A Man Like None Other Chapter 1039

Chapter 1039 Buying Spree

“Ladies and gentlemen, I would first like to thank you for attending the auction. The items on the block today are extremely valuable, for I have discovered them from a ship sunk a thousand years ago. If there’s anything you fancy, you have to act fast before it’s too late!”

Holding the microphone in his hand, Freddy declared excitedly, “And now, let the auction begin!”

Just as he finished, a crystal vase as tall as a person was brought on stage.

The moment he laid eyes on it, Walter’s face lit up.

After a round of intense bidding, he won the bid for the vase at fifty million.

Subsequently, Walter couldn’t control his excitement as he continued to bid for the subsequent items with a vengeance.

After buying up more than ten items, Walter wasn’t satisfied at all. In fact, both his eyes had turned red.

It felt as if that was the most enjoyable auction he had ever attended.

After a while, Walter’s behavior began attracting everyone’s attention. Although all of them were rich, it was the first time they saw someone bid so indiscriminately. In fact, even Skylar was dumbstruck by what he saw.

Meanwhile, Freddy, who was sitting in the front row, couldn’t resist turning around and giving Walter an indiscernible look.

“Grandpa, it’s time to stop, as you have already spent a lot. In fact, you have finished all the money Jared gave you.”

Realizing that everyone was staring at them, Lizbeth quickly gave Walter’s sleeve a tug.

Jolted back to his senses by Lizbeth’s reminder, Walter explained awkwardly, “I just got carried away after seeing so many antiques. Don’t worry. I’ll stop now.”

“Lizbeth, since your grandpa is enjoying himself, you should let him buy till his heart’s content, as antiques retrieved from the ocean are hard to come by. Besides, I still have some money with me,” William added with a chuckle.

“Right, right, right. William hit the nail on the head. Underwater antiques are really rare. Who knows, I might find a gem within them with skyrocketing value!”

Walter found himself an excuse to buy more antiques.

Having heard his response, Lizbeth sighed in resignation. After all, she was well aware of Walter’s obsession with antiques. As long as he sees something he fancies, no amount of persuasion will stop him.

When the auction came to a close, Walter ended up buying everything except for a few dilapidated items he didn’t like, spending a shocking ten billion.

Only when the event was over did he leave reluctantly. As for the antiques he won the bid for, they would be sent to his home once the cruise ship returned to Southernshire.

After the auction, Walter’s display had made him the talk of the town during the two-day journey. After all, there were few people who could blow more than ten billion at a single event.

Two days later, the ship arrived at Dragon Island.

This time, the scenery had entirely changed from a few months ago. It was no longer scorching hot nor freezing cold at all.

Instead, the air on the island was so fresh that it felt extremely pleasant.

Other than Jared’s cruise ship, there were many other ships docked at Dragon Island. Consequently, the entire place was crowded with tourists.

“Lizbeth, after this, take Mr. Grange and the others sightseeing and stay away from me,” Jared instructed before disembarking from the ship.

Nodding in acknowledgment, Lizbeth reminded in a concerned tone, “You have to be careful!”

“Relax, there’s just two of them. They can’t stop me if I want to leave.”

Jared wasn’t worried at all. Even if he was no match for Skylar and Karl in a fight, fleeing wasn’t going to be a problem. Therefore, if both of them tried anything funny, he would be able to leave unscathed.
