“Is Mr. Chance still cultivating?” Misho went to the backyard and asked after recuperating from his injuries.
“It’s been two days and nights. I wonder when it will end.”
Hamish appeared rather anxious since time was of the essence. The opportunity they might encounter might be more extensive the earlier they arrived on Demonia Mountain.
“Just wait patiently for a while longer. I reckon it should be soon,” Misho replied. No sooner had his words rang out than the earth trembled violently. On the heels of that, gray clouds condensed in the sky.
In a mere heartbeat, the whole of Salinsburgh City was blanketed with gray clouds. It was as though it was the end of the world.
That sudden phenomenon struck worry into the hearts of everyone in the city. Even Atlas sprinted out of his room and stared up at the sky solemnly.
“W-What’s happening here?” Hamish asked in a shaky voice. Wearing a grave expression, Misho shook his head. “I’m not sure either.”
“Don’t tell me a Demonic Cultivator is here,” Kiara said in fear, her gaze trained on the gray clouds.
“Yes, yes, it must be a Demonic Cultivator. I can already sense the aura of one,” Izolda seconded.
The two girls had never seen such a scene, and their faces had paled in terror.
“Shut up. There’s no Demonic Cultivator. No Demonic Cultivator would dare act so blatantly now,” Misho chided, shooting Izolda a glare.
The gray clouds gradually descended. Everyone felt as though a boulder was pressing on their chests, making it somewhat difficult for them to breathe. Such a feeling felt like the oppression brought by the arrival of an immortal.
Rumble!
All of a sudden, the rumble of thunder rang out from the gray clouds. It was as though countless archangels were galloping above them.
Crack!
A streak of lightning came down without warning, striking none other than Victor’s backyard, where Jared was cultivating. Following that, an infinite windstorm promptly broke out.
Misho and the others, who were initially keeping guard in the backyard, were all blown away. Every one of them were sent flying dozens of meters away.
At the same time, all the houses in the backyard turned into ashes the instant that flash of lightning struck. Even the adjacent mayor’s resident was affected. The force of it was so great that Atlas stumbled back several steps.
“What exactly is going on here?”
Frowning, Atlas leaped up and vaulted over the mayor’s residence to land in Victor’s yard. Right then, Misho, Victor, and the others had just struggled up from the ground in a pathetic state.
Subsequently, they all gaped at the sight before them in shock. Jared remained sitting cross-legged under the celestial tree, but it had long since withered.
Meanwhile, his clothes were in tatters.
“Could it be that the phenomenon earlier was lightning tribulation?” Hamish exclaimed in shock.
“Lightning tribulation?” Misho’s eyes went wide. “The gray clouds blanketing the sky are lightning tribulation clouds? How could there be such lightning tribulation clouds?”
“That’s impossible. Such a lightning tribulation likely won’t even occur for an ascension. He’s only breaking through to Tribulator now. Such a lightning tribulation would kill him. We’ve all broken through to Tribulator and experienced lightning tribulation. There has never been such a terrifying lightning tribulation,” Atlas immediately countered.
While Tribulator was the most challenging cultivation level for cultivators, and the number of people who could break through to it could be counted on one hand, it was not that terrifying.
If it were really that terrifying, not a single cultivator in the entire Ethereal Realm could likely attain a breakthrough.
Just as Atlas had finished speaking, another bolt of lightning struck. Everyone personally witnessed that lightning tribulation striking Jared hard.
All the clothes on him burned to a crisp, baring his skin that shone with a dazzling golden light. That golden light was not because he used Golem Body. Instead, it was the glow of his physical body.
At that sight, everyone was stunned, for the toughness of Jared’s body had gone beyond their imaginations.
