Maddox got out of the car under Lachlan’s confused gaze.
“What’s going on? Didn’t I ask you to leave?” Lachlan roared.
Maddox ignored Lachlan and went up to Skylar. In a respectful tone, he said, “Mr. Norton, Mrs. Dunn and her son are in the car.”
Lachlan figured out what was going on when he saw how respectful Maddox was toward Skylar. “How dare you betray me?”
Lachlan was infuriated, and he wanted to slap Maddox across the face.
Skylar smiled and threatened, “Mr. Dunn, calm down. Your wife and your son are in the car. If you fight back, I can’t guarantee their safety.”
Lachlan immediately retracted his hand and stared at Maddox furiously. “Why? Why did you betray me?”
Lachlan didn’t know why Maddox would betray him because Maddox had been serving him for more than a decade.
“Old Mr. Dunn, the Dunn family is no match for the Norton family. If you continue to fight, you’ll die. Why don’t you just bow down to the Norton family? It’s better to serve them than to die, no?” Maddox uttered shamelessly.
Lachlan was utterly infuriated, but he kept silent.
