“Cecilia, what happened just now?” Millie ran over.
She had fallen into a deep sleep after consuming the pill, but the commotion created by the lightning tribulations woke her up.
After running into the yard, Millie froze in her tracks when she saw Jared.
After giving him the once-over, she screamed hysterically, “A ghost! Oh, dear, a ghost!”
Millie paled in fright and ran to hide behind Cecilia’s back.
“Hey, you’re the ghost. Have you ever seen such a handsome ghost?” Jared joked as Millie seemed frightened of him.
She thought I was dead, so it is normal for her to get scared to see me alive and well.
“Millie, Jared didn’t die. He’s not a ghost,” Cecilia explained cheerfully.
Sticking her head out, Millie observed Jared and asked, “Even if Jared is alive, he looks different! He was wounded and his bones were crushed. Why can he stand up now?”
Cecilia was at a loss for words, stumped after hearing Millie’s question. She was still confused about many things.
“I have a treasure to rebuild my body. That was why I recovered this quickly. If you don’t trust me, come and pinch me to see if I’m a ghost!” Jared told the little girl as a smile flitted across his lips.
Slowly, Millie went over to him and pinched his arm forcefully.
“Hey, that hurts!” Jared pretended that her pinch had hurt him.
Seeing that, Millie grew excited. “Oh, you’re really Jared! You’re not a ghost!”
Suddenly, she burst into tears and threw herself at Jared.
“I was so scared as I thought you died just like that,” she wailed.
“I’m fine. Everything is fine,” Jared consoled her.
Jared, Millie, and Cecilia stayed up the entire night so they could chat in Cecilia’s room.
When the sun rose the following day from the east, Jared glanced out of the window and rose to his feet slowly.
Cecilia and Millie said nothing for they had already said what they wanted during the night.
They knew Jared had to leave to do his own thing.
Jared left Crimson Palace without looking back. He was afraid he couldn’t control his feelings if he were to do that.
“David Norton, now that I’m a Martial Arts Marquis, I shall use the Norton family to establish my authority,” Jared declared with a cruel gleam in his eyes.
As he was now a Martial Arts Marquis, it was time for him to deal with the remaining matters.
