

The sight of the weapons littering the ground had the middle-aged man’s eyes brimming with greed.

But in no time, his attention fell on the spirit beast egg with peculiar patterns on it.

Perceiving that Jared and Rosetta were only cultivators who had just broken through Tribulator, he felt much more relieved.

“If you two get out right now and hand over everything here, I can spare you. Otherwise, both of you will die with a blow from me,” he threatened.

“We’ll never give them up to you,” Rosetta declared with an icy expression.

Jared uncharacteristically had fear etched across his features. “We only discovered this place by chance, sir. We can hand everything over to you, but you must promise not to kill us.”

Seeing his tactfulness, the middle-aged man nodded and replied, “Of course. There’s no grudge between us. I came to the Celestial Battlefield for magical items, not to kill people. As long as you both behave, I won’t kill you.”

“All right, then. We’ll give you everything now.”

After Jared said that, he threw Rosetta a look. “Let’s go. The arcane array is gone, and we have no hope of stopping him.”

Surprise showed on Rosetta’s face, and she gaped at him in disbelief. She did not understand why he had suddenly changed.

Isn’t he being too much of a coward? Although the intruder is at Sixth Level Tribulator, he’s capable of fighting a cultivator of that caliber! Why is he backing down before even giving it a try?

Nonetheless, she did not give voice to it, merely following him out of the arcane array.

When Jared and Rosetta had walked out, the middle-aged man released his spiritual sense and discovered that the arcane array had indeed been dismantled. Only then did he step in with peace of mind.

The sight of the weapons blanketing the ground and the spirit beast egg had him guffawing excitedly. “Haha… This is a windfall! I’ve hit the jackpot!”

While most of the weapons were damaged, they were still divine weapons used by immortals. They were much stronger than the average weapon despite the damage.

Seeing the middle-aged man’s excited look, Jared made to leave while pulling Rosetta along.

“Wait!” the middle-aged man cried out.

“We’ve already given everything to you. What else do you want?” Jared asked.

“What else? To kill you two, of course. There are too many things here. If I want to take them all away, I will need some time. But you both know this place. If I let you go, won’t others come to learn of it as well?”

“Don’t worry. The two of us won’t tell anyone about it,” Jared vowed.

“Haha… I only trust dead people!” the middle- aged man countered with a bark of laughter.

Despite knowing that the middle-aged man wanted to go back on his word and kill them, Jared remained calm. The corners of his mouth turned up, and he drawled, “I just knew you wouldn’t let us both go. Since you want to kill me, it’s only natural for me to kill you now.”

“Hmph! You’re only a First Level Tribulator cultivator, yet you want to kill me?”

The middle-aged man snorted coldly. He did not believe that Jared could kill him.

“Didn’t you consider why I handed everything to you and allowed you to enter the arcane array when I knew full well that you wanted to kill us?”

Jared grinned, his smile rather insidious. As the middle-aged man looked at that smile, his heart abruptly jolted. At that precise moment, his expression started contorting, and he screamed in agony.

“Ahh! My head! My head!” he howled in pain, sensing worms crawling around in his brain, eating away at his spiritual sense.

“What’s happening to him, Mr. Chance?” Rosetta asked in puzzlement upon seeing that the middle-aged man was suddenly acting as if he had lost his mind.

“He has been infected by my parasitic silkworm. Soon, he’ll become an empty shell,” Jared explained.
