Alpha Brooks
Holding Payton on my lap and feeling the small sparks felt right. But what I do not understand is she rejected me; she marked another and was marked in return, breaking the bond, so why do we feel sparks? I never stopped looking for her or loving her. Could that be why? Well, I will have to figure that out later. Right now, I need to rescue my daughter and Fawn and k**l the bastards who took them.
“ Can I get you some coffee, Greyson?”
I looked up and saw Maverick had entered the kitchen.
“Yes, thanks.”
A few minutes later, Maverick places a cup in front of me and sits across the table.
“I never thought I would ever have to look at your ugly face again, never mind having you in my house,” he says.
I laugh
“Same Maverick, same,” I said.
“I want you to know these are my kids, and Payton is my wife, not yours. You came to help, so help then you leave and never look back, got it?” he says.
“Only the twins are not yours, are they? NO. They are mine. They were kept from me for 16 years. “
“ENOUGH” “ DO you two idiots want my kids to hear you?” Payton skulls us coming into the kitchen.
“enough about this, you hear me?.” We need to work together to find the girls to find Melody.”
“You are right, and I have already started some work. My warriors will arrive at your packhouse this afternoon, along with the Alphas from the Diamond Moon and. Silent Moon Packs, I have already informed your father, Payton, that he will contact me when they arrive.”
“Why the other, Alphas?” asked Maverick.
“They too have girls missing from their packs; they agreed to come to see our evidence against Alpha Mendoza. You have to remember that most of us have alliances with his pack and can not believe the deception,”
“ So, what is the plan?” Are we just going to walk in there and get them?” Asked Maverick.
“ No, we have to make sure they are still there, then we attack and take them all out,” I said.
“You do not think the girls are still there?” Payton asks.
“ I have done some research with Logan, man. You two have a smart, good kid there. Anyway, it seems they just do not kidnap them, Payton. “
“ What do they do to them?” she asks.
“Speak Brooks,” says Maverick.
“They use them as slaves until they have at least 6 to 10 girls, then they hold an auction, where they sell the girls to the highest bidder, where they take them and do to them. After that? We have no clue yet.”
I watch as Payton breaks down. I want to comfort her, but Maverick takes her in his arms. A small growl leaves my lips, but I try to control myself.
“It is OK, baby; we will find her. If he sells her, I will make him tell us who he sold her to.” We will find her.”
“ I am also going to try something else,” I said.
Payton let go of Maverick and turned to me.
“ What do you have planned?”
“ I am ashamed to say me and Mateo Mendoza are good friends. I am just going to go to his territory and pay him a visit. I canceled my visit this month with him because I said I had to look for my daughter and her best friend they had taken also,”
“Will he find it a coincidence?”
“ No, I will say I just happened to be looking in that area and stopped hoping for a meal.”
“ You think it will work?” Asked Maverick.
“ I am hoping, but I have to try. Give me something of Melody’s. I can smell to imprint the smell, incase I smell her, then I would know she was at least still there, and we can proceed.”
Payton runs from the room and returns a few minutes later with a sweater.
“This is Melody’s favorite sweater. She wore it all the time, ” she says, handing it to me.
I bring it to my nose, strawberries, and peaches,
“ May I keep it with me for a bit to keep the scent fresh in my memories? I know it sounds weird, but I need to know her scent.”
“ No, Greyson, we understand what you mean and are trying to do, so yes, hold on to it,” she says.
“ Here says Maverick”. He opens his wallet , pulls out a picture, and hands it to me.
“ Why are you giving me a picture of Payton as a teenager?”
“That is Melody Greyson,” Payton says.
My God, my daughter is beautiful. She is Payton’s twin; she is the spitting image of her, just like Cole is of me.
“ Wow, she is beautiful; she looks just like you, Payton, just like the day when I first met you.”
“I told you she was my spitting image. “
“And Cole is mine.”
“I am yours what?”
We all look at the door and see Cole standing there looking at us.
“I am your what, Alpha Brooks?”
