Chapter 1633 Someone Who Calls The Shots
“Let go of the hatred?” Jared’s lips curved into a smirk. “I’ve killed your father as well as annihilated the entire Norton family. Can you really let go of that grudge?”
When Skylar heard those words, his whole body began to tremble. There was no way he could let go of the vengeance he had against his father’s murderer! “Control your emotions. He’s getting on your nerves on purpose.” The spirit reminded Skylar continuously.
Skylar took a deep breath before flashing Jared another smile. “That’s all in the past. Right now, I just want to focus on cultivation to increase my own abilities. I’ve long gotten rid of any thoughts of revenge. Revenge will only spiral into an endless cycle. Even if I have my revenge, killing you wouldn’t bring my family back to life.”
The relaxed expression on Skylar’s face showed no trace of the excruciating pain he felt at that moment. Eyeing Skylar up and down, Jared could not help but form a newfound sense of admiration for Skylar. The latter’s patience was far beyond all expectations.
“If you want to discuss a peace treaty, I have no issue with that. But first, you’d have to show your sincerity.” Jared stated calmly as he readjusted himself in his seat.
“Of course, we’re sincere. Whatever is it that you want, just let us know.” Skylar quickly responded to the turn of events.
“My girlfriend has been held hostage by Warriors Alliance for so long now. Release her immediately and show me the sincerity of the alliance.”
Seizing the opportunity, Jared attempted to rescue Josephine.
The moment those words left Jared’s mouth, Skylar frowned. “Jared, I’m sure you know that there is a powerful force behind Warriors Alliance. Even as the president of Warriors Alliance, I am just a mere pawn! I cannot authorize the release of your girlfriend. However, you have my word that she will receive the best possible treatment!”
Jared’s wrath skyrocketed as soon as he heard that. “Then what else is there to discuss? You people are using the fresh blood of my girlfriend to cultivate the elites of Warriors Alliance, and you have the audacity to tell me that she’ll receive the best possible treatment? If I f*cking lock you up and make you bleed every single day, can I say that you’re receiving the best possible treatment?”
Murderous intent rose behind Jared’s widened eyes.
“Jared, calm down. As martial artists, we shouldn’t take romantic relations too seriously. Besides this request, I can promise you anything else. Warriors Alliance has many resources for cultivation. I can give them to you!” Skylar coaxed, terrified that Jared would lose his temper.
Jared fixated his gaze on Skylar as his murderous intent slowly dissipated. Taking a seat once again, he told Skylar, “In that case, I’ll change my request. Give me the scepter in your hand. I’ve taken a liking to it the moment I’ve set my eyes on it.”
When Skylar heard that, he instinctively tightened his grasp on the scepter, afraid that Jared would snatch it away.
“What’s wrong? Are you not giving it to me?” At the sight of Skylar’s panic, Jared sneered coldly.
“I… I don’t have any say in this either. Please state another request!” Skylar replied awkwardly.
“You can’t seem to authorize anything, then why the hell are you the one liaising with me? Go get someone who calls the shots!”
Jared rose to his feet and prepared to leave.
“Jared, Warriors Alliance is in possession of many ancient ruins. If you agree to stop the war against Warriors Alliance, we’ll agree to give you one of the sites in exchange!” Skylar offered in a loud voice.
Warriors Alliance organized a Trial every year. Hence, they would have to have adequate space for the event.
When Jared heard that, he halted in his path and turned back around. “Do I get to choose the ancient ruins that you mentioned?”
“Of course!” Skylar nodded.
“All right, then. I shall choose a site of the ancient ruins.”
Jared took a seat once again.
Joy overfilled Skylar’s heart. Without wasting more time, he ordered someone to bring out a tome which the cover was worn out. From the looks of it, it had gone through many vicissitudes.
