Buzz! The enormous egg suddenly emitted a beam of light, and the runes started to gleam. A wave of energy surged forth and struck Jared.
Boom! There was a massive wave. Jared felt a lightness in his body and was thrown backward, blood trickling from the corner of his lips.
Simultaneously, the middle-aged man’s form began to shimmer, on the brink of vanishing from existence altogether. Jared’s eyes were filled with disbelief. He didn’t expect the egg before him to have such power.
“What animal’s egg is this? How can it be so powerful?” he wondered out loud. “This isn’t just any animal egg but was conceived in this pool of blood over thousands of years. I’m not sure what’s inside either,” the middle-aged man said.
Jared grew speechless. He doesn’t even know what this is, but he gave this to me as a gift? How am I supposed to accept this?
“Then how do I take it?” Jared muttered in exasperation.
“All you have to do is remove the runes on the surface to obtain the egg. Consider it my gift to you. If I hadn’t brought you here, you wouldn’t have known about this egg. Besides, many individuals desire it. Don’t think it’s peaceful around here, most people are hiding in their own space. When you touched the egg and incited that disturbance earlier, you have likely alerted others to your presence. You should quickly break the runes on the egg.”
With his eyes fixed on the giant egg, Jared summoned his Dragonslayer Sword, planning to remove the runes by force.
The Dragonslayer Sword shone brightly and Jared swung it in the direction of the egg.
Boom! Although Jared had prepared himself for the shockwave, he was still sent flying backward upon getting struck by the wave. Blood spewed from his mouth, and he involuntarily released his grasp on the Dragonslayer Sword.
“The fact that the egg has remained here for so long suggests that using force won’t work. Abandon violence and consider alternative approaches,” the middle-aged man advised Jared.
Jared quietly observed the egg in front of him. and was unable to understand the runes on its surface. He could not help but think about Flaxseed.
Flaxseed was a master of charms and runes, whose knowledge far surpassed those of Jared. Alas, Flaxseed was in the mundane world. He did not follow Jared..
After a long while of studying the egg, Jared was still stumped. He could not figure out how to dispel the runes. “This isn’t quite right. If this was naturally made, why are there runes on it? This is obviously manmade!”
Jared suddenly came to a realization. It was nothing unusual if a giant egg like this manifested in the pool of blood after thousands of years. After all, the owners of the blood were no ordinary people.
However, even if an egg were to be created from the pool of blood, it would not have runes on its surface. Clearly, someone had carved the runes on it later on.
“Hahaha! I can’t believe I said you were bold and bright earlier. Are you only realizing this now? You’re dumb!”
The middle-aged man suddenly burst into boisterous laughter. It was then Jared realized he had been played like a fiddle. The middle-aged man had to be the one who carved the runes.
“Sir, you’re ruthless. I nearly died from the shockwaves just now…” Jared mumbled. “You’re the Golden Dragon’s True Form. If you actually die from the shockwaves, then it is nothing but your fate.”
The middle-aged man waved his hand and the runes on the giant egg gradually disappeared.
The disappearance of the runes made Jared sigh in relief. He was about to take a closer look at the inside of the egg when the middle- aged man spoke.
“Don’t move. Although the runes are now gone, this is an egg made by nature. You can’t simply touch it. I inscribed runes on it to safeguard the egg from theft. Now, attempt to fuse yourself with this egg and see if you can absorb its contents.”
