Nevertheless, after the event, Jared finally knew that the legend was real. After scanning his surroundings, Jared realized there were three bodies around—the bodies of the Warriors Alliance members. However, there was no sign of Zion, so that meant he had not died.
“That old man’s truly tough,” Jared cursed under his breath before hurrying his way to Crimson Palace. At Wildefield, near the borders of the Southwest Region.
Although the city was not a huge one, it was an important city by the borders. Moreover, there were plenty of mountains and forests around, so there were many sects and prestigious families living there.
Ever since Jared had killed Richard of the Divine Beast Sect, Divine Beast Sect had fallen from grace and lost its status as the top sect in the south.
Desmond had taken over Divine Beast Sect, but it would take him quite a while before he could bring the sect back to its former glory. One day, while Desmond was dealing with Divine Beast Sect’s affairs, one of the members reported to him in a hurry.
“Lord Cowper, Colton of Wildefield’s Rider family has requested an audience,” the man said. “Colton Rider? Why has he come to our sect?”
Desmond was baffled. After all, the Divine Beast Sect had no relationship with the Rider family at all. Moreover, the Rider family had always claimed itself as the top wealthy family in the south and was relatively hostile toward the Divine Beast Sect.
Hence, a sense of foreboding descended over Desmond at the Riders’ sudden visit.
“Lord Cowper, what do we do?” the man asked when he saw Desmond frowning in silence.
“Let them in,” Desmond finally said.
Desmond had just taken over the Divine Beast Sect. Moreover, many old members had left, so the Divine Beast Sect was far from its original powerful state.
Hence, he decided not to cross the Rider family. Otherwise, the Divine Beast Sect would not be able to stay there anymore.
Soon, a middle-aged man was led into the building along with two subordinates behind him.
Upon seeing him, Desmond quickly stood up to greet him.
“Mr. Colton, what a surprise to see you at the Divine Beast Sect!” Desmond politely uttered.
“Lord Cowper, you’ve taken over the Divine Beast Sect, so we, the Riders, should come to congratulate you. However, we were a little too busy previously, so we only managed to come now,” Colton said with a small smile on his face.
“You’re too nice, Mr. Colton. Please take a seat!”
Desmond hurriedly invited Colton to sit down before instructing his men to pour a cup of tea for Colton.
After a while of small talk, Colton said, “Lord Cowper, I hear that the Divine Beast Sect has allied itself with Crimson Palace.”
Desmond nodded when he heard that. “Yes, we’re now in an alliance.”
“That’s good, that’s good,” Colton commented. “I’ve always admired Lady Jingle of Crimson Palace, but I never had the chance to meet her. That’s why I’ve come here; I wanted to ask you, Lord Cowper, to recommend me to Lady Jingle. Of course, I won’t ask for a favor without any intention of returning it. Once you connect me with Lady Jingle, my family will be willing to provide you with a hundred enhancement pills.”
Then, he turned and stared right at Desmond.
Desmond’s eyes lit up when he heard that Colton would be providing him with a hundred enhancement pills. However, he knew what Colton wanted from Cecilia.
In Wildefield and even the entire Southwest Region, Colton was infamous for his perversion. Colton had over a dozen wives, but they were still not enough for him.
Desmond would essentially be pushing Cecilia into hell by recommending Colton to her.
However, Desmond’s stance wavered in the face of a hundred enhancement pills.
“Lord Cowper, I know what you’re hesitating about. Are you worried about Jared? Let me tell you this—Jared’s long dead. He has been killed by President Zeigler of Warriors Alliance. Therefore, your only choice is to work with me. You should know that the Riders will have no trouble destroying the Divine Beast Sect with how weak you are right now.”
It seemed like Colton had come prepared.