“Cole honey I did not hear you come down. You must be hungry,” Payton said.
“ How about you all answer my question, Mom?”
“ Oh, sorry, you will be his guide to the packhouse and around the territory for me please. he has some pack members coming in to help us today.”
“ Oh, OK, sure, Mom. No problem. Do I have time to eat first?” he asks.
We all laugh
“ Yes, you do. We are just waiting for your grandfather to call me saying they have arrived anyway.”
“Dad, can I take the Alpha on the quad down the mountain?” Cole asks.
“Quad?” I ask
“ Yeah! My dad bought us each one when we were 10, so we can use them to find him on patrol. Since we do not have a wolf yet,” Cole says.
“Well, then, I would love to ride on it with you down the hill.”
“ Hill, no way we are going through the bush up parts of the mountain and back down the back trails to the Packhouse. Think you’re up for it?”
“That sounds awesome. Count me in so.. Cole”
“ Or we can shift and run the same path up to you.”
“Wait, you have your wolf?”
“ Yes, Melody and I got our wolf at 14 and shifted for the first time on our 16th birthday a few months ago,”
I was amazed; both I and Payton were the same.
“ What color is your wolf? And what’s his name?”
“ He is black with Goldeyes, his name is Nyko.”
“ What about you, Alpha Brooks? What does your wolf look like? I wish my wolf looked like my mom’s and Melody’s. Such a pretty golden color,”
“ Yes, I remember your mom’s wolf, so Melody’s wolf is the same? What’s her name?
“Phoenix”
“ Very pretty.”
“ My Beast is called Akela, and he is black with golden eyes as well.”
Cole looked up from his food; he had a look on his face like he was putting 2 and 2 together.
“ Let’s take our wolves for a run when we need to go down,” he says.
“ Sure, no problem. Hey mom, I want to show you something. Will you come to see?”
“ Of course, Cole, let’s go.”
When they leave the room, I drink my coffee. I have missed so much of my kids’ lives because of the Beast I am. I will find my daughter, and then I am going to make things right.
Payton
“So what do you want to show me, Cole?”
“ I do not want to show you, anything, Mom. I want to talk to you about something,” he says.
“ Oh, OK, what is it, son?”
“Alpha Brooks mom.”
“ What about him, Cole?”
“ He is my real father, isn’t he?”
Oh god, no, he figured it out. What have I done?
“ What no, Cole, you know who your father is?” I said.
“ I am not a child anymore, Mom. OK, please do not lie to me OK, Dad will always be my father no matter what, but Brooks he is my real father, isn’t he?
“Fine, alright, you’re right; you are not a child, even though you will always be my child, but fine. Yes, Greyson is yours and Melody’s real father.” “ But your father will always be your father. He stuck with me when I found out I was pregnant due to The Beasts’ Actions, and he took you and your sister in as his real children and has loved and treated you as such your whole life.”
“ I know he did, Mom, and you are right; he is my dad and always will be.”
“ Do not push him away, Cole. Do not ever say he is not your father. Do you hear me?”
“I would never ever do that. I love my dad and always will. Blood doesn’t always make a parent mom. We all know that. I am a little disgusted to know me and Melody are the result of the Beast and his actions, though, ” he says.
“Your amazing mom, not once did you ever treat us badly or hate us, knowing how we were conceived. “
“ No, I could never do that to my children. Not one person in this family could. It was never your fault what he did to me and how you were conceived. So why would we treat you any differently? I said
“We have always loved you and always will, and Maverick will always be your father.”
“Does he know?”Cole asked.
“ Who?”
“Alpha Brooks, does he know?”
“ As of yesterday, when he saw you, yes, he knew right away.”
“ That is why you did not want me to go with you and did not want me to be seen?”
“Yes, I knew if he saw you, he would know right away you were his son; you are a spitting image of him after all.”
“ You think lol, how do you think I put it together, Mom? Melody always looked like you, but I never looked like Dad. Then I met your ex-mate, who hurt you and, bam, I was looking in a mirror.”
