I leave the hospital in a daze. Pregnant, how can this be happening to me? The Beast can never know I am having his baby; I must protect this pup. I break down crying as I am walking. How can I even love this baby knowing how it was conceived? How can I love something that is part of the Beast? How am I ever going to look at this baby and love it? Every time I look at this baby I will remember the attack. How can I have this baby? How is my family going to react? Or even Mavrick, what will he think of me?
I walk through the door of the pack house; I need to get to my room and hide. I do not know how I am going to tell everyone. I reached the stairs just as I felt a hand touch me.
I look behind me and see a worried look on my mothers face.
“Payton honey, what is wrong?” she asks
“Nothing mom, I am fine” I lie
“Payton Black, do not lie to me,” she says. She has always been able to see right through me,
“I am your mother. I am not stupid; I know when there is something wrong with my daughter,”
I guess I have no choice now. I will have to tell them. I just don’t know how they are going to take the news. I myself do not even know how to take the news. I just know I can never love something that is part of the beast.
“Fine mom,” I said
“Your right something is wrong, have dad Jaxson and Maverick meet us in dads office, and I will tell you all at the same time,” I say
“Oh wow, it must be something big. Ok, dear, I will have them meet us there,” she says
“Lets go,” she places her arm around me and leads me up to my fathers office.
With in 10 minutes, everyone is in my fathers office.
“Ok sweetheart we are all here,” said my mother, taking a seat beside me on the couch.
“What do you need to talk to us about?”
I look up and see that everyone’s eyes are on me. I can not help but feel sick and scared. I can not deal with carrying the Beasts pup. How are they?
“What is it, Payton?” asks my dad
“You know you can talk to us about anything,”
I take a big breath and get to my feet,
“As you know, I have been feeling sick lately,” I started
“So, I went to see the doctor; in fact, I just came from seeing her”
I notice they are all still looking at me waiting for me to continue,
“Anyways, she informed me of the reason why I have been feeling so sick lately”
“What is it, dear?” asks my mother
“she told me, she told me, that,” I turn around and walk to the window
“She told you what, Payton?” Asks Jaxson
“She told me that I am pregnant,” I said
I hear my mother shriek and turn around
She was smiling,
“My baby is going to have a baby,” she says, excited
“This is great news” says my father
“Wait what?” I asked
“You are all happy I am pregnant?”
“Of course, we are, baby. Why would we not be?”
“Because I am not happy about it,” I say
“What? Payton, how can you not be happy about having a pup?” My mother asks, shocked
“Because mom, this baby is the result of the attack of the Beast,” I said
“How can I be happy about having his baby? How am I ever going to be able to look at this child and love it?”
My mother walks over and wraps her arm around me, leading me over back to the couch,
“Payton honey, you can not blame what happened to you on this baby; it is not it’s fault,” she says
“Right now, I understand how you feel, I do, but honey, this is a good thing, and no matter how you feel right now, you will love this child”
“We all will love this child,” says my smiling father
“No matter who the father is or how you came to be pregnant”
“Your father is right, Payton,” says Mavrick
“We all love you and will love this baby,”
How I can not believe they are all so happy and supportive. I am so lucky to have them.
Later that day, I am walking in the garden thinking things over when I smell Mavrick.
“Hey Paton, can we talk?” he asks
“Yes of course,”
Mavrick takes my hand, pulling me close to him, and then lightly kisses me.
“Payton, we have been seeing one another for a while now and taking things very slow,” he says
“You know I am deeply in love with you”
I smile up at him,
“Yes, I know you love me, Mav. I love you as well,” I said
“Then do me the honor of being my chosen mate, be my wife, Payton, marry me?”
“What?” I asked, shocked
“Think about it, Payton, we love each other, I was rejected you rejected your mate, let us be chosen mates and raise this child together,” he says
“I love you so much and want to spend the rest of my life with you, Payton. Please say you will marry me? This baby will only know me as its father,”
I look into Mav’s eyes, I can tell he is serious, I know he really loves me, he has for a long time, and I can not deny the fact that I myself love him as well. And he is even willing to raise another mans child as his own.
“Yes Mav, Yes, I will marry you,” Mav picks me up in a hug, twirling me around, then kissing me.
“Do you have any idea how happy you have just made me?” he asks
After a few more kisses, we head back to the packhouse to tell my family.
“OH MY GOD,” my mother shrikes
“I am so thrilled for the both of you,”
“Congratulations you two,” says my father
“Welcome to the family, Mavrick. Just treat my daughter right,”
“You have my word, Alpha Black. I will love cherish and honor Payton and our pup forever,” he smiles
“I need to call Alison and tell her,” I said
“NO” says my mother
“Your mother is right, Payton,” says my father
“No one can know you are pregnant or getting married; the less who know the better, we can not allow the Beast to know,”
“But Alison is my best friend’s dad; she would never tell him,” I said
“But she is a part of his pack now, Payton; it could slip. I am sorry,”
I can believe I can not even tell my best friend I am pregnant and getting married. I can not help but cry. But at the same time, I know my parents are right; no one can know. The beast can never know I am carrying his pup ever.
