He speculated that the divine tree was likely restricted in some way. Retrieving a Spirit Connecting Fruit was no simple task and could even result in death if they accidentally triggered the restriction.
“Okay, we’ll send someone up to try,” said Emiliano, supporting the guardian’s proposal. The guardian pointed at Luol and said, “Go up and pick one.” Since Luol had not faced any consequences for betraying Scorching Heaven Sect, Elgado saw it as a chance to send him on a mission.
Luol’s face immediately turned solemn when he heard that. He knew that the Spirit Connecting Fruit was not something that could be easily picked. However, given Elgado’s instructions, he had no choice but to comply. Luol began to climb the Spirit Connecting Tree carefully.
He was surrounded by an air wall that could protect him from harm if anything happened. Eventually, Luol reached the Spirit Connecting Fruit, but he still dared not reach out to pluck it.
With a flick of his fingers, red lights shot out in all directions as Luol checked for any possible restrictions surrounding the Spirit Connecting Tree.
After a thorough investigation, he breathed a sigh of relief, realizing that there were no restrictions on the tree. Slowly, he reached out to grab the Spirit Connecting Fruit.
Avery, Emiliano, and Elgado stood below, anxiously gazing up at the scene. If Luol were to successfully retrieve the fruit, they would not hesitate to rush up and pluck it themselves..
As soon as Luol’s hand touched the fruit, a sweet fragrance suddenly emanated from it, causing the entire tree to shake violently. The man almost fell down from the tree. Luckily, he clung to the trunk and narrowly avoided a deadly fall.
“What’s going on?” Emiliano asked in shock as he watched the Spirit Connecting Tree shake violently. Despite the intense battle earlier, the tree remained motionless, not even a single leaf moved.
But now, the entire tree was shaking violently just because Luol had touched the Spirit. Connecting Fruit. Something odd was going on.
“No matter what happens, pluck the Spirit Connecting Fruit and hand it to me, Luol!” Elgado shouted. He was determined to get the fruit first no matter what happened to the tree.
Luol reluctantly reached out again, but this time he was even more cautious and slow. As he trembled while reaching for the fruit again, a sudden gust of wind swept in.
Luol had no time to react and was instantly sucked into the tree by a tremendous force. Avery and Emiliano, along with the others beneath the tree, were scared out of their wits and immediately ran away in terror.
Suddenly, they saw a huge green dragon baring its fangs as it devoured Luol in one bite. Unfortunately, the man became lifeless and died in the dragon’s mouth. The dragon let out a loud roar, causing a powerful gust of wind to sweep across the ground.
“W-What the hell is that?” exclaimed Elgado, who had never seen such a creature before. However, Emiliano and Avery recognized it. They had followed the underground entrance that the dragon created but had never seen the creature until now. It had been hiding in the treetops all along.
“This is probably the mystical beast that guards the Spirit Connecting Tree. If we want to get our hands on the fruit, we have to slay the dragon,” Avery said firmly.
