Jared stood before the mouth of the cave, not daring to push open the door and step in. He missed his mother every second of every day, but when it was time to meet her for real, he did not know how to face her.
Just when he was about to push open the door at the mouth of the cave, it swung open from inside. On the heels of that, a woman in white walked out. Their eyes met and held.
Although they had never met each other, the sense of familial bond that came from the same blood flowing through their veins promptly sparked to life within them at that very moment. “Jared, my son?” Beatrice ventured softly, her eyes pinned on Jared..
“Mom!” Jared cried out loudly. Tears streamed down his face, and he dropped to his knees before her. In a flash, Beatrice’s face was also stained with tears. She hugged her son tightly, both crying their hearts out.
Witnessing such a scene, Cecilia and the others also shed tears. Roanna was similarly moved, understanding the depth of a mother’s pining for her child. Shifting her gaze to Santiago in front of her, she gave him a hard kick.
“Look what you’ve done!” In her way of thinking, Jared might have been able to meet his mother long ago if Santiago had not kept Beatrice in Gate of Thunder’s secret realm.
Hailey also glared at her father furiously, never having expected him to be such a person. Santiago wanted to explain things, but he had no way of defending himself then.
When Jared and Beatrice had wept for a while, the latter quickly ushered everyone into the cave. The inside of the cave was as warm as it was during spring, and the décor was exceedingly luxurious. Therefore, it would seem that Beatrice’s life there had been pretty good.
In spite of that, Jared had no plans of letting Santiago off the hook. Ultimately, his mother had been confined there for a long time. If it were not for the man, he would have long since been able to meet his mother.
“It must have been difficult for you, Mom. I’ve killed Ryker and Edgar. I’ll never spare anyone who picked on you!” While saying that, he swung his eyes at Santiago, the look in them glacial.
“Don’t get things wrong, Jared! I didn’t do anything to your mother. I only kept her here out of consideration of her safety,” Santiago hastily clarified upon sensing the man’s murderous gaze.
“Indeed, Mr. Hargreaves didn’t do anything to me, Jared. Besides, things have been pretty good for me here all this time,” Beatrice seconded.
At her words, the murderous intent in Jared’s eyes slowly faded. “I came to take you away from here to return to Jadeborough, Mom. When we arrive in the city, you can enjoy life,” he declared. “Okay, I’ll leave with you!” Beatrice nodded. Then, she turned her gaze to Cecilia and the others before asking, “Who are these girls?”
“They… They are…”
For a moment, Jared did not know how to introduce Cecilia and the others. “We’re Jared’s girlfriends, Mdm. Deragon. After you return to Jadeborough, you can enjoy life with peace of mind, and we’ll take care of you,” Cecilia chimed in graciously, slowly stepping forward.
“All of you?” Shock inundated Beatrice. But in the next heartbeat, it transformed into delight. With a smile adorning her face, she remarked, “Good, good. Great, in fact! Since you have so many girlfriends, do I have lots of grandchildren now?”
Jared lowered his head, not quite sure how to answer his mother. If I were to say she hasn’t a single grandchild, would she be utterly disappointed?
Seeing that, Cecilia hurriedly spoke up for him, divulging, “Jared has never forgotten about you all this time, Mdm. Deragon. He vowed that he wouldn’t bed us before saving you. Hence, we’re still virgins right now.”
When Beatrice heard that, she eyed Jared and chastised, “Don’t you know how to weigh the situation, silly? Were you planning to remain childless for ten years if you couldn’t save me for that long? Let’s leave quickly. When we arrive back in Jadeborough, go all the way with them. With so many of them, I’ll likely have many grandchildren at once.”