“ Please forgive me, Cole, but Maverick is your father. I could not allow you to grow up with the Beast and turn out like him; there was no way. I love your father. He was better for you. Look at you and your sister and brother, your awesome, caring, loving people, the way it should be.”
“ I know why you never told us, Mom, and you are right. We had a better upbringing than we ever could have had with our father, and I thank you for that. I have always hated that monster for what he did to my mother. “ Cole says
I hug my son
“ I love you so much, kiddo.”
“ Love you too, mom, Mom?”
“ Yeah,”
“ Would you and Dad hate me if I wanted to get to know him, though?”
“No, Cole, I would not hate you at all, as long as you remember I am your father.”
We turned around and saw Maverick standing there with tears rolling down his face.
“ You and Melody are my children. I do not care that my cousin’s s***m was used to make you, your mine, and no one, NO ONE, is taking you from me.”
Cole goes and hugs his dad.
“ No one is taking me from you, dad, ever. You are the best father ever. I would just like to get to know him, and I want him to know I hate him for what he did to Mom. I will never leave you or mom, dad. I just want to know him.”
“I can live with that; as long as he knows he can not take you from me,” says Maverick.
“That is never going to happen.”
“ Go get ready to head to the packhouse, son. I want to talk to your mom before I have to go on patrol. “
Cole runs off into the house.
“Are you happy know Payton? You just cost me, my children, because you ran to that a*****e, the a*****e who did horrible things to you,“
“ Whoa, Maverick, it was never my intention to hurt you at all. Our daughter is missing, and he knows the man that has her. I was thinking of Melody and bringing her home “
“ Yeah, well, he will help you there and take my kids away from me. You heard Cole wants to get to know him. He never would’ve and never would have questioned it if you hadn’t run off to him.”
“I can not believe you’re acting this way. Our daughter was taken. I will do anything to save my children.”
“ Yeah, I see that. You took them away from a good father who has been there since day one and gave them back to a monster.”
“That is not what I did. I am trying to find my daughter Maverick “
“Yeah you and your lover boy in there find your daughter and take my kids away from me , but you will never take Logan from me , do you hear me? Never “
“What the hell are you talking about, Maverick Matthew? He is not my lover boy, and I am not taking anyone away from you. How dare you?”
“HOW DARE I PAYTON, HAHA HOW DARE YOU, I saw you last night sitting on that animal’s lap, so save me your lies.”
“ It is not what you think; it was about Melody. You are the man I love and always have loved, and I would never take any of our children from you. “
“Just what a slut would say as they sneak and plot behind my back.”
I smacked Maverick across the face.
“HOW DARE YOU CALL ME A SLUT? I want our daughter back. I got help from an animal that is friends with the a*****e that took our daughter. I did nothing, NOTHING wrong, Maverick. I never stepped out and cheated on you and never with him, but you, you just showed me a side of you that I guess runs in that whole family because you just hurt me by calling me a SLUT, as he did to me.”
“ Payton.”…
“ NO, do not even say anymore. I can not believe you, Maverick.”
I stormed off, back to the house, and slammed the door.
“I am sorry, Payton, are you OK?” Greyson asks me
“ I could not help but hear everything.”
“ Me too, Mom. I am sorry. I am so sorry. I never meant to hurt Dad and make him hurt you like that. I am sorry I am sorry. “
I rushed to Cole and wrapped him in my arms. We are both crying
“ Don’t you dare be sorry, Cole, it is not your fault, it is mine. I never should have gone to ask Greyson for help, but I will do anything for my children, and I need Melody back, so this is not your fault. Do you hear me? It is mine. “
“ I will tell Dad I changed my mind. I do not want to get to know Alpha Brooks. I will fix this mom. “
I pulled away from Cole and cup his face

Greyson’s phone rings; it is my father calling to say the warriors and other Alphas have arrived.
“Cole take Greyson in wolf form to the packhouse as you planned. I will meet you both there. It is time to bring Melody home. “

I watch as Cole and Greyson leave.
