Chapter 2864 Deliberately Setting Us Up
Jared and the others continued their journey. Meanwhile, the Three Bandits found no signs of Josephine and the others even after searching for a long time.
In the end, Jared could only choose to take a break and wait for news from the Three Bandits. After all, traveling in such a harsh environment exhausted a lot of spiritual energy. While they were resting, a figure suddenly sprinted in their direction in a panic from a near distance away.
When Jared and the others saw that, they promptly frowned. On the heels of that, they assumed defensive stances.
It was the first time they had encountered another person after entering the northernmost land. The route Vasily picked was exceedingly secluded, yet they still bumped into someone.
In no time, the figure drew increasingly closer. Only then did Jared and the others notice a beast chasing after the person. The beast was massive, its body coated with white fur. With every step it took, a few icicles formed on the ground.
“Watch out, everyone! It’s an ice bear!” Vasily hurriedly warned. By then, the figure had already reached them. The instant the man made out Jared and the others, he was overjoyed. “Help! Please save me!”
Jared recognized him as Beau, who had introduced himself to him at Vasker’s. Right then, Beau’s burly body was blanketed in frost, and he kept calling out to Jared for help. He was at Fifth Level Body Fusion Realm, and the ice bear behind him was also of the same cultivation.
Despite the equal cultivations, the capabilities of a demon beast were generally above those of a human. On top of that, the northernmost land was the ice bear’s territory. Beau could only flee.
“This fellow is damn contemptible to lead the ice bear in our direction!” Vasily snarled upon seeing that turn of events.
It would be difficult for them to deal with an ice bear at Fifth Level Body Fusion Realm even if they were to join hands. Their capabilities were all mediocre, with none of them above Fifth Level Body Fusion Realm.
“Save me! Please save me!” Beau pleaded when he reached Jared. “What a b*stard! You’re no match for the ice bear even when you’re at Fifth Level Body Fusion Realm, but you ran to us, whose capabilities are beneath you, to save you. Aren’t you deliberately setting us up?” Vasily bellowed at Beau with immense dissatisfaction.
Beau flushed bright red. He swept his eyes over Jared and the others, only to find that they were either at Second or Third Level Body Fusion Realm, none beyond his level.
“I’m sorry. I’ll go and lead the ice bear away right this instant!” After apologizing, he swung his hand out, whipping up wind and snow everywhere. Then, he sprinted in another direction.
“Wait, Beau! You’re not this ice bear’s match and will get eaten sooner or later. Let me deal with it instead!” Jared hollered, stopping the man in his tracks.
“You?” Bafflement was written all over Beau’s face. He’s at Second Level Body Fusion Realm, so how could he possibly be able to defeat an ice bear at Fifth Level Body Fusion Realm? Furthermore, the ice bear has a boost of capabilities here in the northernmost land, making the gulf between them even more insurmountable!
He then continued, “I appreciate your kind offer, Jared. But considering your capabilities, I’m afraid you’d be dead with a single strike by the ice bear. Hurry up and flee as well!”
As he said that, he raced toward the side. No sooner had he taken two strides than the ice bear lunged at him with a roar. At once, Beau blanched. He lifted his hands and shot them out to block its attack.
However, the ice bear’s massive body, coupled with the countless frost coating him, made it so that he was wholly powerless to stop it.
In the nick of time, Jared appeared out of the blue and pushed Beau away. At the same time, he whipped out Dragonslayer Sword with a hand. A brilliant glint swiped across the air.
“Die!” Jared barked.
Infinite light burst forth from Dragonslayer Sword, instantly lighting up the sky.
