Quindon held nothing back as he explained the entire situation to Jared, including the part where Skylar was sacrificing their disciples in the secret realm to increase his own cultivation.
Even though Jared had braced himself for the worst, he still reeled in shock when he heard about Skylar treating secret realm disciples as resources and absorbing dozens of them daily.
“Well, as Evil Heart Sect’s purple-robed emissaries, it’s only natural that you carry out your responsibilities and serve the sect. Isn’t that something you should’ve prepared yourself for?” Jared commented.
“What we have with Evil Heart Sect is purely a working relationship. Lord Tanner promised to give us the mundane world once the spiritual energy was restored, Quindon explained. “We’ve been trapped in the secret realm for many years, and the speed of our cultivation is declining steadily. If we continued to stay in there, I doubt we’d ever make it into the Ethereal Realm. As you know, it’s every cultivator’s wish to become immortal. That’s why we agreed to join Evil Heart Sect!
However, it’s becoming clear that Evil Heart Sect is merely using us as cannon fodder. Even when Spiritual Energy Restoration Formation gets activated and restores the spiritual energy in the mundane world, I’m afraid there won’t be a place for us in any realm anymore. That’s why we’re looking to join forces with you. We hope to rescue our families, thwart the restoration of spiritual energy, and destroy Evil Heart Sect once and for all. After hearing that, Jared sighed softly. “The Ethereal Realm isn’t as perfect as you think. That place is far more cruel than the mundane world.”
“Oh? Have you been to the Ethereal Realm?” Quindon asked as he looked at the man in astonishment. Jared nodded. “I’ve just returned from there…”
For a while, Quindon was silent. Oh, gosh. We’ve worked hard all our lives to get to Ethereal Realm, yet we’ve never succeeded. On the other hand, Jared is young and doesn’t have the highest cultivation level, but he can already travel to and fro the Ethereal Realm! Comparison truly is the thief of joy…
“Jared, I’ve endured the overwhelming pressure of the laws of nature to meet with you today, so you know I’m not lying to you. As long as you rescue our families, you’ll have our wholehearted support in destroying Evil Heart Sect!” Quindon promised. After much contemplation, Jared asked, “I think I can trust you, but how do I rescue your families?”
“Our family members are locked in Evil Heart Sect’s dungeon. Since we’re under constant surveillance, we can’t go anywhere near it. I can take you into Evil Heart Sect’s secret realm, and you’ll have to find the opportunity to get to our families. Don’t worry. We’ll be on standby to assist you. As long as our families are free from the dangers, we won’t have anything else to fear.
After this incident, we’ve all thought things through. We realize we can’t abandon our loved ones, nor can we give up on our worldly emotions and desires. With that, he quickly left. After all, he was worried that Tanner might notice his absence if he was gone too long. If that were to happen, everything he had painstakingly planned would be in vain!
