“Don’t worry, Mr. Colton. I know what to do. Don’t forget the enhancement pills you promised—”
Before Desmond could finish, Colton patted his chest and promised, “Rest assured, Lord Cowper. I’m a man of my word. It’s just a hundred enhancement pills. It’s nothing to my family.”
Only then did Desmond smile satisfactorily. He then waited silently for Cecilia to arrive.
Soon, Cecilia arrived at Divine Beast Sect with two martial trainees. It was not her first visit to Divine Beast Sect ever since she formed an alliance with them. Thus, she did not bring many people with her this time.
Seeing Cecilia had arrived, Colton brought the others to hide at the back of the hall and watch her through the cracks.
As soon as Desmond saw Cecilia, he quickly apologized politely, “I’m so sorry for making you travel all the way here, Lady Jingle.”
“Oh, you’re being too polite with me, Lord Cowper. The messenger made it sound as if there was something urgent. Do you have something important to discuss with me?” Cecilia asked, gazing at Desmond.
“Please have a seat, Lady Jingle. Let’s have some coffee while we talk. I’ve specially prepared some quality coffee.” Desmond gestured for her to have a seat.
Not having her guard up, Cecilia sat in the chair but did not drink the coffee. Instead, she asked again, “Lord Cowper, perhaps you should tell me about the urgent matter.”
Cecilia was more eager to find out what was the matter that made Desmond summon her so urgently.
“Lady Jingle, do you know Colton Rider of the Rider family?” Desmond asked.
Cecilia nodded. “Of course. Isn’t he the lecher who has dozens of wives? He has quite the reputation here. What about him?”
“Colton came looking for me, wanting me to introduce you to him. Looks like he’s taken a liking to you. Then again, you and I have formed an alliance. There’s no way I can do such a thing. That’s why I rejected his request. But you should know how powerful the Rider family is now. If they were to attack Divine Beast Sect, we’d only get beaten up. So, I’m thinking—”
Before Desmond could even finish his words, Cecilia said gratefully, “Please stop, Lord Cowper. Since we’ve formed an alliance, then we’re in this together. Crimson Palace will definitely come out in full force if the Rider family dares to attack Divine Beast Sect. We’ll never let Divine Beast Sect face the Rider family alone, even if it means dying with them.”
Cecilia was extremely grateful to Desmond. Since he offended the Rider family because of me, I’ll never make Crimson Palace sit idly by if Divine Beast Sect is in trouble.
Desmond’s expression lit up instantly. He lifted his cup and said, “That’s great. I feel much at ease hearing this from you. Lady Jingle, let’s use our coffee to have a toast to our decision.”
Not the slightest bit suspicious of Desmond, Cecilia raised her cup and downed her drink with him.
Colton, who had been spying on them the entire time, smiled smugly when he saw Cecilia finishing her cup of coffee.
Cecilia felt nothing unusual after drinking the coffee. She even continued chatting with Desmond.
The moment Colton revealed himself, Cecilia froze in shock.
“Hahaha! I kept hearing rumors of Lady Jingle’s incredible beauty. Seeing her with my own eyes only confirms the rumors. She’s a hundred times more beautiful than an angel. I’ll die happy if I can sleep with Lady Jingle just once. It’ll be a happy death.” Colton stared at her lecherously as he slowly approached her.
Cecilia knitted her brows. “Lord Cowper, what’s going on?”
Desmond turned to Cecilia and advised, “Cecilia, please just do as Mr. Colton says. I didn’t have a choice, either.”
Cecilia immediately realized what was going on after hearing what he said. Her face turned red with fury, and she glared daggers at Desmond, looking as if she wanted to eat him up so badly.
