“Sorry. We are not locals, and that’s why we are not familiar with the rules here…” Flaxseed quickly explained to the young man. “Not locals?”
The young man sized Jared and the others up before continuing placidly, “Since you guys are not familiar with the rules, I will let you off this time. Go ahead and pay your respects.”
“Sure, sure.” Flaxseed nodded continuously. Meanwhile, Colin, who was observing the exchange between the two men, was rather displeased with the young man’s arrogance. Besides, he felt extremely embarrassed by Flaxseed’s cowardly behavior.
After all, he used to be a scion of a wealthy family, and he did not like being treated that way. “Who are you to tell us to pay respects? It’s ridiculous to ask us to pay respects to a statue,” Colin said to the young man.
His disrespectful words offended the young man, who was instantly enraged. At the same time, the armored guards surrounded Colin.
“Insolence! How dare you disrespect our crown prince? Seems like you have a death wish!” After saying that, one of the guards drew his saber and charged at Colin.
A look of disdain appeared on Colin’s face. He wasn’t the least bit scared of the attack, for he knew that those guards were no match for him.
The man grabbed the saber effortlessly before launching a kick at the guard.
After the guard was sent flying to the ground, the rest of the guards charged toward Colin at once.
“All right! Break it up! Stop fighting!” Flaxseed stepped forward and exclaimed.
At that instant, the aura that burst out of the man’s body created an immense pressure that stopped the guards from progressing.
When the young man sensed Flaxseed’s aura, his expression changed, and a crease appeared between his brows.
Looking at Flaxseed in disbelief, the man ordered, “Everyone, stand down.”
When the guards heard the order, all of them retreated.
“We will pay our respects straight away. We will do it right now.”
Flaxseed nodded politely at the young man before dragging Colin and Jared toward the statue to pay their respects.
“Let’s not create any trouble. Remember, we are here to find out the secret of this place,” Flaxseed whispered to Jared.
Colin was still rather displeased, but Jared spoke. “Colin, let’s listen to Mr. Flaxseed.”
Since Jared had said so, Colin dared not say anything else.
The three men entered the temple and knelt down before the statue.
The moment their knees touched the ground, a faint white light emitted from their bodies and was immediately absorbed by the statue.
Even though Colin and Flaxseed did not notice anything amiss, Jared knitted his brows and fixed his gaze on the statue.
Earlier, when Jared knelt down, he felt a faint trace of spiritual energy being sucked out of his body and entered the statue immediately after.
“There’s something wrong with this statue,” Jared said in a hushed voice.
“What’s wrong with it? Haven’t you already checked?” Flaxseed asked, puzzled.
“When I checked using my spiritual sense just now, I didn’t manage to detect anything wrong. Seems like I need to check it again.”
After he finished speaking, Jared stood up. Then, he walked toward the statue and placed his hand lightly on it.
Everyone gasped in shock when they witnessed the scene.
“How insolent! How dare you touch the deity with your hand?”
“Come back here! You must be sick of living!”
“Kill him!”
The surrounding crowd was burning with fury when they saw what Jared did.
The young man heard the commotion from outside and dashed into the temple with his men immediately.
When he saw Jared’s hand touching the statue, he flew into a rage.
“Remove your hand! How dare you!”
The young man began exuding a terrifying murderous intent.
However, he did not attack Jared on the spot as he did not want to risk damaging the statue.
Jared ignored the man and exerted more force on his hand that was touching the statue. Suddenly, cracks appeared on the statue, and the next moment, the entire statue crumbled.
