Chapter 1363 Energy Cultivator
The man then pulled his black mask off, revealing a face covered in pockmarks. It was none other than Flaxseed, who had given Zion two tracking talismans from Jadeborough.
After taking a closer look at his face, Jared realized he didn’t know the man at all. “I don’t know you, so why did you save me?” he asked with a frown.
“I just wanted to work together with you, that’s all,” Flaxseed replied with a faint smile. “Work together? And do what?”
Jared stared cautiously at Flaxseed. Energy cultivators like us need a huge amount of spiritual energy for our cultivation, and the world is currently facing a deficit in spiritual energy…
Jared’s eyes went wide at the thought of that. “You… Are you also here because of the cave?”
Flaxseed paused briefly in surprise before letting out a chuckle. “You sure are a smart one! Now I see why you managed to trick Zion…”
“Who are you? Tell me the truth, or I will use force!” Jared shouted while pointing Dragonslayer Sword at Flaxseed.
Even with the tip of Dragonslayer Sword inches away from his face, Flaxseed showed no fear whatsoever. “Easy there, buddy. You can call me ‘Mr. Flaxseed.’ I’ve only recently entered the Golden Core phase. You, on the other hand, have long since entered the Nascent Soul phase. Given the difference in our strengths, you could easily kill me in one strike, so you have no reason to fear me at all. I mean, what could I possibly do to hurt you? Poor Zion has no idea that he needs to completely destroy the bodies of Nascent Soul energy cultivators in order to kill them!”
Hmm… This Flaxseed guy does seem to know what he’s talking about. While he may be skilled in magecraft, he is still in the Golden Core phase. In other words, he has only recently become a Martial Arts Grandmaster. Therefore, it is impossible for him to hurt me, especially with me being on guard like this. It’d be a different story if he were to activate his arcane array and catch me by surprise, though. Tobias used up a lot of internal energy while fighting me. That, coupled with his lack of awareness, gave Mr. Flaxseed here the chance to unleash Triple Threat Array. Even so, Tobias managed to break out of Triple Threat Array, which shows that Mr. Flaxseed isn’t really powerful.
With that in mind, Jared lowered his guard and sheathed Dragonslayer Sword as he asked about spiritual energy cultivation.
Through Flaxseed’s explanation, Jared found out that energy cultivators weren’t as powerful as he had imagined.
Due to the dwindling amount of spiritual energy in the world, energy cultivators lacked the resources required to become stronger.
In fact, they were so weak that strong martial artists could easily beat them to a pulp. As a result, many energy cultivators concealed their identities to avoid trouble.
Some even traveled the world in search of areas rich in spiritual energy.
Jared had managed to reach the Nascent Soul phase in a short amount of time.
He was able to make such rapid progress thanks to his Focus Technique, which allowed him to use anything in place of spiritual energy. Not every energy cultivator was that lucky, though.
“I’ve been trapped in this phase for over ten years. I pretended to be a fortune-teller to conceal my identity as I traveled the world in search of areas rich in spiritual energy. I came across this cave three years ago, but chose not to take action back then. Had I not been forced, I probably wouldn’t have come here until a few years later,” Flaxseed said.
“What’s inside this cave? Why does the water flowing out of it contain such pure spiritual energy?” Jared asked curiously.
“It’s an ancient tomb,” Flaxseed replied.
“An ancient tomb?” Jared’s eyes went wide with shock and disbelief. “Even if an ancient tomb contains the most precious of jewelry, it still shouldn’t be capable of producing such pure spiritual energy!”
