Chapter 1029 Watch Your Back
“It’s fine. Since they want to compete, let’s do it!”
Jared waved his hand and continued, “I’ll be in seclusion for the next few days. If there’s nothing urgent, please don’t disturb me!”
“Sure!”
Theodore nodded.
Just then, a member of the Department of Justice arrived in a hurry and said, “General, someone has asked to meet Mr. Chance.”
“Who’s that?” Theodore was surprised.
Currently, Jared was considered to be the hot potato of the entire martial arts world in Jadeborough. Whoever dared to go near him would be deemed as going against the Warriors Alliance.
The fact that someone was looking for Jared had taken Theodore by surprise.
“He said his name is Howard Dunn,” answered the member.
“How did he get here?” Jared was equally astounded.
Ever since they parted ways at the ancient tomb, Jared had not seen Howard although Howard did leave a good impression.
When Jared followed the member of the Department of Justice to the hall, he saw Howard drinking tea.
Howard immediately stood up when he saw Jared. With a look of adoration on his face, he said, “Jared, you’re really something. I can’t believe you dare to openly defy the Warriors Alliance. I’m getting sick and tired of this bunch of people. But, I don’t want to have a fallout with them. You are awesome!”
Jared smiled lightly. “I have no choice either.”
“Go ahead and do what you need to do. You’ll have my full support. The Warriors Alliance cannot continue to lord over everybody. Someone has to stand up to them!”
Howard patted Jared on his shoulders.
Jared smiled and said, “Howard, did you come all the way just to flatter me?”
“Hahaha! If I want to flatter you, there’s no need for me to come here all the way. I can easily pay for a group of people to do that on the martial arts forum. That will be even better. I have come to look for you regarding an important matter.”
As Howard was saying that, he scanned his eyes around the surrounding.
“We are at the Department of Justice. There won’t be any spies here!”
Jared was getting very curious. He wondered what Howard wanted to tell him given his secretive demeanor.
“Jared, do you still remember Skylar?” asked Howard.
Jared nodded. “Of course!”
Skylar had threatened Jared before. There was no way Jared could have forgotten about him.
“Be careful of that fellow. I heard he has been eyeing your magical item,” whispered Howard.
“Haha! If he’s capable, then let him come. I’m not even afraid of the Warriors Alliance. Why will I be scared of Skylar?”
The news did not affect Jared too much. As the president of the Warriors Alliance, Zion had asked Jared personally for the Thousand of Miles Away, but Jared had refused to give it to him. Why will I be afraid of Skylar?
“Be careful of a dangerous scoundrel like Skylar. The Norton family is almost as powerful as the Warriors Alliance. You better watch your back!” Howard reminded him.
“Sure. Howard, thank you for the tipoff!” said Jared with much gratitude.
Once Howard left, Jared took out the Thousand of Miles Away and began to get ready for his seclusion.
Just as Jared was ready, someone called out for him again.
“General Jackson, is there a problem?” Jared asked Theodore as he walked out of his room.
“Mr. Chance, there is someone else here to look for you again!” said Theodore.
“Who is it?”
Jared was befuddled. What is it with today? People keep coming and looking for me. I can’t even go into seclusion and cultivate.
“It’s Skylar from the Norton family.”
The moment those words came out from Theodore, they saw Skylar walking in with his men.
As usual, there was a frail-looking elderly following behind Skylar. However, this time around, there was also a short and clever man with him as well.
“Jared, how have you been?”
Skylar was full of smiles and sounded friendly.
However, Jared was aware that a smiling tiger like him was the most dangerous of all.
